Wicked first video heath! I like how you said the wiper motor is ugly. Awesome conversion especially the geometry.

Thanks Steve! Got to start with something, and apparently this has been pretty useful because a lot of people have messaged me telling they bought an off the shelf kit and had this same problem! Haha

Great video, very informative and please excuse me if I use it now that you have perfected it! I've been following your build on GMH-Torana but have to admit I much prefer the moving pictures and sound!

Mate mate I said mate ..... Wish the was a hj I've been trying and playing around with something I thought would be a simple job. How wrong I have been Although my car set up is totally different to see someone make the effort has given me a new spark Great job Great video if only more people would share their stuff Cheers Dave Grumpy

Cheers Dave! Yeah look every car is different and I do wonder if a Torana is about the most simple car there is for this alteration! I've certainly seen some complicated ones.

Just watched this, very interesting. Does the wiper motor end up in the glove box? Could you make a short video on you dash cluster please, i would be interested on what had been done in that area
@Hezath Жыл бұрын
Thanks Shane. The wiper motor sits inside the plenum, but the car still has a full glovebox etc. I need to make some time to do a video on the dash clusters... they are a bit of a complicated one. I do make these dashes and also sell conversion kits to other people who want to make a dash like this.
@shanetaplin6567 Жыл бұрын
@Hezath thanks for that info. I have been looking at making a copy of the factory dash but using LCD screens so I can also incorporate reverse cameras into the cluster. So looking at your one is to give me better ideas on general.

G'day Heath, agree with all other sentiments about being a very informative video. If the motor is hidden within the plenum space I'm assuming there is hole under the aluminium panel if you ever needed to remove the motor? Would you have any photos of the progress prior to fitting the motor and plate? Cheers mate 👍

@@Hezathchecking to see where I can source a conversion kit?
@Hezath Жыл бұрын
@darylgoodgame7292 thanks very much! The motor actually gets extracted through that hole that the ally plate is covering, you just put it on a funny angle and it JUST fits through out the top, haha. Has to be serviceable of course. The wiper motor conversion, hole, etc. are shown in my build thread "Heath's Hatch" on the GMH-Torana forum. Re: the fella asking the question about a conversion kit, I'm the wrong person to ask. I just make my stuff myself.

I did this conversion many years ago to my hatchback but I never got the wiring right do you have any more information on the wiring and the switch please
@Hezath3 жыл бұрын
Yes, well if you use a wiper motor like the Commodore one I used (like most modern cars I believe), then you are going from a switched low side (standard Torana) to switched high side. It's different but not complicated to change. First, replace the switch with something like the Cole Hersee 75600-02 if you want intermittent functions, (or even just a normal rotary switch, as long as in "off" it still can send 12V down one of its terminals for a home function on the wiper motor). The 12V during accessory/on power feed that goes DIRECTLY to the wiper motor is no longer needed. Take that wire and send it to the wiper switch in the dash instead. The switch needs to supply power as follows: (note the wiper motor is always getting some kind of 12V supply, just to different terminals as per below) - In position 0 (off) it needs to supply power to the 'home' terminal on the motor. (there is already a black wire for this in the standard loom) - In position 1 (low speed) it needs to supply power to the low speed terminal on the motor. (light blue wire, this isn't a modification, it is the same as standard Torana) - In position 2 (high speed) it needs to supply power to the high speed terminal on the motor. (white wire, this isn't a modification, it is the same as standard Torana) - The modern type of wiper motor will need to be earthed, un-like the original Torana one (where the earthing was done through the dash switch), so add a constant ground wire to the new wiper motor. If you use the Cole Hersee switch, you'll need to ground to the body of the car and of course the windscreen washer pump function is a separate terminal but once again there's a (dark blue) wire that's sitting in the loom ready to be connected to your new switch too. TL:DR So actually very simple. Get appropriate switch, earth switch, earth motor, run power to the switch instead of the motor itself.
