After so many amazing albums she's still able to adapt and innovate in ways I can't anticipate. Her musical genius is inestimable, and some day she'll be looked back at as one of the greatest artists of our time. It's a touchy subject to bring up, but I think that she, along with many other talented people, is overlooked and undervalued because of her gender. Anyway, I personally love her very dearly and am thankful for how generously she's shared her talent, vision, and voice with us.

Honestly, I wish people first listened to the artist explain their creative process before making a comment. If you heard Tori's interview and the reason behind Tashs contribution it would make things much more clearer and perhaps minimise the judgement.
@URDAPILLETAFOREVER7 жыл бұрын
Soooooo FUCKING AMAZING!! Tash fits perfectly but what i like the most is the million of diffeternt sounds PERFECTLY MIXED. This is OBVIOUSLY a breaking-point album (muscally as well as aesthetically). It presents an inflection on her carrer. And i cannot be more GLAD she finally did it! Haters will hate. Bitches will be spreadin' their bitter shit. But it all comes to a particular point: EVOLVING (and being able to get that evolution, of course). GO GIRL!! SO VERY PROUD of being your fan, more than EVER!
@johnconstantinemarinakiski81287 жыл бұрын
Lápiz Mecánico WTF do you mean by "she finally did it?" Tori has been experimenting and evolving since day one from using harpsichords & clavichords on one record to electronic on others. With band or no band, plugged or unplugged. Taking on the classics or singing old southern hymns. Tori has always been tapping into new sonic landscapes. It ain't her first time at the rodeo...hun.

Here I sit in a Seattle coffee shop on a sweltering day. We've just set the record for the most consecutive days without rain in this area's history, and the air is full of smoke from blazing wildfires in Vancouver, B.C. The 80's driving beat, lyrics, and fiery instrumentals of "Up The Creek" beautifully convey a sense of urgency to preserve the earth and resist climate change deniers. Thank you for this call to action, Tori! And just to be clear: Tash's smooth harmonies are BRILLIANT on this track. Love her voice, and love the fact that Tori features her talented daughter on her albums.

Tori said in an interview her intent on this song was to unite her daughter Tash with her departed Cherokee grandfather. He used to say, "Good lord willing and the creek don't rise." Cherokee are known to sing together as a chant...so, it was her way to converse with him alongside his great granddaughter her never met in this life, Tash.
@Goldenretriever-k8m4 жыл бұрын
It's weird because all of her grand parents and great grandparents are listed as white in the census, which is pretty unheard of for cherokee, the Cherokee tribe is one of the most well documented tribes. I don't think she actually ever had cherokee ancestry. ethnicelebs.com/tori-amos

Oh this is what I've been hoping for. Finally a FOCUSSED response to 2016. Fast and badass explosion of sounds, beautiful, poetic yet not beating around the bush nor misanthropic. It's an understanding feeling to have but much of the reactions (from sources as different as Lady Gaga, Trent Reznor or Lana Del Rey) to 2016 were just stunned resigned "Oh the humanity" which is sure a valuable sentiment I don't mean to diss their publications they're also a side of the coin. But this one says: "Mkay Kids we gotta fix this." The music actually brings to mind the concrete threat of wild rising waters to mind. I've been saying from the beginning that we really need the artists in this time also I didn't dare hope for another "fast" record at this point. If this is representative of the rest, this albums gonna be a favorite.

Don't be silly. So according to you, delivery shouldn't matter? LOL Forget for one minute that you're a Toristan; would you then say the same thing about another artist? Although I like this song, am recently reminded of it, because it and the album are forgettable. By the way, delievery is how we, for the most part, get hooked to music.

I can't say that I loved Tori's new songs. Not hating them either. And no I'm not stuck to her past music it's just that her past music is still so relatable today. I don't listen let's say to Boys for Pele 20 years after to reminisce the good old days but because sonically and lyrically still resonates. But I am so worried with people getting angry with people posting unfavorable comments. Tori is not releasing her music for the select few but for all. And everyone, everyone who listens to them has the right to express an opinion. "If you don't like it don't listen to it" it's such a ridiculous and simplistic response. It reminds me of those tshirts that say "if you don't like USA leave" and I think we know what people wear them.
@valentinomiller62517 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't so nonchalantly compare the two ideas. What then would you suggest? If you don't like it, you don't have to listen to it; it really is that simple, whereas leaving America may not be.
@justanothernikos7 жыл бұрын
Valentino Miller In order to not like a piece of music you have to listen to it fist. Then it's your choice (and everyone should respect that) if you will comment on that or ignore it etc. I feel (and it's how I see it from my experience) that people who say "if you don't like it beat it" in any scenario what really want to say is "you have absolutely no right to express an opinion that's different than mine". This is my problem. It's a comment spoken by fanatics. It excludes any dialogue. It's fascism. And we are tolerating too much fascism these days as if it's something normal.
@mikayocc7 жыл бұрын
Well said, nikosm. I've been a fan of Tori's for decades. I've spent thousands on her albums and seeing countless shows, i WANT to love her new stuff. Every time a new album comes out I pray and hope I'll love it like I've loved her first 5 albums. But yeah, it's sad when the new songs just don't connect.
@valentinomiller62517 жыл бұрын
Well stated and truthful. I understand your point, and I'm not one of those people. I just don't see the point in tearing the artist down with vitriol (not you) just because you're not connecting with the new stuff. In my mind, you could just simply state your opinion and keep it moving. When you do state an opinion though, you are courting others to comment, which is entirely their right aswell. Additionally, I'm not one of her stans who spew more vitriol at any cost to protect her catalogue. That type of person has lost sight of reality and his own mind.

I find it so sad that people expect a human being as deeply into life and a truth seeker like Tori, who has deeply varied aspects to her life to remain the young woman she was when THEY fell in love with her music. All of our lives take different paths from the days of our youth and our art changes if we are evolving and honest at all. I LOVE artists who change with their truth like Bowie and others did. Please stop looking for that same old same old. Not just in your music. Cheers.
@valentinomiller62517 жыл бұрын
It's really odd. We, the fans and stans alike, change, so why shouldn't they? Time just will NOT let us be the same. I think it's sad when artists show NO change in their sound or lyrics. That becomes boring and hackneyed after a while.
