tornado gr4 farewell model revell 1/48 scale kit build

in this video i build the revell 1:48 scale model of the gr4 tornado in farewell color
this is a big kit and you get a lot for your money but is it a good kit or bad?
i also make the classic mistake with glue that every model maker has to do atleast once in their life time

Just to say thanks for the video - it certainly helped! Just back into model making after many years and this was just the 2nd attempt at a kit. Can’t believe how bad the kit quality is. There’s a lot of plastic for your money, but as you point out - the instructions are wrong in parts, loads of flash to remove on the tiniest of parts, and after all that it doesn’t fit together without a load of filling/sanding. Have finished the build now and just need to paint. Thanks again

Your opinion of this kit matches my own almost word for word. Bought the Eduard “Tiger Meet” version without research hoping for a nice, simple (i.e. non-weathered) kit. I’m getting there, but it’s a painful build.

Yup it's been one of those kits I nearly gave up on It's looking good though now it's nearly finished

The kit with love and care gets the job done, but it's a shame there are so few options for 1/48 RAF frontline jets from the past 30 years. There is really only 1 option each for the Jaguar, Tornado and Typhoon and generally they're all early 2010s kits from Revell or Kitty Hawk

would love a few more manufacturers to make some more british 70s and 80s era jets in 1/48 but its probably never going to happen because all we seem to get is american or russian aircraft

Hiya YM, this is a good example of why i try to avoid Revell aircraft kits if possible, I'm about to build a Revell Super Tomcat F15D for a friend and I'm curious to see how it compares to the Airfix equivalent (which went together very nicely), well done on the build and remember us modellers are supposed to have the patience of a stone 😂.

honestly i could have smashed the damned thing up once or twice it got me that mad at it i always try and finish a kit but the instructions are near useless at times with so many wrong parts labed the quality of parts is nice and so is the details but its not much good if your not enjoying building it i have a little tamiya brewster b339 on the bench at the moment and that is a box of fun especially with the special masking thats provided by tamiya

It's a shame it's such a pain to build because once all completed it does look good but takes too much effort and fighting to get it finished

damn just looked and your right problem is they have now been painted and decals fitted may have to leave them unless i can find some more decals its the damned instructions from revell are rubbish

I'm not sure but I do remember making the model and some parts where listed and we're not on the sprues stated and I had to find them on the other sprues Awful instructions that have so many parts wrongly marked Check other sprues pal it's probably on one of them

I’ve built 5 of these and after number 2 I literally threw away the instructions and yolo’d it. Some bits are best built completely out of order and allow a little more fettling. Get rid of the instructions and I find it’s the best Tornado kit in 1/48 so far. And I’ve built the old Airfix and Italeri ones too and they are awful…….

i have now got the eduard version that is the same kit with added resin and other add ons with it going to treat the original build i did as my learner curve for the eduard kit thanks for the comments
