Driving from Toronto to Vancouver Canada - Complete Road Trip Time Lapse
This drive is on the Trans-Canada Highway and it is one of the most beautiful road trips in the world.
The provinces of Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia were travelled through as well as a few different time zones.
The drive took 6 days and totaled about 4546 kilometers (2825 miles).
In this video, you'll see different landscapes such as the Canadian Shield in Ontario, the prairies of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, and of course the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Alberta and British Columbia.
The route takes us through many Canadian cities/towns: Barrie, Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay, Dryden, Kenora, Winnipeg, Portage la Prairie, Brandon, Indian Head, Regina, Moose Jaw, Swift Current, Medicine Hat, Calgary, Canmore, Banff, Golden, Revelstoke, Salmon Arm, Kamloops, Cache Creek, Lytton, Hope, Chilliwack, Abbotsford, Vancouver, and many more.
The creation of this video took a surprising amount of work, but it was well worth it in the end and I hope you guys enjoy it!

The video was memorizing and the music was well chosen, peaceful, and relaxing. Originally from Ontario, I been living in BC Ontario for 30 some years and I find it breathtaking. Such a gorgeous Province. The last time I made a trip like this was with a friend as I don't drive. We took the Sault Ste. Marie into Wisconsin border crossing then followed the main highway to Washington and then into BC and finally Vancouver Island. Our trip took us 3 and a half days. Going through the States is far faster but the point here is tripping through Canada. I never made a trip through Canada. I never been to any other Province other then Ontario and BC. So this virtual tour was welcomed. We sure have a lot of flat empty land in this country haha.

Holy! I watched the whole entire video for 4 hours straight and it was so amazing and gorgeous and I can’t believe you drove 5 days + rest stops. I know the highway 17 was my 2nd favorite part of the edge of the river and the mountains from Alberta and British Columbia, Rockies, and Banff section is my 1st favorite part of the video! Hi! I have started to watch your videos recently and all I can talk about is how impressed I am. I live in Toronto and it has always been my dream to drive across Canada. I've been to Quebec and B.C. but none of the prairies, the three provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta are the ones which I want to visit next, and all by car! I'm turning 16 soon which means I can get my G1, and then after 8 months I'll have my G2, allowing me to drive alone for the most part. you often hear that Saskatchewan is one of, if not the most boring province in Canada but tbh, there is a kind of beauty in the flatness of it, being able to see such long distances with few obstructions. maybe that's just because I live in a province where you don't get to experience that very often, but still

This was my first time seeing the Prairies and I felt the exact same way. In Ontario you don't see this kind of openness, so I was blown away by the endless fields and nothing obstructing your view for miles. Definitely appreciated the beauty in that landscape

The flattest part of the Canadian Prairies is between Regina and Swift Current. I remember as a kid being on a train going from Thunder Bay to Vancouver, I was 10 years old and had never been across the Prairies before. It's almost like an optical illusion the first time you see it.

Love the video! doing this trip in a couple of weeks but I want to do it in 3 days. which hotel/inn would you recommend to spend the night throughout the journey? And what would you suggest to pack for a trip like this. I've a couple more questions :)

3 days eh, you'll really have to keep your breaks short and cut back on sleep too, but I guess it's doable. For hotels, in general, I never have any issues staying at the popular budget chains like Travelodge, Super 8, etc. On this drive though, I didn't need to stay at any hotels since my SUV is converted into a mini camper. On other trips, I just find cheap hotels with a decent rating. For packing, it's hard to say because it really depends on the person and your specific needs. Maybe just take the things you would normally take for a 3-7 day trip. For more ideas, you could google "road trip checklist" or something. Hope that helps, if you have more questions let me know. Glad you enjoyed the video Mike! That's a great suggestion about the GPS map but unfortunately I haven't had any luck figuring out a way to do that yet. I'll be looking into it more now that you've reminded me. I was going 100 kph/62 mph on the highway, and this was recorded at 15x speed, so this video is basically 1500 kph/930 mph. Hope that answers it!

I partially agree, because, about how this traveler goes way slower than the speed limit, like, what is this, 10 miles slower, like come on, Unclecoolie isn't like that, I know going slower is safer, but not only it takes longer to get to the next destination, it holds up traffic. However, the only thing that you are missing is, if you play it on 0.25x, other cars passing by is doing the exact speed limit, and I can tell that a long road tripper is not doing the right speed. 1% passing cars, 99% other cars passed us.

I was going exactly at the speed limit. Going 20-30 over the speed limit has become the norm for most drivers since the pandemic, and my old truck with it's big off road tires would get much worse gas mileage going faster

great video! would you rather drive the usa route from toronto to regina? i hear the gas is cheaper, better roads, more amenities but i would think the northern ontario route is more scenic.. but not sure about doing it in march with the weather

I haven't driven the US route yet, but you're probably right that the Canadian route is more scenic. The US route is probably more flat and boring in terms of scenery but yea more amenities as you said.

I am very curious when you crossed into Winnipeg, did you have to go though road border checkpoint of some sort? Also when you made your way to Calgary did you have to go through border check point while driving by?

There were no checkpoints at the time that I went - they were all removed by then. So it was all smooth sailing, no barriers of any sort. But, Manitoba did have restrictions in effect. Only essential activity was allowed for travellers (food, gas, etc.) transiting through Manitoba. And if I remember correctly, we only had 24 hours to pass through Manitoba after entering.

I went through about 10 full gas tank refills, but in reality I probably stopped a bit more for gas because it's just more efficient sometimes (i.e. if I'm stopping for a washroom or a food break, it's best to just get gas too even if it's just half a tank, instead of making a separate stop for only gas later on)

Honestly I have no idea about that, but if I had to guess, it won't be happening any time soon due to the remoteness and low traffic in Northern Ontario. The demand for it might not be there yet.

@@travelxoverland You would likely be correct about demand for a double roadway of the Trans-Canada in northern Ontario being low, due to only about 6% of Ontario's population living in Northern Ontario, and with the large portion of that 6% living in Sudbury, Sault Ste Marie, Thunder Bay, North Bay, and Timmins they likely only double roadway the sections of Highway near those population centers

Hey Tanya, glad you asked. So all of the Ontario content (except Toronto to Thunder Bay) was recorded with a different car. The car in this video is used only for big road trips. The Ontario-only car has about 202000 km (125500 mi), and this one funnily enough just hit 202000 km today as well. Haha I think that's awesome because I've done that on many trips too. I just fold my car's back seats and a mattress fits on top perfectly. Makes traveling affordable!

Why is it that every time someone does one of these cross-country road trip videos and they go through Calgary, no one goes on Stoney Trail? It save you a LOT of time when going through Calgary.
