And to think when Tori does this live and has to sing at the same time, OMG. True genius

Always blew my mind. Having seen this now........unbelievable.

No, she does not "play" it -- she improvises it... each time it is different, and sometimes more awesome than the original. She OWNS the f-ing instrument, more so than most classical pianists. I think this is what proves that talent is a real thing. It's like speaking -- or singing -- to her.
@FrootKat3 жыл бұрын
It’s as she said, she always knew how to play, ever since she was 2, with that kinda confidence nothing can stop you!

Extremely good. I can only imagine how much work has gone into it to figure it out. Freaking opus magnum.

That was absolutely phenomenal. I love seeing someone who can actually play it like Tori!

Smart, that's made my evening. So many play the lyrics which I don't care to hear on the keyboard. Great to hear someone focus on the actual piano. I'm impressed.

You should be ashamed of yourself. I can't say for sure, but I doubt that piano did anything to you! How dare you leave it smoking like that after such a magnificent cover of an amazingly difficult amazing song! I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, truly! Inspirational

What in the world?! Aahhhmmmaaazzzzing! It is so awesome to see actually somebody playing it for real (aside from Tori!)! I love it! ❤️👍Even if it has a notation I don’t think I’ll be able to play like that! Kudos more power! 😊

man that was staggering, really really impressive. I'm such an amateur, I can play a bit but I'm a real fraud haha. You are quite awesome. It is good to see tutorials that attempt to play the piano as the artist does. The left hand is very busy. Are you sure you are not playing two tracks of piano and/or bass guitar notes? OF course, if you are, you are even more awesome

This is extraordinary! It's too bad I can't see some of the notes even by slowing it down. If this had been recorded while listening to the song with headphones, I could have used an AI to create sheet music from it. However, since the original track is playing in the background, it can't separate the piano from the rest properly.

Every single note has been perfectly played. So so sooo accurate. So beautiful. Tori is that artist that can be really hard to reach in terms of piano. You did it, and it's simply beautiful. Grateful to be able to listen to this🥲🤍

This is all about the left hand. I treied to work this out for myself when I was a teen back in the 90s when the internet was fresh and we only had chord tabs to go off if we were lucky! Looking at this I didn't do too badly. I'm a bit rusty now but it's a hell of a fun tune to play! Where can I find the actual manuscript/transcript online if it's avaliable?

First, terrific. Second, what are your thoughts on this as a piece? Technical thoughts or any thoughts. This piece has fascinated me for a very long time, and I wondered are there any running themes with fancy musical names I don’t know, or musical theory at play that I could actually study? Thank you for putting this into the world. It needed to be here.
@stevecaputi56643 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words. IRDK, however. Music theory is a kind of game that people play with music after the fact I think. I picked this up by ear to do a cover with my sister’s band. I usually play from music even if I eventually memorize it. Not this time. I’m not thinking about keys, chords and scales when I play it; just sounds, shapes and lines. A kind of counterpoint. People ask me for the music but I usually say I think it would just get in the way. I honestly think this is how Tori came up with what she played - looking and listening. Maybe there’s a theory behind it, but it’s too much for my puny mind.
@BartKliebert3 жыл бұрын
@@stevecaputi5664 You ever play it with the pedal?
@stevecaputi56643 жыл бұрын
@@BartKliebertYou can see me using the pedal on the solos and maybe a tap here and there. I don't pedal Bach and this feels fugue-like, so I kept off the pedal mostly.

I get that a lot but If I wrote it out it would be a mess. I think Tori's first band was "y kant tori read" because she wasn't really into sheet music... Try slowing the video down and playing along a section at a time - LMK if that works for you!
