Trains at: Welwyn Garden City, ECML, 13/04/18

An excellent evening spent at Welwyn Garden City on the East Coast Mainline where we see plenty of services from Virgin Trains East Coast, Govia Great Northern and freight from Freightliner.
Welwyn Garden City was built in 1858 but it wasn't officially known as Welwyn Garden City, it was first known as Welwyn Junction to coincide with the completion or the Hertford and Welwyn Junction railway. This station ceased its operations on September 1st 1860.
After a long spell of not having any work a new halt was constructed in 1920 and it was called Welwyn Garden City Halt, this was done shortly after the city itself was incorporated, Welwyn Garden City Halt was finally closed in 1926 when the present station was constructed. It's undergone several minor change over the years but roughly still stays the same.
The station took roughly 2.9 million passengers last year.

Some Thameslink 700s go between Peterborough and Horsham and Cambridge and Brighton via the Canal Tunnels on approach to Kings Cross joining with the Brighton Main Line. Thameslink will run services to Ashford from December 2019 and could go between Brighton and Kings Lynn in the near future given they already go between Brighton and Cambridge.

Right ok, well once the new timetable gets implemented then it's going to be rather interesting to see the various paths created because of it

The reason 700s are be used in the ecml is because they are getting ready for the new May timetable which means that thameslink will be on the ecml cause of the services from Horsham to Peterborough and Brighton to Cambridge from May 700s will not be used on great northern as these trains were built to handle the busy rush hour between st Pancras and Blackfriars

A Grand Central that pass through (180105 'Ashley Jackson') it has the name sticker on them so I can realise the numbers instead of the carriage numbers.

I know of the Queensville curve at Stafford I have seen a few films in the past of them tilting, Rugby does have a good one you are quite right. But I think Linslade is currently my favourite for seeing them tilt

A lot of them are being moved to Ely for storage for an indefinite amount of time until a use is required for them, it's because of the 387's entering traffic and the introduction of the 700's

Harley Bardoe thameslink don't start operating fully until May. So for the time being Great Northern are using them as additional sets on the ECML.
