Day after Jonas Blizzard. 6" of snow on the ground. Snowplow hit the streets already. 2 car wide driveway. About 4-5 cars deep.

Thank you for uploading this video. This video is one of the many reasons why I chose the Toro Snowmaster. I bought mine from my local Toro dealer (2019-2020 winter season). It has been my "work horse" ever since. Last season, I cleared driveways, 300 times with it. It has not let me down, even the rubber paddles and scrapers are still in good condition after those driveway clearing. True, It will not scrape those hardened snow/ice on your driveway, that's the only downside I've experienced with this snowthrower, other than that... it's a perfect snow removal machine for me. -Lenny (Ontario, Canada)

@OldLenn. And your videos convinced me to buy the 824QXE as an upgrade to my corded Snow Joe just in time for storm Kenan. Powered right through 27" inches and end of driveway pile easily. ✌🏽

I've been watching all the Snowmaster videos and for some reason this one sounds particularly loud. Curios what you used to record this video. Nice representation of how efficient these blowers are BTW. 👍

The more I see these in use the more impressed I am with them. Seem to work very good even in deep snow. Still think I'll wait till next year to buy one in case of any bugs need to be worked out but, so far so good. Thanks for the video and enjoy your new machine

Thanks Tom. I was actually going to return it if it didn't snow. I prefer not to own a first year model. But after using it, I'm totally satisfied. Plus, the warranty is pretty good. Thanks viewing.

Tom W Did you buy the toro Snowmaster? If so what is your thoughts?
@patrickgleason66108 жыл бұрын
I should have held out and gotten one of these - it would have cost more than the basic 2-stage Troy Bilt I got, but when I watch vids of people using the Toro Snowmasters, it's amazing to me how well they work and how quick they are due to how easy they are to move and use.

Mine is on the way from HD - Feb 5. Hope I get to try it out too. Yours looks great! Amazing snow distance on that one.

I ordered mine from HD also. It comes on a wood palate. Takes about 15-20 minutes or so with slowly reading the the instructions and figuring things out. But really easy. You'll enjoy it. Cheers.

That works really well. I love my Toro equipment, it never lets me down. I think the single stage combined with the personal pace is key, because it allows you to move faster than with a normal snowblower which would have set gears.

Mike S What is your thought on the toro 824?

I've been looking into this snowblower, and I'm glad I came across this video. My question is it lightweight that a woman can operate it? All the other snowblowers have such a heavy body that it's hard to operate. Thanks
@jaydecastro9 жыл бұрын
The snowblower is light. The personal pace feature makes pushing it effortless. Even through the plowed portion of the driveway up top. I don't think you'll have any issues with it. One note, personal pace is a little jumpy, so just have a firm grip on the push bars. Best of luck with your decision.
@bogess17389 жыл бұрын
+Jay de Castro : Nice vid :) As a side note to what Jay said, I would say the personal pace isn't so much 'jumpy', as it takes some getting used to. With a standard type system, you use a lever grip and its on its way at one speed. With this unit, your speed is determined by how far your pushing the bar in, from slightly above 0 mpg to 3.5 mph, and the bar only travels about 4 or so inches. As you get used to it, you'll notice the feeling that its jumpy goes away and it just works, until then you'll find it surprisingly easy to pull a hole shot or wheelie :)

Do the paddles have to be changed periodically?
@PainterD542 жыл бұрын
Don't use gloves or mittens with strings like that on them when operating a snowblower. It only takes a second for your hand or arm to be pulled into the auger and impeller. It happens way too often.

good point, i'll tuck them in next time. but you don't go near the auger when it's spinning.

How are you still liking this? Any issues or quirks. I was going to pick up the 721 by Toro but for a hundred more this seems like a much better bet, even though it does appear larger than their single stage...

still like it. hasn't snow much though. another reason why i got it. it's not big and bulky like the typical 2 stagers

On the website it says electric start,why did you pull start it?
@AnthonyEarl8 жыл бұрын
For electric start you need to plug it into an outlet. See the manual at www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/64/64e5d885-a3ad-4816-862d-f5507556b3e2.pdf It's probably quicker in most cases to pull start. I don't have one ... yet
@bogess17388 жыл бұрын
As an owner of one for the last 2 seasons, I can tell you it is *just* like Anthony says, it is a LOT faster to just pull start it, and almost easier since you don't have to locate the electrical cord, possibly untangle it, plug it in (at both ends), then do all the things you would do pull starting like choke it, prime it, etc. In the case of this machine, even a weak pull can start it (2 injuries and I can still start it no issue) usually in one pull, but occasionally in 2.

