Torn Apart - SHARK FILM

A couple must survive their darkest moment when they're trapped in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by predators and one relentless tiger shark.
Shot on a shoestring budget of just $400 and fueled by a lot of favours, our short film Torn Apart came to life over three months of hard work in Western Australia. This passion project was made possible with the incredible support of Blackmagic Design, who generously loaned the Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K, along with contributions from Artlist, Motion Array, RAAFA Aviation Museum, Challenge Marine, Balga Leisure Centre, and a dedicated team of talented actors and filmmakers.

This movie was shot on a budget of $400 as a actress and producer I'm impressed, it doesn't take a lot $$ to shoot a great film , just great crew and cast and most of all great equipment.

Excellent job and love the realistic use of the Tiger shark instead of the usual GW. Also liked the way the number of sharks were explained as being there because they crashed into a bait ball. Very original. Cheers! Best shark movie, imo- has to be Jaws- still scares the crap out of me when you watch it in the dark, on the water (on a pool float) and that soundtrack starts. Goosebumps every single time.

Spectacular work on the horror and romance side. The actors did a great job and the film looks great. I especially loved the leading lady's performance. @@GoodboyMedia With this story plot? Simply do not the same like all other new shark movies, where always the "girl survives/kills the shark" trope is used. Men: Adventure, Woman get eaten, realistic/believable work and smarter people, Mentalks, 18+. When you take for example: Orca the Killerwale (first watching) - was personally hitted the most when the whale jumped out of the water at the pierhouses and the girl lost her leg.

It's not really bad but nothing more. Too dark the scenes in the water, so too amateurish. And to be honest almost no thrill comes up even not by showing real tiger sharks. It's not so easy to make a real thrilling shark movie. Certainly the classic jaws is in many aspects still the most outstanding shark movie but we have Shallows, Reef , Open Water , Great White and a lot more superb newer shark movies. This here has also no interesting actors , rather amateurs too...I call it with a friendly attitude an average teaser, not more and soon forgotten.

Your feedback might be fair and even warranted, but we’re just a group of friends making something for fun on a $400 budget. My defence to your feedback is that not all characters or humans act rationally in difficult situations or stress, I’m sure you have met at least one person that has acted less than desirable in a difficult situation or deflected something serious by bringing up something petty. What I write below is not meant to come across as aggressive or rude-I’m genuinely trying to engage and am curious to hear your thoughts. Is it possible that expecting a completely fresh idea and story might be a bit much to ask from some KZbinrs? We do focus on being more unique and original in our feature-length projects, but short films are a space for us to practice and experiment with ideas, including concepts that have been explored before. You’ve come in quite harshly, which is likely why another commenter reacted the way they did. Do you have any suggestions for improving this or future projects that go beyond just pointing out the negatives? We’re very open to constructive feedback and would genuinely appreciate solutions-especially if you can share examples of your own work that demonstrate what you feel we could aim for. We’re always eager to learn and grow. Unfortunately, coming in with pure negativity can also feel a bit “mediocre” as you put it and doesn’t help anyone improve. That said, I really do appreciate you taking the time to watch and share your thoughts.
