Excellent video on Toroline strings. You do a better job of reviewing strings then almost everyone online. Had a few questions: 1) I use Caviar 1.24 in the mains and Head MLT multifilament 1.25 in the crosses at 45 LBs in my Babolat Aero 98. I want to get away from the Head MLT, but do like it, what do you recommend as an alternative (Sync, Wasibi X, or Enso Pro) with Caviar? 2) I want to try O-Toro what cross string are you using with it? Did you try the O-Toro in full bed? Any feedback on full bed vs hybrid would be appreciated?

I wonder if there is one...Zero is stiffer and imo holds tension better than anything Toroline has (except caviar but that isn't a spin monster) Maybe the closest thing is O-Toro. And who needs another Zero string? We already have Zero...so it's nice that Toroline isn't exactly the same, right? Maybe o-toro is the way to go. I enjoy Zero more when stringing lower.

thanks for the indepth review of the entire lineup. I've been maining a full bed of caviar for most of 2024 and have dabbled with most of the other strings too. Toroline's strings are great, but the information they provide on their website is severely lacking. Im hoping for tennis warehouse university to adds their strings in eventually since the stiffness, tension loss, spin potential, and other factors really great to look at when comparing strings. Even if that didn't happen, I'd hope that Toroline develops their own scales in the future cause labeling every string as surgical control, spin, and power is pretty unhelpful

Excellent points made about the big companies vs the boutique ones. I personally like that there are people creating these boutique strings. I am sure they are billionaires right now. Haha. I bet they have slim margins still as they are in that first 5 years of building a brand. Liste that was a big opportunity for the big brands to use micro influencers. They could have, but stuck to old school just sponsor pros. In the last 10 years all companies that disrupted was smarter at marketing and the boutique string companies are using that play book. They have great marketing, websites, colors and so forth. I have tested many of their strings. Some good and some great. My stringer says I am the only trying cool new things and the receptionist at the club she says those strings look the coolest. Most of these polys are very arm friendly which was the first thing that peaked my interest. I found them to be so. My fav setups are zero/sync and O-torro (the string that felt weird but just elevated my consistency in matches- like a lot more match wins) I am busy testing o-torro / sync. So far really good. I have maybe spent $300 on their strings over the last years testing and trying. I think they can put a deposit down on mortgage with all my spending. 😆
@ZeroLoveTennis27 күн бұрын
Thank you! I agree, obviously, with the marketing haha. It's upsetting to watch some big brand push a thing with some top player that isn't even using it or is only using it because they are contracted to. It comes off as the least authentic thing to me. It makes me distrust the brand more, if anything. And I know the cost of that dishonest marketing is being put on the strings for me to pay for. Not a fan. That, and I honestly think these strings just blow that stuff out of the water. I'd prefer these regardless of the marketing. Good on you for trying new things! It's worth the journey just for the fun or the gems you find and maybe share. That's what I do but I really enjoy it.

Thank you, Justin, for your time and expertise around the Toroline (and Restring) brand. I came VERY close to giving up on both (cutting them out, which I "rarely" do) and now like them a lot better than I did initially. It won't replace my main go-to's; Gamma Jet 17 (main) Gamma Moto 18 (cross) but is nice to have when I'm playing certain opponents where I feel I need a bit more control. The biggest thing I appreciate the most is the durability (as a string breaker) and the snap back as a heavy ball hitter like myself. Lastly... We never did get that Sinner mold (Speed MP) review... Is that still a possibility, or did you just say; "F It" Peace

Thank you for sharing! You're right, I never got around to that. I had a long conversation with AC tennis about it and it was a lot to dig through but I wanted to include his bit in there. I might chat with him again and get a more concise video to include. It also felt like my video may not be respected enough since I only got what was close to his mold, not actually his mold. We'll see, it's hard to keep up with all the ideas. I was intrigued but then halfway through the rabbit hole it felt difficult to make a good video. But I could do it with that disclaimer and share my insights from along the way.

@@ZeroLoveTennis Well, if this is any type of consolidation, there are "a lot" of pros going "lighter" these days to achieve more racquet speed. I believe it's more of a next-next gen trend (that AND smaller handle/grip size, AND, bigger head size 100 racquets, which I've always have done before these trends became a thing, so I know a thing or two about all this stuff) I'm also getting all this info from credible sources like, TennisNerd, TW, and Wilson, which sponsor Andy Roddick's podcast. I guess I'm sort of a Tennis Nerd like you as well, but in a different way...more info based, than tweaking, lol! So, yeah...I think you can release the Sinner Speed MP video. His racquet is basically stock of the shelf but just with 4-5g added at 3 and 9 o'clock for a bit of twist stability and to give a bit more of an extended sweet spot.

That tension could be fine but IDK what strings you're coming from! I suggest trying it at the same or just a little bit lower so that way you know how much more to go next time from what you're used to. String at your reference tension, in other words. You'll likely get it just right the second time. First time is always a bit of a guess.

Thanks for the review. Maybe one day you can try Absolute. Also wanted to say, you're correct about snapper. It has a slight crisp outside and a smooth pocketing sling shot feeling in the sweet spot. Its very powerful for a poly and i was shocked how hard ball came off the sweet spot. The issue is, its to uncontrollable on top spin shots, id really have to bump the tension up to 5 lbs from 52 in my shift. It may be better in a control racket with that extra bump in power and launch angle. What's your opinion on Enso vs snapper in power/control?

I had a hard time controlling the ball in general with snapper so it's hard to be very objective about the power. It pocketed so much that I struggled to brush over the ball to pull it in the court. I might try again sometime but I have been hesitant.

Currently using wasabi mains and wasabi x on crosses on my speed mp 2022. Switched from velocity mlt to this. The difference is phenomenal!!! With velocity I had minimal control and spin. Now it feels like cheating. My balls go to the direction I want most of the times with massive amounts of spin. Feel is better as well but not to the point that I want. It might be to the tension or the auxetic technology of my racket. But overall, wasabi mains and x on crosses is a fantastic choice for spin and control. Now I want to try o toro mains and wasabi x on crosses.

Nice, maybe you are like me and get a large sense of your control by how much shape you can put on the ball via spin? It's straight up one of the best ultra-slick AND crisp AND controlled crosses, period. Right on par with anything from Toroline in my opinion, except a way more connected/solid feel. Especially good for taming powerful mains, such as gut and non-poly's. I get that some of these newer-school companies are all the rage right now, but there are still some older small outfits out there who continue to make killer strings, especially on value, and MSV is certainly one of them.

I think the criticism is that these influencer strings are cheap and mass produced but have good viral marketing: hence "influencer". They use the same factories as other brands which produce in Taiwan like Mayami, Tru Pro, etc. They don't do traditional R&D because its too expensive. Bigger players like Solinco do real R&D.
@ZeroLoveTennisАй бұрын
That's a more interesting criticism but I still feel like toroline strings perform better in the ways I care about. Hyper G and Tour Bite still break on me and fade in performance notably within a few hitting sessions. Does anyone know what the r&d is like for these big players? I know RPM blast was a shelved string from the guy who started ytex. I also know the strings are priced to make up for the marketing costs. It's hard to know how much of the string comes from expensive and good r&d vs just expensive player contracts and advertising especially when they all break so early in comparison. You'd think other companies not blowing money on advertising could focus money more on the product.
