Really wish Intamin would give these another try - I feel like they could do a lot with their more modern track and restraint design!

The green track on Dueling Dragons at Guangzhou Sunac Land is sort of that, but of course it'd be interesting to see a standalone take since Vekoma is also reimagining their inverts.

YESSS. I've actually been waiting for this review for years.

I completely agree with this review. I rode Tornado back in 2013 and it was a "bucket list" coaster for me at the time, since it's such a rare Intamin "conventional" inverted coaster (SLC). I found it to be very..."meh." Fun ride, but nothing to get excited about. Since I knew that it was probably the only time I would get to ride it, I marathoned the crap out of it, riding it 15 times in my evening at Parque de Atracciones de Madrid (they were running 2 trains and it wasn't hard to get plenty of rides in despite of how busy the park was that night). I'm super glad I got the chance to ride it!

I find the structure to be beautiful! There is something nice about the complex supports echoing the complex track.

The other one at Sarkanniemi is a far superior layout and rides much better. An awesome coaster!

I rode it a loooong time ago in 2002, I feel the same way. I actually like the smooth Space more. I liked it but nothing special. I think I've ridden like 15+ Vekoma SLC and I definitely like the top 3 or 4 more than this. I would also put pretty much every B&M inverted above it.

Tornado is such a weird inverted cosster. See Intamins take on full circuit invert with a lift hill, its definitely really odd of a layout with 2 loops and 1 corkscrew. And then it has the very weird support structure mess that almost looks unnecessary how much there is. But it still looks really fun and is a good fit for the park.

i prefer the other tornado, 1 loop, 1 cobra rolll and 2 heartline rolls
@maxhagenauer244 ай бұрын
@Celatra Yes it does look better for sure but this still looks cool.

@@maxhagenauer24 yes. Our tornado tho is glass smooth on all rows even to this day. not sure i could ride this based on the shakiness compared to ours.

Does that park really have a stand-out headliner? It may not need one because not every park has one but it seems like this one and the Mauer are the draws, more so because they are just plain unique. The other main parks in Spain have true headliners in Gotham City Escape and Shambhala, and a bunch of other coasters that I think would be considered the headliner here.
@CoasterStudios4 ай бұрын
I would argue Abismo is the headliner and is a pretty good 'stand out' ride but I also know some are not a huge fan of it. They haven't added a new coaster in quite a few years, I wonder if thats something they'll consider at some point
@schagerbaantje4 ай бұрын
I would give it more to abismo and even to Tarantula. Those are the 2 coasters really catching your eye when you enter the park from the main entrance. Tornado is just there in a back ground of the park, literary. I was there last week and while other coasters all had lines of 50 min to a hour waiting time, Tornado was running one train and waiting for enough people to start loading... The first time I was in the park 2 years ago it was that we knew it was there else we wouldn't have noticed it until our ride in Tarantula. And back then it was even closed for the weekend and nobody seemed to notice or care (except for us ofcourse, not being able to get the credit 😂🥲)

Been for the second time to this park last week for this one. It was alright but nothing really special. We were lucky enough to get the very last rows on our first ride as we were the last riders they were waiting for to start boarding. 👍🏻 And that when the rest of the park was packed... But it was alright cause we got a Slagharen Annual pass during black friday, giving us free access to this park, the zoo next door and even Parque Warner. Which made us already break even with just the 2 theme parks. So after doing Tornado and view other things like their rapid (which in my opinion was the best one i did that trip) we left through their back entrance and went to the zoo 😂. Which was also really nice i gotta say. Also, if you ever wanne go With Matt or he wants to go by himself, tell him to go in March in the weekend. The park is than open from 12:00 to 21:00 which is insane, there are barely any people, nightrides, and all the water rides are closed 😜 same for parqe Warner. Both b&m's are walk on's in march.

The park can't and won't run two trains on this one no matter how busy the park gets. The coaster was so poorly designed that they can only dispatch a train with a minimum of 20 riders per train to avoid the train stalling mid-ride. Since having two trains forces a train to be dispatched in order for the previous one to enter the station, this could potentially cause a situation in which there are not enough people to fill a train, or send one half-empty and have it stall. To avoid the hassle they have just run one train since basically 1999-2000. Tornado at Sarkanniemmi is SO much better. It's like they poured a lot of money into R&D to make the model actually work. Shame that by 2001 it was probably too late for Intamin to be relevant in the inverted coaster game, besides their shuttle launchers, so they kind of gave up.
@schagerbaantje4 ай бұрын
If it's busy enough they can easily fill it up every time. It's sounds more like lazy operations as Abismo also doesn't run until they can load a full to near full train, and you ain't going to convince me that's also poor design.
@CivilianSatellite4 ай бұрын
I quite enjoyed Tornado. Certainly not a coaster you go out of your way for, but really fun and different from all of the inverted coaster models. I'm surprised you didn't bring up how temporary-looking and barebones the station is.
