look how civilised the people became when Islam entered their country. this is utterly barbaric; if these people where muslim like the majoirty of Indonesia none of these retarded rituals would would be happening. In Islam you can obviously slaughter (for food); however its forbidden to do it infront of other animals and you definitely can't make a show out of it and clap and laugh :/

It’s amazing how many people are willing to dismiss/excuse cruelty as part of a “culture”. Saying it’s just your “culture” shouldn’t give you a free pass to be inhumane. Sacrifice the animal quickly and cleanly otherwise it’s about enjoying the suffering of the animal and that’s beyond disgusting!

FYI this process of slitting the throat and letting the animal die is what is called halal. Muslims eat only halal meat so go figure how many animals must suffer l Their deaths like this 😢 Also what about le matador ? Imo what the Spaniards did or still do to bulls is supremely cruel. Sacrifices do exist in many cultures however this one is up there in terms of cruelty. One hopes there's karma and the killers return as buffaloes in their next life to die at rhe hand of the reincarnated buffalo 😂

if you ever wonder why Toraja in Indonesia is different from the rest of Indonesia, it is because they are genetically different. It has been proven in DNA results, that Torajans are mostly of Austronesian and Melanesian descent, unlike the common Indonesian DNA which is Austronesian, Cambodian and Melanesian. Javaneses and Sumatrans have Cambodian ancestry. Nowadays, you have people intermarrying, so the term of "Pure Torajan" is declining.

it's a Ma'nene ritual, someone isn't considered 'dead' if the family haven't do the ritual, and the family will keep the deceased body and treat them as if they're still alive (talk to them, change their clothes, offer them food) until they did the funeral ritual. it's the most expensive funeral ritual in Indonesia.

I know a bit about Torajan culture, and apparently they believe that a deceased person is just ill currently resting and not truly dead before they are in the tomb. Sometimes the family lives with a dead body inside their home for months or even years before they got enough money to arrange a ceremony, casually talking and asking them as if they're still alive, and that shaking thing they do with the coffin is to 'wake up' the deceased to prepare them for their final resting place. Also, did you get to witness the Torajan version of the walking dead there which is called Ma'nene? It's a tradition where they dig up their ancestors' long deceased bodies and change their clothes.

@@Smarty9300 Torajans have been doing this for hundreds of years, the temperature in Toraja is cold. maybe the preservative is still natural. Now it's using chemical preservatives. it is also possible that when it stings a bit, they will be moved to a traditional house outside while waiting for the right time for the traditional Toraja funeral ceremony. and even though it has been buried according to custom, later the body will be cleaned once every three years. search on google "manene" for this epic tradition

Humans were savages bro, take for examples the Vikings who launched still moving heads inside the cities of England to create fear and turmoil. Imagine your son's head falling on your doorstep. Life isn't black and white, the good and bad is subjective to how high morality you have (based on current societiel standards.) all we can do is accept what it is, the weak get trampled on by the strong, only a few strong are humble, the rest enjoy their power by trampling the poor and weak. That's why it's important to not be that pig. Even if you are going out, go out fighting. Don't be weak, don't accept any of it, otherwise we will end up like that pig, and dying doesn't just mean losing life but also losing life/joy while living. God bless.

They do try to have a quick deep cut and make the animal die fast and less pain. But the tradition only let you to have 1 strike only, and must let the rest to bleed to die, by so it also shows the skill of the algojo if he can make the buffalo die in 1 strike fast and less agony. They have to strike it while the buffalo standing, any only through the neck. The blade for it also each own algojo prepared. Usually the algojo will stand with it holding the rope till it die, so it's important to have the skill to kill it efficiently. The one they laughed at was the algojo that seems like a rocky, that can't control or efficiently kill the buffalo. I'm not a Torajanese, but I do try to search and read some their sacrifice rules and traditions. And that the general info that might answer a bit of your argument why it's harsh and brutal in a way.

Don’t want be disrespectful to someone’s culture but that’s super inhumane… The buffalos shouldn’t witness another being killed like that. Have the animal on the ground covering its eyes from the knife which needs to be super sharp and action of slaughter needs to be swift to make sure the animals doesn’t feel it. Unlike what’s happening in this video… The animal is standing and struggling for dear life.

