I was watching Patrick Lancaster's videos from a while back and he was with Akhmat Spetsnaz and they were haulin butt through New York and one of the soldiers said something along the lines of, "Patrick, did you ever think youd have to escape from New York?" It was funny but still heavy.

I find it improbable that anyone is still defending this really skinny deep pocket.
@LyricalTokarev3312 сағат бұрын
UAF simply abandons its territorial defense units. Those usually do not have the means of transportation in the first place. And between risking being intercepted by FPVs while in open and hiding in dug-ins the choice "to stay" is more appealing. At least the first drone will most likely be equipped with loudspeakers and demand surrender (what is much cheaper for RUAF) instead of attacking on site.
@DontWorryBeHappy7512 сағат бұрын
It's always a possibility that it's still manned. Some Ukrainians have hid in trenches to avoid their own punitive battalions and surrender when an opportunity arises
@stevebuckley778811 сағат бұрын
it's really slow going into an area like that and the AFU aren't completely stupid. Even if they withdraw troops from the area it will be mined to fuck, drone teams will know every square meter and they will use remote cameras to wait for Russian reconnaissance teams. That is just the nature of this war.

The one east of Schtscherbynivka and Nelipiwka? No, that´s plausible, it is sufficiently connected to Ukrainian positions in Schtscherbynivka and, until recently, Torretsk. And the russian positions west of it are also only a "deep pocket". Wowever, that is going to change due to this new offensive. And once the Russians also hold the city limits of Torretsk in the north, they will have free capacities to take care of that pocket. The pocket is going to fall soon. On the contrary, if the Ukrainians did actually abandon those positions without a report a while ago, the Russians would have had much better conditions to also capture eht east of Schtscherbynivka and use that to tackle Torretsk from another direction. But we didn´t see that, instead, there was the stalemate, which we would expect, if the Ukrainans actually held that pocket.

I've been watching DPA videos most days since 2022, yet I still have to go out of my way to find them, i.e., they do not consistently show up in the videos that KZbin recommends to me. Yet Military Summary ones do, even though I unsubscribed after Dima's DPRK nonsense etc. Is DPA being shadow banned, or is it just that Wyatt is not kicking up enough to the bosses at KZbin? I dunno.

The dima comments on dprk troops are a form of russian satire, but some of his opinions especially regarding the wider spectre of geopolitics tend to be quite unfounded and sometimes outright illogical. Yesterday (or the day before then) he made some comments on arctic icebreakers and how russia and america would establish some sort of "alliance" due to the fact that theyre both arctic powers (????). That being said, his analysis of the happenings in the ukraine war is logical, so it is worth paying attention to.

For comparison: Toretsk is 7 times bigger than Sudzha, so the Rissians this week have done a feature 7 times bigger that: "the greatest Ukrainian military victory of the war" According to Zerlensky, Zaluzhny must be drunk and smoking all day long.

Nice work, Defence Politics Aaaaaasia. I kept looking for a legend to figure out zoom level, and then later you brought out the ruler, so yay - the legend was you. Please add in comments about distances if and where relevant, you've had army experience so please apply some of that. In town is close quarters combat so distances are mostly not relevant, but with open terrain I'm trying to see what weapons systems are both sides in range of - down to are they in MG or rifle range? This also dictates things like will they have to do a (risky) mounted dash for the next bit. Thanks for keeping pointing out the validity of data and concerns, it's always a key component of analysis.

@@champferguson5335 Yes very relevant, again where applicable. Ukraine is mostly flat farm land ('Europe's food bowl') but the rest is definitely not flat and provides for quite a bit of tactical maneuvering. eg Kursk region, lots of valleys. Odesa has a lot of boggy swamp.

Power to the people down with evil Empire