@@bogess1738 I know it has been a while since you last commented, do you still own this specific model? if so, what would you say is the deepest amount of snow it could handle, up to 12 inches? do you feel the personal pace system lose traction at all when blowing snow over 6 inches? thanks.
@bogess17386 жыл бұрын
Hi @@windycityrider, I do still own actually 2 now, mine and the one I bought for my mother. My mother was 80 years old, and could still move snow with hers till she passed last year, though for safety I would not let her go play until I was there. I have video of it handling every snow storm we get up here for the last 3 years, specifically clearing areas this blower was not designed for, as my driveway is not smooth in any way, shape or form, and I have large areas of grass / dirt to clear as well. The descriptions for each video tell you the conditions at the time of the storm, which ranges from tiny amounts to 12" - 18" storms (possibly higher with drifting, a few were over the top of the blower). Unlike Jay's videos, though, mine are not wired for sound as the cameras don't provide that, so his are actually more beneficial for 'hearing' the blower engine at peak, or MackRSeries videos where he handles snow over the top of the chute. As to whether the pace system looses traction due to depth, I would say 'no', but it can, like any other blower, loose traction if a few different conditions exist. "If" there is snow left behind the blower deep enough, it will loose traction. I've experieneced this with every wheeled blower I've ever owned though. "If" the snow is too hard packed to go through in one shot, again, same as any other wheeled blower I've owned. "If" your in the mud area and hit a tuft of grass. Things that will stop almost any machine that doesn't have tracks. The 'big' difference between those machines I've owned and this one is that this one is compact, REALLY light, and doesn't have a 'geared' shifting system. The way this contributes to speeding up your clearing imho: 1. No gearing system - when you do get 'stopped', you just pull back a little, then go right back in. It is so much lighter than a standard model there is almost no strain. 2. Turns any way you point it incredibly easily. 3. Single stage picks and throws in one shot. In snow types where I've clogged dual stages, I've never gotten this blower to clog. However, I did have a single stage I managed to clog the chute on previously. The big difference with this style of system is that if the chute *does* ever clog, you don't have to stop blowing, because the snow will still be thrown forwards, where a 2 stage will not. Having said all of the above, while I think it is a wonderful machine, which I haven't felt about any other since my Moto-mower single stage, it isn't a *wonder* machine. It isn't going to go through 4' of snow easily, for instance. It isn't going to cook you breakfast either. It *is* very capable at exceeding Toro's stated specs though, and after 3 years it still starts each winter on the first or second pull with NO problems or treating of gas. At least, I haven't done any of that. Hopefully this is of some help to you :)

@@bogess1738 Sorry for the delay in replying to your comment, the approaching holidays have limited my time online and I finally got around to checking some of my stuff. First off, I am sorry to hear about the passing of your Mom, you have my condolences. Thank you very much for the detailed explanation of your experience with this specific model. I currently own a single-stage toro I bought 14 years ago from a local dealer. It still runs great and actually surprised me this year when it started on the first pull, although I attribute most of that to the 50:1 Tru-Fuel I used in it. I've been researching snowblowers for the last few years in anticipation of when my current model finally breaks down. It still runs strong so not sure what I'll do to get a new one. LOL. My current blower has helped me thru several big snowstorms we have had in the past, a few of those were in excess of 12" snowfalls in a 24 hr period and it did the job, albeit slower than a more powerful two-stage could've done it in but it got it done nevertheless. One winter we had over 80" total in a 30 day period and it handled it all well so no complaints whatsoever from me. I guess I am always leaning to a two-stager for their power but in actuality I am realizing that I don't necessarily need one, especially with the 824QXE model being available. All of my property is concrete, I have no gravel roads or driveways and everything is nice and level. I was looking at the larger 721 single stage before the Snowmasters came out. It seems the 824QXE is the perfect "middle road" snowblower for what I need. It seems to offer sufficient power and snow clearing ability yet not be too bulky or heavy. I recently purchased a Toro Timemaster for mowing my lawn and quickly grew accustomed to their Personal Pace system so I understand hat you mean about getting stuck and quickly being able to just back out and get back into it. One concern I have always heard about with two-stagers is their tendency to get clogged, so that has been my biggest concern. One question I have that you might help me out with is portability. I have a mid-size SUV and was wondering if the 824QXE is easy to transport without having to put it on a trailer? Was hoping the handles somehow would fold down or collapse to get it into the back of a SUV? Sorry for such a long reply and thanks again for all of your helpful info. Merry Christmas.

Wow! Your 824 is EASILY blowing snow 3 times as far as mine. My machine must have a problem. Question is, how do I get Toro to admit it?
@mellowjammer4 жыл бұрын
This video is showing what is probably the optimum snow conditions for this machine...about 6" of powdery snow. Different snow conditions will change the distance that the machine blows the snow. Wetter snow: less distance. Less snow (
