I've known the Tori Amos name for years, but only in the last few weeks have I chased up her live performances. Wow! She is amazing! I'm perplexed that she seems to have told by big shots in the industry decades ago that she would be confined to playing in piano bars - that there wasn't room for pianist/vocalist/ composers outside Elton John and Billy Joel! I don't think she received a break until age 30. Tori has it all - a superb vocalist, outstanding pianist, clever arranger and composer, plus she is a consummate live performer. She also uses clever odd time signatures like 16/8 and changes seamlessly from 3/4 and 12/8 in the same composition. This is rarely seen in the genre of rock. Tori is modest when she is interviewed too. My wife, when she has seen Tori on KZbin , thinks if she has a fault, that a few compositions can be a little too repetitive. They could feature a few more key changes, or bridges. I suppose what Tori does is change it up by hitting those incredible high notes in contrast to the depth she has in her lower register.

How I adore the way this magnificent Lady is able to channel anger against a fucked-up system and challenge ppl to think in an articulate way! Saying "I'm offended" is a lazy shortcut to close important conversations down, but these are conversations that NEED to be said. As T herself said at one point back in the day, we don't learn unless we're stung by learning, and it's a bittersweet thing because we can't backtrack on it. Sad but v true, and it can be positive because it ain't about what we say or express, but how we phrase it. Bless and love you all, Ms Tori is incredible and I adore her - strength and courage to you all during this time of incredible hardship, my love is with you xx
