The Leafs haven't had a bonafide goaltender since Belfour. That is the key. They haven't had a great defensive pairing since Kaberle and McCabe. John Ferguson Sr. screwed the WPG Jets, just like his son screwed the Leafs twenty years ago. It has taken this long to recover. I am very interested to see what the Leafs goaltending will be like this year and if Tanev and Rielly gel I think the Leafs can seriously make a run for the cup. We need McCann, Robertson, Knies and Domi to take some of the heat off the core 4. Let's hope Berube can out coach other teams come playoff time because Keefe and his one dimensional approach was atrocious over his tenure despite his winning record during the regular season.

Well, they drafted Tuukka Rask and then traded him for a nobody. Tuukka who I'm pretty was the backup for bostons cup in 2011 but overall had a pretty legit career and made the finals in 2013 and 2019. Much better then any goalie the leafs had in the last 15 years

As soon as treliving re-signed Nylander I knew the Leafs are going no where, Nylander player better till he re-signed and than disappeared!! He's being paid more than any of the Florida Panthers and there's no WAY he will play as hard in the playoffs as the stars on the Panthers! Can you see Nylander diving in front of shots, hitting, be hard on the puck and his man the way Tkachuk ,Reinhart, Bennett, Verhaeghe or Barkov? No way! They should have never re-signed that soft POS! Same with Marner. Waching Nylander play HOW IN THE F*&*&^* didn't Treliving see these things?

Honestly the Chucky trade isn't as much a loss as people say it is. Top 6 forward top 4 D-man pretty young for a player that couldn't do fk all in the playoffs on your team as well as didn't want to be there. Chucky wasn't gonna do that on Calgary at any point ever. You can't get much more then Tree did for him in that situation.
