That's cause of the difficulty level they are playing at, did you forget very easy and easy modes in TS4?! They even served slow for the player to grasp the gameplay properly. At hard or very hard, that's where you play real tennis.

Yep. That’s what I’m noticing. I looked at TS4 and thought it look really good. 2K25 almost seems like a step backward. Of course gameplay and feel will be king, but it seems like they were worried this game wouldn’t sell, so they pulled back on refining certain elements. I think that’s a mistake. But anyway, I’d say the local fan base will buy this anyway. I just hope they kick it up a gear with more modes and players for future releases.

It's a good start but the graphics look last gen and there are not enough current players. You want to have about 30 ATP players, including Joker and Nadal of course. You also need to have Jannik Sinner in the game. He, along with Alcaraz, are the most exciting things in the sport right now. You have Carlos but you need Jannik in the game guys. I'd also like to see Zverev, Tsitsipas, Rune, Rublev, and as many of the top 30 players as you can get. This game with fully modern visuals and a fleshed-out roster would be amazing. I'm happy that you have brought the franchise back though, and I'm hoping the "2K25" moniker means that there will be future (annual?) releases. I'm sure with a couple of iterations there can be an amazing game eventually.

Adding more players in the game is damn expensive. If you want to have Sinner alone you need to put an additional 100K (minimum) on the table; Using someone’s image costs … tennis games weren’t that profitable these past years to make such an extra investment worth it. Here we have a solid first cast I’d say, pretty cool. I’m just still a little skeptical about the moves, they look a little slow on the court and the grunts made me kinda uncomfortable

@@DanAngelok Tennis needs to smarten up as a sport when it comes to this stuff. There should be a way to get the ATP and WTA licenses so you can use all current active players (just like getting the NBAPA or NFLPA licenses for example). I get that it doesn't work that way right now but it needs to. This game can only benefit the sport if it actually represents the sport properly by including the best players. That's why people buy FIFA, Madden, 2K, etc. If you took out 75% of the NBA's best players from the game, no one would buy NBA 2K.

@@RoanRants Hopefully but I don't see the logic. It's not because the last game of the franchise is 10+ years old that this one should be outdated. It would make more sense to start from scratch, on a technical point at least (graphics etc.) Strategically I don't see the logic either, if they disappoint now people aren't gonna buy the next one. But, it's just my thoughts.

So glad Roger motion captured his serve! His forehand and backhand motions were already amazing in Top Spin 4 with just the serve being inaccurate. Also hope Nadal and Djokovic get added post launch!

It's so bad though and so slow! Average shot per rally in 2024 tennis = 4 shots at 78-80 mph from forehand with peak at 105 mph from Alcaraz. Here what do we have? Average rally around 10-15, moonballs at 40 mph like seniors in my local club. It's pathetic. Every surface look the same in terms of physics and each player hit the same ball with the same spin. Federer in real life hit a ball with 2800 rotation per sec, lots of spin; Medvedev hits flat (I think 1400 or something). We see no difference in game: those devs absolutely don't watch pro tennis and don't know tennis. Look at the face of Agassi.... oh my god!

My impression is that everyone wants a simulation of the tennis pros and right now its too goofy. When you hit a tennisball hard its not screaming but more air coming out, difficult to explain. Thats Why many are picking on it.

Wow the anticipation for this game has been years and I can’t wait to play. As a Williams Sisters fan, Serena’s grunt does sound quite strange here and I wonder why, because she definitely didn’t sound like that on the court. Hopefully that is improved before the game comes out.

Still really unrealistic given the quality of technology these days. Animations are still very janky, rallies too long with too few errors / winners / unreturnable serves. Extremely limited roster of players. Speed of shot is unrealistically slow. Technique still looks very unrealistic (although I will admit the service motions look miles better than previously).

How long have I heard people say how much they loved TopSpin. People were always saying how A0 and Tennis World Tour are nothing compared to TopSpin. Now you get a modern console version of TopSpin and all people do is complain it’s too much like the old game. The game that they supposedly loved.

Just my 5 builds as an avid Tennis fan/player/gamer...1. Improve grunt sfx (except for Williams) 2. Put fx when ball hits face of racket 3. Add chalk fx in grass court. 4. Add sliding and dust to clay court play. 5. Update fist bump instead of using animation from old TS4. Thanks for bringing this game back!

Happy to see the return of TopSpin and will pick up day 1...but can't pretend not to be severely disappointed by stiffness of the animations, likenesses, and number of current players. That being said, bravo on the amount of venues. Not having Novak and Rafa seems tragic. Get me Ospokeno and her brattiness and we'll call it even!

Additional footworks must be added when the characters are waiting for the ball. Sure there are some, but they are almost not noticeable. Normally, a tennis player is not static when waiting for the ball. I hope the developer will look at this.

Happy topspin was brought back and it will be nice to play online again as it's one of the best aspects. Definitely wish there was a bigger roster as it makes career mode more realistic, some of the players motions like Medvedev looked a bit off and not really how he hits the ball. The grunting is kinda weird too lol sounds a bit over the top. I have hope this will be continue to be updated and new players will drop without hefty price tags.

Regarding grunting during plays, it must occur at specific moments. For instance, when players are tired, or when the rally has been lengthy, or when a player makes a significant effort. If the grunting appears at other times, such as at the beginning, or if it's not justified, this breaks the immersion of the game.

Looks fun, but I can't understand why 120 mph serves looks soooo slow. Also, sometimes the players just stand perfectly still as the ball comes to them. Looks so unnatural. That said, looking forward to playing again, I've got fond memories of the other Topspin games!

How did you manage to motion capture Federer and not nail any of the animations lol. Backhand should have extended elbow, no limp wrist, other arm extending back. Forehand prep arc should be lower, body leaning forward… so much is off. You can even see that when he’s in the mocap suit

Needs improvements to: GAMEPLAY (some actual stakes when you hit the ball, proper pacing and speed of the game but also actual heavy spin on shots like drop shots, topspin or slices, haptic feedback, players showing actual effort and guts, moments of a bad bounce/the ball hitting the next or getting unlucky, momentum and its effects on the players,, fluidity and players showing emotion, nerves, or extra abilities or efforts in big moments like an adrenaline boost), GRAPHICS (not players that look like they're from 10 years ago on TS4), ROSTER (obviously needs more current players and legends- Sampras, Chang, Roddick, Connors, Courier, Rios, Safin, Martin for the men. For the women, Seles, Navratilova, Hingis, Henin, Clisters, Sanchez-Vicario, Venus, Davenport, King, etc). Let's see 2K put forth some guts and effort for once themselves and make next year's the greatest tennis game anyone has ever seen by a long ways instead of just "passable." Shoot for a 12/10 for once instead of a 6 or 7/10. To me, Virtual Tennis was unrivaled in their gameplay even though they had some flaws. But without question, the action on that game was FAR more true to the spirit of actual tennis than TS has ever come close to. I'd love to see the developers properly rev their engines and next year come out with one of the most badass sports games of all time. Sadly, I don't think it'll be this years.

I will remind you that Russian and Belarusian players were even banned from participation in the 2022 Wimbledon 🙂
