God "taught him the tree" Fascinating, when you think about all the trees about to be spoke of in future bible books. Could you recommend an end time eschatological book that supports your viewpoint on end times? You are such a genius bible scholar would love to hear the end time view you lean towards. Blessing to you for safe travels to Mt. Sinai.

Carmen have you looked into the role that trees play in revelation in the O.T. There are many of them. Happy hunting!

So much in that today it seems to be a major passage from what you have explained. Awesome dig. Will take a while to digest. The testing of Moses is the most interesting. Does that mean the promise of Yahweh Rophka is to Moses or the Israelites? Is it similar to the retribution principle? Eg Proverbs 3:8 "A statue and a decision" (,I've waited for that part for a few months)). Thanks for the background in Joseph and Egypt. That passage and word play would make a good song or rap..a real tounge twist Thanks.. I ll pass this episode on in Philippines. Look forward to seeing you in Sinai ASAP

I noticed the LXX also translated the testing to "him"(not "them") as in Moses.

I only just now made the mental connection of the bitter waters and Naomi saying her name is Mara because the almighty has made my life bitter in Ruth. Is there a connection between the (what I will call a testing) with Moses at the bush/tree?
@CarmenJoyImesPhD
@CarmenJoyImesPhD 3 ай бұрын
Good connection about Naomi! I don't see a connection between the tree that Moses throws in the water and the bush of chapter 3 because it's a totally different word. That word is seneh, which sounds like Sinai. But it's always worth checking!

Can you tell me what the Hebrew word for "sweet" is in the text?
@CarmenJoyImesPhD
@CarmenJoyImesPhD 6 ай бұрын
Sure. The word is mahoq (מתק). It's a verb meaning "to make sweet." If you want to see Hebrew words for yourself, you can go to netbible.org and hover over the English word in the text and it will highlight it for you in Hebrew.

I love these videos- thank you so much for all you do! Regarding the bitterness turning into honey- I can’t help but see a connection to Ezekiel 3 and Revelation. In Ez. 3 his test was to eat the scroll (made from a tree) and speak to the house of Israel. While he went in bitterness and in the heat of his spirit, he ate the scroll and the words were as sweet as honey. But the house of Israel did not listen and they suffered the covenantal curses from Leviticus as a consequence (famine, beasts, blood, pestilence) which echos much of the language from the diseases of Egypt. John is also told to eat a scroll in Revelation 10- which makes his stomach bitter but tastes like honey. But the world, which did not obey the commandments of God, experiences tribulation which again echos the language of the covenantal curses and diseases of Israel. Do you think these are all connected- pointing back to this original lesson God taught them in the wilderness?

Yes, I'm sure these later texts are echoing Exodus. Thanks for your comment!

Trees as you know Doctor Imes are sacred and are places of connections between heaven and earth. Thinking out loud, my question would be why does the author throw that reference there to the 70 palm trees. 70 seems to refer always to the nations. Maybe I have let Dr. Heiser influence me too much, but it makes me wonder if the author threw that in to point to Israel’s future destiny to be a light to the nations. This is kind of like a mini test to see whether like Adam and Eve failed to trust him, if the Israelites would do the same. It definitely seems to be hinting back to Eden, or maybe I am reading too much into it.

Thanks for your thought! You're right that 70 sometimes alludes to the nations (Genesis 10). In Exodus, the book begins with 70 descendants of Jacob, so it's also possible that this is indicating God provided for each clan of Israel.

This is an addition to my previous post. There I stated that there are two components of the New Covenant: baptism with spirit and baptism with water. Now you understand why the Hebrew word "circumcisions" is plural here. The final "Moses" for our time (as the two witnesses) must undergo both "circumcisions" before he commences his 3.5 year ministry. I would like to clear up the supposed ambiguities you mention in your interview, if I may. 1. The angel of the Lord is about to kill *_Moses._* The angel represents Christ and may even well have been him. 2. It makes no difference which son is having the circumcision. This is a prophetic drama. Not every detail is relevant or repeated. 3. The foreskin is presented at the feet of the angel. It is not a euphemism - "at the feet" (of the Lord) signifies humility and a willingness to submit to God's will. 4. Zipporah is talking to the angel of the Lord (Christ). 5. The Lord lets *_Moses_* alone. Would you like to know when the ministry of the two witnesses commences? This man who will fulfill this commission must be baptized *_before_* then, and he surely knows when his ministry will commence, since he is currently under a death sentence from the Lord!

What you've proposed here is one possibility. The text is too ambiguous to be certain about the identities of each "he/him." I think a good case can be made that the angel of the LORD is . . . an angel of the LORD, not Christ, but you've given one possibility. Thanks for engaging!

@@CarmenJoyImesPhD The interpretation is correct. Ask me how I know. (Mal 3:1) Would you like to know when the 3.5 year Great Tribulation begins? (Dan 12:1,7) The prophet who will fulfill the role of Moses (as the two witnesses) knows when his commission will begin and that he must be baptized ("circumcised") before then. I will tell you anyway. In September 2023 the United Nations met at the SDG Summit. The United Nations "eighth king" or "wild beast" will be the future abomination of desolation. It will desolate, not some rebuilt Jewish temple in Jerusalem, but the Christian "temple." (1 Cor 3:16) The Jews are not God's people today. Daniel 9:27 foretells a seven year period. Halfway through that seven year period the desolation of _Christianity_ will take place because of their "transgression." (Dan 8:12; 9:24) It will last for 3.5 years. This is when the currently uncircumcised "Moses" will fuflill his commission. (Rev 11:3; 15:3) In September 2023 the United Nations did in fact *CONFIRM* a 2015 *COVENANT* with *MANY* nations for a further *SEVEN* years until 2030. Now compare this to Daniel's prophecy: "He will *CONFIRM* a *COVENANT* with *MANY* for one *SEVEN.* In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.” (Dan 9:27) The Great Tribulation will begin in Spring 2027.
