I wish she released all of her records with this organic non-produced quality. This is the stuff that makes the hair on my arms stand up.

Ricki Retino As an artist, she probably wanted to explore new territory, which was keeping her mind & heart engaged. It worked quite nicely for The Choir Girl Hotel, which has lots of highly produced songs. And To Venus and Back: also highly produced. Strange Little Girls, too, and Scarlet’s Walk. There was still the combination of her rawness coupled with the production that worked. It was after Scarlet’s Walk that the cutting-edged rawness fell away. Maybe it’s a result of her finally having a child that changed her. Or of just growing older. Or perhaps she had jet fuel running through her veins, and she expended all the fuel. From Little Earthquakes till Scarlet’s Walk (1992 to 2002) she produced 7 albums in 10 years, and all the albums are great, and I can’t think of even one bad song. Not many recording artists in rock history have made that volume of great music consistently for 10 years. Plus, all the touring she did. I saw her 3 times during that period, but I remember she was always on tour. After she had her baby, she probably shifted all that energy into her daughter, and I think that was a great move. Really, her music was her child. Then, when she had a real child, her music took a backseat to the child, which is the way it should be. I think that’s also what happened to Paul McCartney after The Beatles broke up: He shifted his focus to having a family, and his music took a backseat, which is part of why it wasn’t as great.

I would buy all of her albums again if she did all versions like this. This is pure gold.

I love this song and her voice is so serene. Truly an under-appreciated artist

Simply angelic, Tori's voice is just so moving when stripped down... especially the high notes of this work... as someone else noted, makes hair stand up on your arms.. sends a tingle up the spine.... beautiful music always does that... like parts of Handel's Messiah with a full chorus... transcendent.

GENIUS AT WORK Theres nothing better than an acoustic raw and so touching to the bone sounds of ... Toris...!Love the notes that she always manages to squeeze out of these beautiful babies(pianos) of hers ..

Can't even tell you how much I listen to this performance, I love it so much better in this key than the higher one on the CD, it's much warmer Tori is incredible, she melts me every time I listen 🙈😍 #awkwardconfessionals

This is the song that challenge her vocal range a lot, and because of the high octave required, it is so far the richest and most melodic song by her. This version she turns the key down to make it easier to sing I think.

Why doesn’t she look at the camera intently while she’s playing like she used to and mesmerize the audience with her gaze?
