"Turn to the left. Swing to the right" That has to be the single best lesson I have ever heard, I was exactly the guy standing up and stopping rotation at impact. Completely cleared up my understanding of the proper way to get to impact.

This teacher is the most effective instructional communicator as he explains really well what the feeling should be, and how to find it. He is equal only to Dr Andrew Argus. Ideally, each video should be in the 5-minute range. I have listened intently to his lessons and easily found my scratch-4 handicap again after more than a decade's absence from the game. Simplify, and listen only to him.

This is the swing that I experience every once in a while by accident, and am left thinking..."Wow, that felt really good!," and are what makes us all keep coming back for more. We know we have this shot within us, but because we don't really know what we did to experience that gorgeous strike we walk up to the next shot and chunk the ball about 80 yards with our 7 iron right before slamming the club into the ground in frustration.. LOL. This lesson really helps explain those times when it all comes together for that awesome feeling when the ball compresses off the club in that beautiful little draw that goes about 30% further than your used to. This video will help turn those shots into consistently proper strikes instead of once in a while accidents. Thanks.

Nice video. At 2:15, he talks about throwing the club to the right. I tried this with an iron, not hitting a golf ball with the club upside down and literally throwing the club. I could instantly tell if my body movements were not in sync because the club would go flying right (body stall) or flying left (body did not rotate) - 5:25. If it goes down the target line, perfect. Also helps with the release. Once again, good video.

Hi Clay, I watched your video when it came out and when we were released from lockdown I've been giving it a go. I can honestly say I've never hit the ball as consistently. I've never hit a draw before and now I have a lovely controlled one. Average driver distance for me was 220, its now 250. Today I hit a standard 8 iron 156 with a great flight, that was previously a 130-135 club. Thank you so much!

This is one of the very best lessons from you Clay, and that's saying quite a bit considering all the great content you put out. THIS. IS. ME!!! I've identified it just in the last week. The problem is I've been swinging like this for 10 years. I'll probably spend all summer correcting it. Even though I know I need to swing a certain way, when I go up there, my body goes into muscle memory and it's very difficult to change it. I think I need to just swing slow, like 1/4 speed until it corrects. Thank you for the video.

Really timely video, Clay. I've got the shallow part going well but really finding if I don't initiate the hip move at or before I get to the top, the ball is going straight over to the next fairway. When I open up properly, you're right, I get another 20 yards. I'm old so the correct pivot can be a pain, depending on the day, but working on hip mobility so this becomes natural. Great video, Clay. This addresses a mental dilemma I have, which is to “think” about opening my body right from the start of the downswing (transition) but in reality keeping the shoulders closed a bit longer, basically, separation of hips and shoulders. I have a hard time thinking about those two parts of my body making contrasting motions. For me, I t’s either “open” (I dump club behind me a bit and flip it with timing) or “closed longer”, where things stall out and unless I time things perfectly. Either way it’s a hook. “Swing path right” seems to be an easier thought for me than “shoulders closed”.

Mike Austin would likely approve. But did you notice the difference when (like your practice swing) your outer left heel area stays down through impact? It's a way to get the gravity-move leverage for good distance with the least effort. I see some "power hitters" come up on the leading toes through impact. That jumpy lifting actually requires timing of extra muscle contractions vs the more repeatable counterfall.

About 1990 or so Golf Magazine did a 3 part series on the golf swing called "The Science Of The Swing". An expert took extensive computer hardware and accurately compared 150 tour professional swings to about 400 mid-handicap level swings using a worn harness hooked up to a PC. Then an extremely talented artist compared the differences in drawings he created for the series. The differences were dramatic. And I could see myself clear as a picture itself in how NOT to swing. I did exactly what they said not to do. I studied and worked hard on the range to convert at age 50 to the so-called modern golf swing. And it paid off. I went down to a zero handicap. Touring pros stay much more "level" throughout the swing than you would imagine or even see on TV, and do NOT swing against a steady head as TV announcers used to talk about. This causes what is known as "left side crunch" on the forward swing which is not good. Everything compresses together and It removes the athleticism from the swing. These pros stay in "athletic" positions throughout this very "level" swing. That is why we see what we think is a "touring pro swing" every time we go to a tour event. It actually is. I once overheard Bob Murphy talking to a fellow pro one week before he joined the Senior tour. He told him he was working hard on "staying level". He said he knew he needed to do that in order to be competitive out there. Things were changing at that time. Once you truly understand the golf swing, you understand why this is.

Hey Clay, I have an issue of early extension, and swinging from the inside. My hands are very high at impact, so I was advised to swing to the left. But you’re saying I need to swing way from the inside to out. Will that not keep my hands being too high at impact?
@TopSpeedGolf4 жыл бұрын
Hi, you have to shallow out the hands and the club on the downswing. The higher your hands are at the top the more you have to shallow it out in transition. Go look at Bubba Watson's swing. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

@TopSpeedGolf4 жыл бұрын
I would try to hold equal pressure. You'll naturally hold it in your lead and firmer throughout the swing because that's where more force is needed throughout the swing because it's furthest from the club head. You don't need to intentionally try to grip it firmer with the lead hand. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

Do you have a drill that will help me from swing over the top?
@TopSpeedGolf4 жыл бұрын
Hi Walter, yes, we have many drills for this on our channel. Search over the top and you'll find several. Here is one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKSzl5KZYrB7hNk. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

Tried this at the range, hit the ball solid but was hit left, not a draw, but left. What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like you're not swinging to the right enough. You might just be opening up and swinging with your body. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

I’m hoping that after trying this, my duffs go farther than the women’s tees! Small wins!
