LaShiec has turned tyrant because of Dark Force's influence. Nero found out about this but was killed before he could relay his message to the rebellion. Alisa, Nero's younger sister, must now do what his brother couldn't and free the world from LaShiec's iron fist. But when we do confront LaShiec, he tells Alisa that her father was once the King of all Algol, and Alisa is the rightful heir to the throne. After defeating Dark Falz (not once and for all since he returns in Phantasy Star II, III, and IV), Alisa ascends to the throne and becomes the Queen of Algol.

The 3D in these dungeon crawling scenes came out 5 years prior to Wolfenstein 3D on a console. It even had projectiles and a more in depth and functional GUI. SEGA was really ahead of it's time.

Just beat this right now on the Switch using the AGES mode, and this game still kicked my ass. My heart goes out to the people who I know, that beat this game back in the day, and the people who I don't know who beat this game back in the day, lol. Hearing the non-FM music makes it so I'll always be playing with the FM option. Game is awesome and I'll be re-playing it in the future with graph paper next time!

Finding the hidden doors took me days- until SEGA of America's guide came in the mail! At that time it was free to call and ask for tips on games, and they sent a huge stack of papers and maps and item/weapon attributes, all free.

I think with Noah you can cast "Open" spell on the door, or use the Miracle Key (if you found it in the final dungeon).

+Chris James From what I heard, Phantasy Star Generation 1 is a great game. That and Generation 2 are the only two Phantasy Star games I haven't played. The port on the Phantasy Star Collection is identical to the original if I'm not mistaken.

So I've heard. I'm less than impressed by the sprite animation or the sound design but it's neat anyway. But yeah Collection is a port, so it being identical makes sense, though the Genesis games would be imposed with screen-crunch. I can't tell if the first game now has a bigger screen or if it got screen-crunch too, I forget the resolution of the SMS.

Has anyone ever noticed that Darkfalz begins attacking two times per turn, and later on he attacks only once? It's like you were fighting two of them, but you don't know it because the enemy's HP bar isn't shown. :)

8 years late, but after some datamining, I found that Dark Falz's HP is somewhere between 400 and 500, maybe even close to 511, the upper bound of a 10-bit limit (0 to 511, since 512 would require another 1)

I'm so furious, I've been loving the sega ages version on the switch but i got to the end here, beat lassic, but myau was dead, i had no transers and alice was out of MP so i am eternally stuck on the island, so, thank you for this video, i will replay someday for my own sake but fuck if that isn't the most buzz kill ever at the end of what is a very decent old school JRPG

You can for the first 2 games. Phantasy Star I and II have been remade for the PS2 under the Sega Ages 2500 series as "Sega Ages 2500 Vol. 1 - Phantasy Star Generations:1" and "Sega Ages 2500 Vol. 17 - Phantasy Star Generations:2", respectively. They are really good remakes. And spoilers for Phantasy Star Generations:2: You can revive Nei after Neifirst is defeated by fulfilling an intricate amount of requirements.

Naah the axe is amazing if you let Myau cast "Help" on him (and Alis as well because why not). The damage buff is huge. 2-4x damage of the laser gun.

Glad I got this game on wii vc early 2018 then again on switch. First time I got and beaten this game and went though it again with the FM ost. This game is very impressive for it's time. It's just funny that I didn't grow up playing these games and I was so wow'd by such an old game with such great graphics, good hardcore rpg difficulty. Also I love Alis and Myau. I think Alis is one of the best leading female protagonists also Myau I believe is the first animal protagonist in an RPG.

Just like the megid tech n the ryu's shinku haduken are exactly the same thing,plasma balls created by the anger feeling. Just like the capacity from ryu from breath of fire games change into a plasma shooter dragon,a transmutation tech,possible just for sintozoids, organics are unable to do it.

I honestly find Wind to be a bit of a waste of MP. It uses 12 MP just to hit once more than Fire does. Fire only uses 4 MP, so if you find yourself running out of MP during a tough fight with Noah then I think Fire is the much more efficient spell. Also, how come you're using Fire with Alis? Her attack should be hitting for more than that does, specially once you buff her strength which you absolutely should be doing. Also, Odin's gun weapons are FAR better than single hit weapons in random battles. In a single target boss fight sure, the Laconian Axe can be better sometimes, but there is a randomness to the damage. A constant 20 damage per hit is nothing to sneeze at.

Lol the original translation was so bad, although I suppose it has it's charm. The re-translation is FAR better tho. There is a refined version of this game out there on the net with a whole bunch of enhancements and a far better done translation that is absolutely worth looking into!

Theoretically, the rest of the franchise never happens. The Landale/Landeel bloodline doesn't continue, meaning Rolf from Phantasy Star II wouldn't exist, meaning that the Elysdeon wouldn't be in the Esper Mansion, and so on an so forth.

According to the Gaiden series, Alis left Algo short afterward killing Dark Force to a new star system. Hence Lutz (Noah) became more or less the system's protector

This game came out in 1987. Believe it or not this game holds up surprisingly well for an rpg unlike a lot of games back then. But I'm in the camp that thinks phantasy star 4 is the best.
