I would like to say while I was initially trepidatious about Karl taking over, I have come to liken his style to the things I also liked about Simon's best videos: there is a bit of character, a personal touch. The production is good. He reads the script well with good emphasis. The VERY old top tenz was missing this flare when Simon was young and beardless. A raw deadpan fact list is boring; I for one watch this channel over others for the colorful insights as its just enough to keep it interesting. Keep doing what you're doing bud. I like it. I like your style, your shirts, your back drop, and your behind the scenes insights. I also like the new touches in editing. You folks are doing great!

At a race I went to Paul Newman was driving a Mini-Bike and he came around a corner and ran into me. I saw him coming and grabbed the handle bars. He almost ended up on the ground. He did say he was sorry and then went on his way. Nice way to meet him.

Kind a interesting thing how hatred can make people create something beloved. I didn't create Sonic The Hedgehog, but I personally hated Sonic Satam and Archie's Sonic Comic so much, I created 2 my own comic book series, Fox Of The City and Fox Of The Jungle. First one premiered 2013, and it still continues. Latter comic premiered 2014, and it ended 2020. But after the last chapter, it gained a fanbase. And nowadays, I do lot of commissions based on Fox Of The Jungle. Even just right now🖊📘

Surprised Stephen King's utter contempt for Stanley Kubrick's The Shining wasn't on here. King hated it so much he went out of his way to make his own more accurate mini-series version that, while far more accurate, lacked the artistry Kubrick brought to the story and it pretty much bombed. And for the record King isn't opposed to creative changes to his work, he actually loved the ending to the movie The Mist more than his own and regretted that he hadn't thought of it himself, he just outright despised the way Kubrick fundamentally changed the core of the work. King wrote it as a tragedy revolving around one man's descent into madness brought on by cosmic forces manipulating him and turning him against those he loved while Kubrick preferred a stock horror film with a psychopathic antagonist already on the verge who goes from zero to 11 in the span of a few scenes. To quote the man himself, “That’s what’s wrong with [Stanley Kubrick’s] The Shining, basically…the movie has no heart; there’s no center to the picture. I wrote the book as a tragedy, and if it was a tragedy, it was because all the people loved each other. Here, it seems there’s no tragedy because there’s nothing to be lost.”

Maybe the director of Dragonball Super was such a huge fan that he knew the only way to get Akira Toriyama to make new Dragonball episodes was to make the exact movie that Dragonball fans were afraid of... and it forever made me assume all live action anime remakes suck right out of the bat. Luckily I gave One Piece a chance because I saw it's character designs, but I'm still skeptical of other live action animes.

Worth an honorable mention is the 2005 film adaption of _V for Vendetta._ While David Lloyd, primary illustrator of the original 1980s graphic novels, was a fan of the movie, writer Alan Moore nitpicked at length over perceived shortcomings in the Wachovskis' screenplay. [EDIT: Just to be clear, Alan Moore appears to have _hated_ the movie.]

I enjoyed Kubrick's movie considerably more than I enjoyed the original book. From what I recall (it's been nearly 45 years), much of the book only works if you buy into supernatural explanations, and I haven't believed in ghosts or magical powers since I was a little kid. In the _movie,_ pretty much everything (with one possible exception) can be equally well explained by intuition and psychosis. I find psychosis _a lot scarier_ than the supernatural.

Karl technically DBE is based off Dragonball not DBZ. Its story line follows most of the early Dragonball episodes. It doesn't involve Vegeta or Feeza or anything from DBZ. But DBE is worthless garbage regardless.

Keep up the tangents and the enthusiasm Karl! I am a big fan of Whistle-boy, but honestly his more polished newsreader-like demeanor on TopTenz and Biographics was my least favorite Simon content. I always liked Brain Blaze and his cold-read channels like Casual Criminalist better (which i think he produces himself). And he tangents away like mad on those. Not that you have to emulate that, but whatever. Anyway, do your thing, you're a cool guy who's fun to listen too.
