It is difficult to express how much I love this channel!!! I am very familiar with new HF military radio in Norway!! I have lived in Europe for almost 14 years total! I wish I would have known about Helge’s KZbin channel back then so that I could visit and shake hands! My love of old mil radio goes back many, many years. 73!

Nice restauration, Helge! I restored a Torn.E.b some years ago, it was missing the detent spring on the coil rotor and only had one tube. Got the sprig from Germany. I had to restuff several of the can capacitors, which were leaking badly

Norway seems to have a lotta old German WW2 radio gear just lying around, waiting to be restored. I wonder why? Much props to you for taking the time & trouble to repair this old gear. It’s enjoyable to watch & see the final results. BTW what frequency range does this receiver cover?

the German Braun made about 1960 a multi-band receiver, I think, the "TC1000CD portable radio" with that type of coil switch, like a VHF tube television: the whole block of coils was what moved,

Hi Helge, i know these old radios only from books, mostly. Some old i had in my hands. I always wonder in what pristine status you get them. Those i have seen were totally worn down. No paint, everything is oxydised, and parts are missing. I think you get new old stock from forgotten army depots. Great work. Please continue.

Here in Norway, much of the WW2 German radio equipment was used in the Norwegian military. It was not destroyed like in many other countries. It was later handed over to radio amateurs. Much was rebuilt and dismantled, but much survived well.

Yes, this is strange. They had fantastically fine plastic insulation on the wires. Look at English radio from the same time. There is more bulky textile insulation.

Is it dangerous working on old radios?

This Torn.E.b is not dangerous. It only has low voltages. 90 Volts. But some of the larger transmitters have 1000 Volts or more. My BC610 has 2700 Volts which is deadly. You have to be careful not to touch such voltages.
