Can you answer this one: what's the oldest object still in use? Not in a museum, not the foundations of a wall but a thing: a jewel, a relic, a national treasure? Is there anything in the world which is thousands of years old and it still working? The best I've come up with are the national treasures of Japan which may be 2500 years old, but nobody has actually seen them for centuries.... @Simon, I'd love to see a video on this.

I mean, actual object. The koinoor diamond in the UK crown jewels is maybe 800 years, the stone of destiny (aka toilet lid joke) is 1000, there's Christian relics which are *maybe* 1800... The Japanese treasures might date back to the bronze age but that's impossible to verify without seeing them. Is there anything else, anything older? A pot, carved stone, some piece of gold jewellery?

Sorry to disappoint on the Piri Reis Map: Missing Measurements! To understand this theory one needs to keep in mind that ancient maps where not drawn with a top down starlight view, but from measurements written down in charts. It is entirely possible for these charts to be missing bits of data, some unfortunate event that befell the exploration team is all it would take to lose whole pages of charts. With that in mind follow the coast line on the Piri Reis Map and you notice not one but two interesting 'zipper like' patterns. It is entirely possible these are signs that the cartographer may have been working with missing blocks of data. Just happens those zipper sections are also where the Piri Reis map match up *incorrectly* with satellite images.... Oh, and if you bend the zippers the correct way that 'Antarctic' section becomes the area around Rio Gallegos. This doesn't need any dimensions to really change, as the first zipper occurs between Sao Paulo and Buernos Aire. The one that juts out sudden east can be turned to bend south-westerly and the other bits begin to line up. This means we might be looking at the first exploration team to sail around the cape... but they didn't realize what they had done, perhaps they where down there through one of those long winters and their compass got stuck?

When academics question the amount of time they believe an artifact would take to make I think they forget time and it's measurement is different now. They illuminated manuscripts would have taken time to write and illustrate. Humans are very inventive when they want/need to be. It only takes one person to understand one way to do something and that way can inspire others to stand on their shoulders to find more and better ways.

@titmusspaultpaul5
@titmusspaultpaul5 3 жыл бұрын
Doesnt work that way at all. Most Birds use a totally different way to fly compared to planes. Planes need a certain shape to give just the right amount of lift. In recent times (the past few hundred years.. even the great Leonardo Divinchi tried to make flying machines) many thousands of people over the years tried to make a flying machine and it only happened at the begining of the 20th century. Its a very complex thing, even for basic flight, and boiling the idea and process down as you did just doesn't work.... cheers.

There's thick and then there's CHONKY. Women probably couldn't even get that fat back then, due to scarcer food and the need to do everything manually (including move around to find food). So even a kinda-thick female probably was a sexy novelty, and stylized "ideal" females would be bigger than any real women around, just like doll and cartoon females are thinner than possible, now.

a. The Himmelsscheibe von Nebra (sky disk of Nebra) was actually found near Ziegelroda. Nebra is only an adjacent town. It is estimated to be between 3,700 and 4,100 years old. b. The 'venus' figurines are very diverse in age, shape, and locations where they had been found. They might be as old as 30,000 years, which places them right in the ice age. In those times, agriculture was barely possible, btw. So the 'fertility' they were meant to promote, was that of women. c. You left out the Löwenmensch vom Hohlenstein-Stadel (translates to lion-human of the hollow-stone/hayrick) which is fashioned from a mammoth's tooth, 35,000 to 41,000 years old, and was found together with other artifacts in an area where neolithic hunters and gatherers settled for the hunting season over the course of a long period. d. The south american 'planes' might as well be depictions of various kolibris in flight. 3. What about the 'Lady of Elche'?

If you have the Codex Gigas, you should have the Voynich Manuscript, that's almost as old, older than the Piri Reis map, and FAR more mysterious. Side note, in the 1960s the Cartographical division of the United States Air Force examined the Piri Reis map, and their conclusion was that it was genuine, and that it DID indeed show Antarctica... more, it showed Antarctica as that section of it is UNDER the ice... something which we have no evidence of them having ANY way of knowing in the 1560s. They also suspected it was actually an older map, that Piri Reis just hade copied, and few additions added, due to some of the actual artistic techniques. Some have suggested a date of around the 13th or 14th century, which make's it's existence, considering it's convinced at least one reputable organization, all the more astounding.

Look at the stone masks.../Just look at them... They carved those to look like the deceased, but while they were carving the bodies were decaying, details got lost, features got lost. They ended up with a memory of a memory of a memory...

@@mychemicalcookie Other minerals that are harder than jadeite (H 6.5 to 7) and especially harder than nephrite (H 6 to 6.5) could be used to carve jade. Quartz (H 7) beryl (H 7.5 to 8) topaz (H 8) chrysoberyl (H8.5) corundum (H 9). Obviously, they wouldn't have used gem quality stones for tools, but non-gem quality stones of some of these are fairly common (beryl enough so to be used as beryllium ore) and are used now as then as abrasives. Even non-gem diamond (H 10).

Number 10. Could later people had found the log and made the carving much later than 11,000.years ago. Granted the wood could be 11,000 year old, but not the art

There are tests for that, which is why a similar test done on a 2000 year old Greek or Roman statue will indicate the age it was carved, not when the marble was formed. Such tests ate done on wooden and non-wooden objects. Usually such statements regatding age are made after several different tests, on different aspects 9f the statue agree.

he says the looters of the nebra sky disc were brought to justice. could someone explain what crime they have commited, they found a object and then attempted to sell it, they didnt steal it from someone, otherwise it would have already been catalouged, they simply dug it up and sold it, most counties have finders rights which allow anyone who finds something of value to own said object until the original owner can be found, due to it being several thousand years old i rather suspect the original owner is dead and therefore it belongs to them
@carllarsen

maybe it was on public or someone elses land. or maybe the laws of germany at the time said all finds belonged to the government.
@CAMacKenzie
@CAMacKenzie Жыл бұрын
@@carllarsen It's fairly common worldwide that ancient artifacts belong to the government, regardless of who owns the land where found. Also, they destroyed archaeological context and damaged some of the artifacts, and were operating without a license. Even here in the U.S., if you want to dig for ancient Indian artifacts, you need a permit from the applicable tribe and can be arrested for operating without.
Wait for the last one! 👀
