isn't "the color purple" also a novel by Alice Walker? Wonderful. As Tori said in other interviews "cornflake girl" is also focused on the idea of "betrayal amongst women" - so sad #WhatsUp

Yes because when you buy raisin bran, usually you have more flakes than raisins in the box, and that’s where she got the idea for the song; the bad female friends being the flakes, and the raisin girls the few women friends you could trust.

I am not an English native speaker and I was always wondering how to understand that phrase: Never was a Cornflake girl thought it was a good solution hangin' wiht the raisin girls. To me it seemed as if the Cornflake girl herself was feeling not-being-able-to-be-part-of-the-raisin-girl-community. And I thought the Cornflake girl was the lyrical I in this song..!? She was, of course, feeling this way, because it was the accepted consensus...
