lol why are so many people hating on Tori Amos? OK, Bjork pulls from Kate Bush. As does Joanna Newsom, and Regina Spektor. Joni Mitchell is their godmother. Do we need to mention all of them? Or can we let artists live and create their own art and honor artists that inspired them. Tori Amos deserves respect.

With Kate Bush covers, there are so many efforts that just make me wince, not at all because of a lack of musical prowess or finesse, it's just that many seem to lose the spirit of the songs while trying to best pay homage to Kate. With Tori however, I feel none of that "unintentional cringe", she just captures the spirit of the song and Kate's magical delivery somehow. Chapeau!

It's obviously because of the love. You can see how she wouldn't even make the attempt without truly dialing it in, making it her own. Tori loves the song, the author and is joyful in this interpretation. The fidelity is there because she sang with Kate at night in her jammies. As did we all. None this well, however.

+CaseofGlass Last I heard Happy was sort of retired and working at a place that makes high end audio gear. I can't blame her if she got burnt out if that's the reason. She is one of the most amazing singers EVER and a great writer and musician too, but barely ever got any recognition and is virtually unknown. It's a crime IMHO!

Tori was admitted to a conservatory at five years old. She’s influenced by a lot of music. I’m a huge fan of Kates music, I never heard a lot of similarities. But I guess the fact that they are women who compose, play the piano, have red hair and can sing high is enough for people to think they are the same.

I'm a big fan of Kate since 1990. This is an outstanding and worthy cover of "And Dream of Sheep". Sound quality was not great but Tori put her heart into it and pulled it off.

I can always tell if Tori's playing a piano just by how aggressively she plays. I've never heard someone play so hard, even when she's playing softly. She makes the low notes speak so loudly. It's impressive how confident she is when she's playing.

Although Kate and Tori have some similarities, I feel Tori has a slightly more gentle touch here than the Kate Bush version. Her rendition is breathier and more ethereal. Kate is a little more nasal as well. I think she sings it at a higher pitch than the original too. Both are beautifully sung. Tori clearly is influenced by Kate, but she is not a copycat. She has had to compose her own music and lyrics through the years and she has birthed some amazing compositions. Both are greats in their own rights.
