Great video! I agree with your view on jettisoning some of the deadwood - Olynyk and Brown primarily.

It seems that people don't understand that in the new CBA era, Brown's contract is the value, if he can play well it just increases value. This is how the McDaniels contract was valuable even if he wasn't. Time to catch up people.
@RaptorsReport
@RaptorsReport 2 күн бұрын
His value as an expiring would be to take on a bad contract plus a future asset, if there is a team willing to do that. I’d be fine with that, but people have been extolling the virtues of having expirings for decades. The last substantial expiring contract attached to a bad player the Raptors had was Goran Dragic, and people were saying the exact same thing about him & his contract. He was eventually waived.

Update - Quickly actually has a long injury history. And it does involve his knees. When he's healthy he's amazing. But I wouldn't count on it. 11/11/24 Elbow 10/23/24 Pelvis 4/13/24 Adductor 4/8/24 Rest 3/20/24 Personal 3/11/24 Hip 1/25/24 Quad 12/11/23 Knee 5/7/23 Ankle 1/22/23 Knee 11/28/22 Knee 12/25/21 Conditioning 12/18/21 Health and Safety Protocols 5/6/21 Ankle 3/22/21 Ankle 3/17/21 Ankle 3/12/21 Groin 12/23/20 Hip

@@LelandReview what does getting a bone bruise on his pelvis have to do with a knee issue from a few years ago? From what I gather his knee problem was inflammation, not a ligament tear and he was not sidelined for a long time. Players get banged up. Look at his games played per season.

@@RaptorsReport Don't get me wrong I think Quickly is amazing. Just not convinced he isn't extremely injury prone. Like you said once you have bad knees no player is ever the same.

Did raps not get pick that went to jazz for Ochai & Kelly, then Ja’ Kobe, then 2026 Pacers 1st pick? I think with all healthy and BB trade we could have decent wing depth of RJ, OA, GD and J’kW play the players that have hot hands and better D matchups. I would try to get a D-3 bigger wing in next year or so even if that means moving RJ, GD, or J’kW since all three will likely want more money that we can support as a group.
@RaptorsReport
@RaptorsReport 2 күн бұрын
Yes. They did get a pick they traded for Ochai & Kelly. That was a pretty good move because last year’s draft wasn’t very good.

The thing that gets me with Davion is if he just gets hot, finds a finger flick or a step in to his shot that makes it consistent, he'll be Kyle Lowry. He's a fairly consistent at quick passes in the offense, he finds the next mismatch, just shoot the ball all the way into the basket. Stop being close and be in every time your open good.
@RaptorsReport
@RaptorsReport 2 күн бұрын
I think Lowry was a way better passer than Davion. Davion racks up the assists, but they’re the simple kind. Lowry had better game sense as well. No shade on Davion though, I like him, but Lowry was extremely good!

As much as we are all being armchair critiques, if we bounce back next season, then no one’s gonna remember this season. Raptors delayed the rebuild because under Masai, we never really had to rebuild, just a couple of tweaks and the biggest one was the Kawhi trade. And it was very controversial until about 20-30 games in the season. I am not worried about Bruce Brown - I am worried about picking the right guy in the draft to be honest.

@LelandReview
@LelandReview 2 күн бұрын
It feels like Brown scammed us. He even stated that he knew he needed surgery to his leg when he was dealt here. And he waited all off season to get it done so he could sit out for most of the season. Guess you can't blame him. He made a lot of cash by doing it.
@RaptorsReport
@RaptorsReport 2 күн бұрын
I don’t want to delve to far into speculation, but it definitely feels pretty crummy that the Raptors picked up his option and he got surgery right before training camp. Now it looks like they’re going to get very little for him.

Masai had a chance to get a FRP for brown, he got greedy and wanted more as always. Now Brown is worth as much as Goran Dragic which means a waive.

Yeah, I meant mainly that it will be tough to find a deal for him because of how much he’s owed, and therefor, how much salary would have to be sent back. If he’s not producing, that could be hard to find!

Yeah I think there is always a risk that you remain bad too long and players begin to worry about their legacy and future earnings. I don’t think the Raptors should be outright tanking after this season. They should take their high pick they get this season and start trying to dig their way out of the hole.

Okynyk, Poeltl, Brown, Mitchell & Temple all need to be traded for as many assets as we can possibly get! Boucher shouid be kept & signed on a 5 mill contract for 2 years (10 total). This teams needs to get taller, much better at D , rim protection & Shooting efficiency both from 3 & free throw line Also very disappointed with Masai & the Raptors for the return we got on that Pascal Siakam trade. I know it was Pascals last year & so we were negotiating from a position of weakness but I still think that we could have gotten back a significantly better return. Also why are almost all the players we are getting unproductive & not contributing to winning or making us better on the court (Thad, Otto, Temple, Bruce Brown, Olynyk, Precious & Gary Trent Jr , Armoni Brooks, Weiskamp) why can't we get productive players that can actually make a difference on the court?

Every Fan spends their time & hard earned money on the Raptors; I just think that all of us fans deserve a good, respectable & competitive product on the court. We pretty much haven't had that since 2019 & so as a fan if I see mistakes that are detrimental to the team I'm going to point them out, if you're salty about it then so be it 🤷

Yeah the Siakam trade is definitely looking a lot worse in light of Brown’s play. Not sure I agree with resigning Boucher. He’s 33 and he won’t be a rotation player when the Raptors are ready to compete. They should try to trade him to a contender.

The Raptors need to sell out and play Pg driven basketball, where we ALWAYS, get the ball to the pg, we ALWAYS push the pace and fill the lanes. There has been a failure to be strict in this aspect. WE need the pg touching the ball way more and moving the ball to players who are battling for positions. We can't slow down and try to set up these screens so much because the Center position cannot score from the top of the key right now. We don't have 3pt shooting at the 5 so the center should be dunker and setting screens around the paint. 2/3/4 should rotate perimeter and cut rim. Pg should spend more time inside the 3pt arc and be willing to forcefully grab the ball out of the hands of teammate that has stalled out on a drive or back down. More rim pressure from baseline cutters

The Raptors & Knicks were kind of over a barrel with the respective players they traded for. Their agents knew the teams would look foolish if they underbid and let the players they traded for walk. As for their future flexibility, I don’t think it’s that bad. They’re not going to be a hot spot for free agents anyway.

Yeah I don’t think it’s fair to turn on Scottie at this point. His offensive is inconsistent, but he has a game it just needs to develop more. Another underrated thing about him is he doesn’t shy away from crunch time and taking tough shots.