Absolutely disgraceful. By the way, Islam doesn't encourage such acts. Islam told us to: -choose sharp knife -Cover the animal eyes and hide the knife -don't let other animals see the slaughtering.

I feel bad for how they slaughtered them. It's not a deep and clean way to slaughter. It must be painful for the buffalos because they died so slow. I've seen many slaughtered rituals since I was a child, but it was quicker, less than 10 seconds and it's dead. In this video they did it to make animals suffer for so long.

These living ancient Torajan traditions might not fit your modern Abrahamic religions POV, but to say their tradition and culture as "lack of respect for life" is a total mess and so disrespectful. Furthermore, who are you to judge what's belongs to such and such? it's their own thing, not yours. Cheering, laughing, and dancing during sacrificial rites are part of their living cultural heritage. I'm not Torajan myself but I feel so offended by your non-considerate and hateful comment.
@Steve-rr8qf
@Steve-rr8qf Жыл бұрын
@Ix-.-xI I'm glad your offended as I was offended by their complete inhumanity in the name of a made up god. I've seen other tribal and religious sacrifices which are carried out with respect for the fact that they're taking a life in the name of religion not repeatedly stabbing a pig and letting a disrespectful child kick it as it dies
@Ix-.-xI
@Ix-.-xI Жыл бұрын
@@Steve-rr8qf what you perceived as "god" might different to their understanding, don't push your POV about your "god" to the people who had different religious beliefs about "god", your self-defined god isn't their god in their definition, and their defined god isn't your god in your definition and perception. And fyi, they aren't sacrificing in the name of your Abrahamic religions, these traditions has been going on since ancient times way before your Abrahamic religions even popular to the surface. If you watch the video properly Dale already mentioned that Torajan are adhered to both Abrahamic religion and their own folk beliefs, and those sacrifices are belongs to their folk beliefs not Abrahamic religion. It seems like you are the one who had *lack of knowledge and respect* over these ethnic community.

I feel like people avoid speaking about how badly the sacrificing of the poor animals were performed. And the fact the allow a slow intentionally painful death. The way the child kicked the pig whilst bleeding to death! No respect for the animal and don’t deserve the meat as far as I’m concerned. Because it’s ‘cultural’ nobody says anything. I see no reason to celebrate death with more unnecessary deaths. The audacity to put an animal through that then have the cheek to auction them off and not bother killing them for the money. What the fuck is the point in that! Just don’t bloody buy them to start with. Each to their own, but theirs nothing that will ever change the way I feel about how these sacrifices were carried out. Absolutely horrendous way to teach our children about how to respect animals and their feelings.

It's so important that we stay open minded about other cultures who differ so much from our own. This may be so difficult to watch but only bc majority of people get their "meats" from a cold cooler in a supermarket. Most don't get to see the slaughter houses where 1,000's are killed everyday to support the mass demand. Here, where they are in this video, eating meat 🍖 like they're about to is a very special occasion to honor the passing of a loved one. The entire community will feast and celebrate life. Another thing...countries like this don't have NEARLY the amount of food waste as we have in the states. We waste so much for no significant reason and most forget the value of food and where it comes from and we lose our appreciation for such luxury ✨️ ❤

Why the fk does the man stab the pig three times in random places before doing it in the place that eventually kills the pig???!!!!! This is absolutely horrific....... evil evil people. And the kid kicking and hurting the pig while its lying dying???? That pig went through so much unnecessary suffering. I have researched about this practice and it states 'Once the pigs are quickly killed with a single sharp knife under their arm into the heart......' This is not what happened here, I hope they burn in hell!

okay look, im not in any capacity to say this, nor i have the right because im not a torajan myself, but i think this kind of cruelty needs to be banned. the way they're killing those animals was like for sport, not for a ceremony, not for a party, let alone a funeral. i have huge respect for traditions and culture, especially those of my own country but this is too much. Im not gonna highlight the obvious buffalo killing, but take this one for example 11:48, bro literally pulled the poking game with the pig as if he was toying around until it's slow and painful death..like was it even necessary? OR....OR.....hear me out...was it even in the original ritual? (serious question)
