I am half Lecan, thank you for bringing a video about - my mother who passed away would have been so happy to see such a video. I hope to learn the language of my ancestral home that she spoke so proudly about.

Out of all languages of El Salvador and Honduras i’ve heard, this has to be the most beautiful sounding one.

How do we go about learning this? I tried the link above but the link no longer works.

Congrats on your efforts! Outstanding as always - I'm really curious about how intelligible honduran lenca is with either salvadoran lenca or pipil-nawat. Pretty interesting choice.
@MsLaBajo Жыл бұрын
I’m curious about intelligibility between Salvadoran lenca too. It shouldn’t, however, be similar to Nawat because it comes from a completely different language family.

Richard ets tot un geni! felicitats per totes aquestes llengues :) Espero poder coneixe't aquest any a Islandia. I'm learning a lot of languages myself lately (assimil and teach yourself) and at nights I watch videos like these ones to get inspiration for next morning. I was wondering why are you located in Skopje? Seems a very random place to be! (I was there for a few weeks myself).

Is this different from the Salvadoran variation and why?
@MsLaBajo Жыл бұрын
Great question I want to know that too!

Speaking for Honduras itself, Honduras is super Mountainous so that naturally creates separation which then leads to differences in lineage linguistically. Remember, they weren't one large tribe but rather many loosely related tribes scattered between both countries. Lempira had to unite the tribes that he could in order to put up a resistance to the Spanish

Hi Richard! Merhaba :) I'm native in Turkish language. And for a while I've been attracted to learning Russian and German. I'll be glad if you give me some advice through your own experiences. Thank you so much, teşekkürler.

What makes you learn this language?? :P

As Language Edu says, pleasure! I love it and believe in the project. I have just updated the description now to say a little more about it. :)

Amazing. Finally a polyglot who is learning an indigenous American language. Maybe I should start learning some Mayan language when I go to Mexico and Guatemala in the future. :P

Richard Simcott Gracias amigo. De donde sos vos? Como aprendiste este dialecto? Man estoy impresionado👍👍👍

Paul James Woaw no sabia Paul.

This is a dead language, isn't it?
@SpeakingFluently8 жыл бұрын
I have just updated the description to answer that very question. It was indeed a "Sleeping Beauty". It's now time for her to wake up from her slumber! :)
@ivanivanov55308 жыл бұрын
Hate to be a pessimistic pain in the ass, but there is absolutely no way to revive the Lenca language. Sorry, but it's not a Sleeping Beauty, it's a Dead Halt. I love languages as much as you do, but facts are facts. There is nothing wrong with learning a dead language though.

I'm from a lenca area in honduras. it is indeed dying out but theres plenty of people mainly adults 60+ that know lenca in honduras. most lenca kids dont know and the vasstttt majority of lenca speakers speak spanish as well, its pretty much impossible to find someone that only knows lenca and not spanish
@ivanivanov55307 жыл бұрын
That's very interesting. I mean, Wiki says that the language is extinct and linguists couldn't find any native speakers since 1974. If your information is true you should inform some linguists about that, because it looks like a scientific sensation to be frank.
@carlossolorzano54546 жыл бұрын
¿Donde podemos encontrar esas personas de mas de 60 años que hablan lenca? Esa sería la mejor prueba para saber si se habla todavía!
