Knowing these shots, I still probably won't be able to execute them without tons of practice. Massey is just a BIT better than I am (about 500X). Cool to see, though. He always has some interesting virtually trick shot level shots to demonstrate. Some really amazing cue ball there. Thanks Tor. That 'second' ball draw is cool. I also used his little side arm stab shot for really close work (rock to object) once in a match and it served me well. Raised a few eyebrows, too. :-) Actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it, and incredibly useful when it comes up and you have to move a cue ball extensively. Also not one I had EVER seen before. Not at all surprising that Massey comes up with some incredibly useful and original shots, given the nature of many of his demos/shows (trick). Very rare breed that can be world class trick AND a pro level top competition player. And a few people I know that have had contact with him say he is a really good, very nice gentleman. He doesn't have A good stroke, he has a whole ton of them. :-)

Hey, man, you can do all these with some practice and won't be as hard as you think. Hope you have fun trying them out and good luck! Cheers.

I bought your DVD. I like it, but on some of the shots I was unclear if you were using a regular or jump cue.

Nice video learning a lot I would like to know what kind of tip are you using on your pool cue is it a very soft tip or a medium tip but I cannot see it being a Very hard Tip
@po4RP203613 жыл бұрын
Def not a hard tip, but soft or med wont make much difference and either can produce the desired effect but stroke is the main key to pulling off these types of shots

6:27 shot is possible only for fast cloth.
@MrJdsenior4 жыл бұрын
Makes sense. Good point. And I would hit that target about one time in ten, if I tried it. I also noticed he likes to put 'pocket blockers' right in tight on those shots. :-)
@po4RP203613 жыл бұрын
or poorly installed fast cloth but your right, that one would give you trouble on the wrong table.

I played him one handed no rail 9 footer...close match but I beat him. It was at Rio in Vegas during BCA...he was selling tickets for a raffle and get to play him one game. He showed me a one handed trick shot off the rail...he got close but never made it. It took me ten tries but I got it. He's a nice man. Was going to show him my game but never got back to him. About 3 years ago I think.

at 8:30, cue ball within 1/4" of the object ball, this would be impossible to hit without a double hit foul, unless shooting at 45+degrees or perhaps a very vertical jump stroke?
@mikemassey68023 ай бұрын
Not really, when put lots of right or left English the cue will deflect away from the cue ball. It's a legal shot

Say Mike you say to elevate on some of the shots you should show the elevation of the cue you don't say what the elevation is but good info

when using that much amount of english, how , where does one hit object ball to compensate for deflection ? and if using a LD shaft does one need to compensate at all ?
@po4RP203613 жыл бұрын
Thats something you would need to figure out with the cue you use. You would not only need to know how to adjust for deflection but also the throw effect imparted from the cue ball to the object ball.
@robdetuinman22 жыл бұрын
In general a shot with spin is hit slightly thicker than the same shot without spin. And with an LD shaft you still need to compensate, although way less. Otherwise the cue makers would immediately call it a No Deflection shaft, because that would sell 😄
@ronyrodriguez85332 жыл бұрын
@@robdetuinman2 never thought of that! thank you for the info 🙏

Mike has an incredible stroke.

And some of the shots I can do with the spring about six times but the other shops seems very difficult I tried them six times I have New feld but I guess I need a very expensive Pool table cloth to make this work what do you think sir
@po4RP203613 жыл бұрын
No but if your rails arent very responsive, that would make a difference on some of them. There are cloths (felt as you called it) that do play slower or faster but these shots generally cant be done without a good stroke either.
@po4RP203613 жыл бұрын
If you have a mediocre stroke your not ready for these shots but should aspire to fix that first

How close are are the balls on the shot at 8:45? Seems very easy to push the object ball.

0:30 I think just about every pro player on the planet would just pocket the 4 and bounce the cue ball off the rail about a foot and then play a rail first shot on the 8. Mike's shot looks cool, but it's too low percentage for match play.
