been in Canada and Montreal for 20 years but: -the english pop in montreal already speak english and 90% of the french population can speak english fluently, its extremely hard to find a french canadian who cannot speak fluently english. -summers in Montreal are much more exciting that Toronto. There is much more thing to do in MTL than Toronto. -Montreal has a unique french-english identity while Toronto is basically just a generic north american city -The landscape of the city is just better -very affordable housing. even housing in downtown is way more affordable than Toronto. - The tech industry is more developed in Montreal than Toronto - If you are unilingual and only speak english, you can come to Montreal get friends and you can be fluent in french in 4 years if you put it on a little bit effort. I have several friends who came in Montreal with 0 french and now, they literally refuse to speak to me in english. My only regret is that we dont have a basketball team :)

While I agree that Montreal is a gem in North America, I think, as a non-French speaker, finding a job in Montreal is relatively harder than in Toronto. Toronto is also arguably more diversified and offers a bit more business opportunities ever since the rush of companies relocating to Toronto when Quebec wanted out. Montreal's transit system covers the island way better than Toronto though the wait time is also significantly longer and the vehicle are quite old and not as easily accessible for people with disability. I feel like I would have loved Montreal more if I had spoken French, which is why I'm thinking of taking French classes in University. I visit Montreal quite often, in the Summer and on Christmas breaks.
@klarissaclairiton90104 жыл бұрын
90% of the french population can speak english fluently = is a false statement. If you go outsideof Montreal, very few people speak English fluently = almost all of the Anglos have left Quebec. How can you speak fluent English if there are no more Anglos to speak with ?
@philmuda4 жыл бұрын
@@klarissaclairiton9010 Been living in Montreal for 20 years, I am almost 30 now. I worked in at least 6 stores and 3 electronic stores dealing with all sort of people immigrants and locals. I never saw someone below 40 years old who cannot speak english fluently....Fluently simply means to be able to speak at a regular pace without waiting each sentence 20 seconds to search your words. For people above 40 years old, Its understandable that their english is not perfect but even there they speak it enough to hold a conversation. I would like you back up your statements that almost all anglos have left Quebec, seems like a very cheap prejudices. Quebecois arent perfect but its a very old and cheap prejudices to say they are antienglish or that they dont know how to speak english

I would point out that, in reality, public transit in Toronto is terrible. The metro lines cover a very narrow portion of the city, and there aren't nearly as many bus routes. Having street cars is not an advantage in and of itself when buses serve the exact same function.

salary is related to the cost of living wherever you go, the only thing is that here in Quebec we pay 2 taxes but an exemple, alot of my people who live there in montreal move to Alberta and Vancouver for 6 months for work there because it is really well paid, but once again cost of life is really high there so thats the reason why they spend only few months there and come back to Montreal with a good stack

Montreal is now considered as the first choice of students in North America, which was held by Boston before. Vancouver comes in 3rd, and Toronto in 4th. Both Montreal and Toronto offer great choices. As for the best, well, that depends what you do wish to study, if you are fortunate or not. Both cities actually offer a lot, but you will have to dig in more by yourself according to what you want later, "best city" is not exactly the answer...
