Toronto Bike Lane Removals - The Latest on This Controversial Move - Let's Discuss the two sides. These are decisions that can affect urban planning and infrastructure in cities all across the country in Canada, not just Toronto. Should the province be allowed to tell the city how to do it's urban planning, if so how far should the province be allowed to go?

I'm not even a cyclist advocate and even I'm saying to myself removing bicycle lanes are a waste of time and money. Leave them as they are until more transit is built and see where things go.

They just want cyclists dead. If you take up a lane of car traffic as a cyclist, since you’re a “motor vehicle” they’ll honk at you, swear at you and sometimes even hit you. if you bike on the sidewalk, you’ll get ticketed and yelled at by locals. So their solution is “just don’t use a bike” which, coming from Doug Ford, makes a lot of sense

Your argument is all over the place. The solution is to remove bike lanes that are built on major roads.

Is it? Because right now there is no plan to do that. And it makes no sense. Are there a lot of businesses on side streets? No? then what’s the point. You are delusional

@@wteres Why? Cars can drive on "minor" roads much more easily and faster than cyclists can. Get cars off the major roads is a much better solution.

I live in the Netherlands currently. The biking infrastructure here is beyond what I could have even considered. Roundabouts with bike priority, designated lanes for bikes etc. Underground parking exclusively for bikes. Its incredibly how many people here either dont have a car because of access to public transit or the effective biking system or may have one but primarily bike. Removing the bike lanes isnt going to help; quite simply you cant fit that many cars in the same space you can fit bikes into. The removal is a waste of money and resources.

Removing the bike lanes will not do anything to improve traffic congestion. Even with the bike lanes removed, an additional lane will not be gained. On-street parking will still be blocking the right lane. So instead now you will have increased congestion with bikes competing with cars for space, rather than each having their own space. This is a massive waste of money for zero benefit to anyone. This has zero to do with improving traffic. It's just about anti-bicycle ideology.

We need to stop catering to cyclkists. IF its so dangerous change the laws so that they can only ride in parks and private property. Otherwise let them ride with traffic as the law sais they can do. Drivers should not encounter even one second of delay due to someone who can not ride at traffic speed. All bikel anes should be removed in all cities and towns across Ontario.
