Well, she HAS said before that the correct pronunciation was "Eye-Eeh-Eye" so she's probably just pronouncing it differently now, who really knows with Tori

I'm still hoping for Wildwood, it's so beautiful and will be even more so live. Also she has brought out quite a few from the new Album like Wings, Russia, Upside Down2, Cloud RIders, Climb, Breakaway and of course Reindeer King.

I missed her Seattle show, but according to her setlist she did "Wildwood" and that was the only one off the new album. She also did two covers from U2 and Fleetwood Mac, which surprised me because I don't think she's ever done a cover at either of the previous shows I attended.

I don't buy this explanation. She composed these songs on the piano though, right???

I don't get it either. She's done so many surprising songs solo and they've turned out great; look at Professional Widow & Juarez. Some are vastly improved when they're just on piano (looking at you, Trouble's Lament). She's amazing at covering artist's highly produced songs, I'm really wondering why she's acting like it would be a difficult job to reinvent the new album for solo piano.

And Beethoven composed his 9th Symphony on a piano. Your point?

I actually understand what she means here. I work in sound production and design. What she is saying is the album was very produced which is just another way of saying much of it was using sampling and sampling of instruments either on a keyboard or sequenced in. Doing the show solo means you have to arrange a lot of those "produced" parts in a way that just makes it work. I imagine since she prides herself on her piano arrangements she wouldn't feel comfortable playing something that isn't fully arranged or was written on a piano until she did so. It's not unusual for an artist to get a lyrical hook and melody and design the song using programming rather than using instruments. Sometimes the artist does not play a certain instrument and needs organically sounding drums or other instruments aside from the instrument they're more proficient in because that's what it worked out in their heads and they program it. The tech nowadays it's getting harder and harder to tell if a song is very produced if done right. I think we just assume she writes everything on the piano when she probably doesn't. Or she starts to with basics and removes them when it's filled in with the instruments she designed to be there.

She can perform any of these songs live. It never stopped her before when the songs were heavily "produced".

I think she should've prepared better for the tour. Listening to her performances from this year, it seems like she either isn't rehearsing enough or is forgetting everything. Maybe she just didn't give herself the time to adapt Native Invader songs to solo performances. Or maybe everything has to do with her voice in its current state. She's been singing her old songs for years, knows what she can and can't pull off. Maybe she's just more comfortable with her catalog than her new album.

Isn't a song like "Raspberry Swirl" heavily produced? During this past tour, I got the feeling that she wasn't up for long, drawn-out shows. She only performed 14-17 songs each show and seemed to just want to get them over with quickly. I guess she will never get a full band again since she can rely on playback (which is also more cost-effective).

Tori has got a bit tame of late. Bjork is the same. One used to get ready for the next aural adventure, but recently it's been " oh another so so album". Let's hope that her latest offering, Ocean to Ocean is worth the wait!

The simple answer to this question, my friends, is that she's perfectly aware that the new songs don't live up to her old standard...exactly like Depeche Mode, for a long time now she hasn't seemed to be able to release any such seminal albums as Under The Pink, Boys For Pele, From The Choirgirl Hotel or even The Beekeeper... so she's just simply self-celebrating her decade-spanning career on tour by giving her audience what they desperately want...DEAR OLD TORI!!

Is funny, I love tori ever since she emerged. And yet, for one who always talks about nature, mother earth etc, would have so much plastic done to her face is nothing short of hypocritical. And that explains her last few albums in the dust. Don't blame politics for your loss of self and how you used to be. It's insulting to your fans who stood by you for many years and supported you, financially and spiritually. 🙏 🙏 🙏
