It honestly doesn’t look too different to the one here in Disneyland. I will say that fire coming at you is new and a very cool effect.

The main difference is the queue area... this one is much more immersive... although I didn't see any of the "audience participation" bits like they have in the queue in Anaheim...

Damn being from California born and raised. Having gone to Disneyland and gone on the Anaheim version.. this ride definitely was super fire! I gotta get to Tokyo!!!

The queue is different and the title of the ride is different, but it looks to have the exact same track layout as the Disneyland version. Only a few subtle changes in some areas, but that's about it.

Agreed. Different show elements, but the track layout is exactly the same as DLR and Dinosaur at WDW.

I love how it all starts when you first step into the queue line. It's like it's a walkthrough ride first before going in the ride itself.

I was already impressed by the temple outside, then we entered the multi-level dig site and its just like...wow. The Disneysea Tower of Terror has this too. Like 2 completely different queue experiences mashed together

I like that level of immersiveness, like standing in line is like a part of the ride itself... However, this one takes the immersiveness of Anaheim's version and kicks it up a few notches...

I've been on both, and while the Tokyo version definitely wins on reliability/condition and a few extra great effects that should be brought over, the darker, eerier mood of the Anaheim version just makes it the superior one. Everything in the Tokyo version is too brightly-lit, which makes the attraction feel smaller, and the crystal skull is devoid of personality or menace to match Mara's.

I hear that they’re replacing Dinosaur with this in Animal Kingdom. I’m going to miss that ride so much. I remember riding it for the first time in early 2000s. RIP Dinosaur, I’ll cherish the memories.

That decision makes no sense to me. Why would they put an Indiana Jones ride in Animal Kingdom? Hollywood Studios I’d understand, but Animal Kingdom? Indiana Jones is an archeologist, meaning he studies ancient HUMAN civilizations. Plus he HATES SNAKES! How does it make sense to put an attraction, based around a character who studies humans and despises the main type of animal he comes across, in a theme park that’s all about the exploration and preservation of ANIMALS? Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE the Indiana Jones film trilogy, but I don’t think the character, or the franchise, can fit well in Animal Kingdom. Plus, I like Dinosaur too much. I don’t want them to take it away.

@ From what I heard, the entire dinosaur area, rides, attractions in Animal Kingdom will be taken down and will be replaced with a brand new theme. Encanto will also be included in Animal Kingdom.

Yes, but apparently the story will also be different too to fit with the Animal Kingdom, so Indie will be trying to find a creature of some kind.

My wish is that Disney completely levels Dinosaur and starts from scratch with the new Indy ride. Make it bigger and use a trackless ride system so the cars can do more unique maneuvers. I know it will never happen since it will be cheaper to just overlay the ride system as is.

I would bet huge money that you will not receive either version of this ride. Everyone is getting excited thinking its going to be like that, it wont. Its going to be a screen based attraction featuring the new female lead character. The reason Dinosaur is going is because it has too many animatronics to maintain and the park is sick of paying for these rides with a ton of moving characters. I'd say that was the REAL reason Splash Mountain, Maelstrom, and The Great Movie Ride were torn down too. Notice how every one of these rides with a lot of moving animatronics get turned into a screen ride? Dont get your hopes up.

I've never ridden the Disneyland one, but this ride was a highlight of Tokyo DisneySea. The track layout is, I think, the same as the Anaheim one and nearly identical to that of Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom in Orlando (soon to be another Indiana Jones ride).

3:50 The only thing I don’t like about this version is how the finale soundtrack is played during the boulder scene. If u have ridden CA’s version, you know the soundtrack plays 10 seconds sooner than it does in this version.

I've been on both, and I prefer the red lava theme at Disneyland. Also the giant Mara face with projection mapping and James Earl Jones' voice is a better start to the ride in my opinion.

I'm sure they got inspiration from "La valle dei Re" at Gardaland. The way they use the light effects, the soundtrack, how the set designs are done... it seems to be inside it but in a newer version.

The lack of fire and some scenes look suprisingly kinda spare/lacking compared to the D-land version. The idol in the original (with the video overlays) is so much more impressive than the tiny, kinda stupid looking crystal skull. The tornado and fire puff thing are kinda neat, but the d-land version is still nicer overall.

The atmosphere is a bit more intense. For example, at least Mara’s temple didn’t have any human sacrifice performed in it!

Don't think it's scarier at all, possibly on par with, but I'm a fan of the traditional skull room look the lighting feels better, and a skull without an eyeball feels more (sorry for saying this) realistic in nature. The "tornado" wasn't winning any innovation awards for me either. Ultimately though, it really is the same ride with a some set differences. I wouldn't be disappointed to ride this, but I can't say this is better or anything like that, just different.

I’ve been on the Tokyo and the Californian versions. The Tokyo one isn’t scarier, but it’s a lot newer and all the special effects are working properly for it, so it’s better in my opinion. The video doesn’t show it, but the queue line is even more elaborate than the California version as well.
