In all of the research, I've done the consensus opinion I've found when it comes to timber matching is just to make sure your L/R/C are timber matched. So I used klipsch for my lower stage and SVS prime elevation for my height speakers. I agree with getting those speakers behind your screen, you'll get a much cleaner look. I love the fit and finish of your room. Nice job!

Thanks, I was in denial for way too long, thinking I would suffocate in a blacked out room, far far from it! Audio is sooo much better not to mention the 'real' sensation of sitting in a theater!

Nice home theater, awesome set up! This is my only suggestion on your speaker setup. Isolate your center channel from your subwoofer. Either add an auralex foam below the center channel or if you can find a corner for your sub and get a stand for your center channel it will help you avoid vibrations or image distortions from the sub to the center channel.

SVS subwoofers are excellent! They have much lower frequency responses that subwoofers from most other manufacturers. They technically have lower frequency responses than subwoofers in movie theaters because the ones in theaters are more concerned with output to fill larger spaces.
@gameroomtheater

Thanks man, still pleased with them at the moment, they aren't the biggest ones but I feel since closing the room off they are doing the job, and what they can't do, the bass shakers do 🤣

Thx..I do listen to music often, and have external apps to put to good use. Once you go externally amplified it is difficult to go the other way for the front soundstage. That's a great looking theater. Making a baffle wall to put our speakers behind isn't difficult at all, especially if you already closed out the side wall yourself. IT makes a world of difference to! Grab your wife a heated blanket for the theater. She'll thank you later. Look into using WS2812 LED light strips under your seats with a controller so you can sett he colour and brightness. Put a black light blocking panel "in front" of the strip so the light will only light up the floor directly below it. That's all you need. If you ever make it out West again stop by and check out Clanhold Cinema!

Thanks! I used matt paint to minimize shine and it was flat black. Ceiling is a slight gray but appears almaot black as well. The black felt on the other side of the room and is attached via a staple gun. The staples are almost invisible and worked well. I could use some acoustic panels in one spot but the room measures well as it is. Also I use the Denon 4300 as a preamp. I have 2 Emotiva XPA5 amps. I specifically bought the 4300 was it can output 11 discrete channels via the preamp section, although only 9 can be powered.

I am stuck in mid-build design paralysis... it is like I have writers block and can't figure out how I want my theater to look. For example... fabric walls... what fabric did you use, why did you pick it and how did you install it?
@gameroomtheater
@gameroomtheater 4 жыл бұрын
It's just black felt from Joanne if you are in the states. I went with it for total light absorption and acoustic properties , but the real bonus is it is easy to reconfigure the room without having to paint and patch walls if you need to then move speakers / upgrade in the future etc etc. I installed the fabric with a staple gun, staples are near invisible.

@@gameroomtheater yep I got a roll of Royal 3 velvet from Joann that I am using for screen frame masking when I go from 16.9 to 2.35. Did you staple it at top bottom and sides then cover with crown molding?
@gameroomtheater
@gameroomtheater 4 жыл бұрын
The cloth is to the ceiling, the crown molding was done a year later. It's only stapled at the top and the bottom very sparingly. Don't need many at all to hold up. I'd you decide to do the whole to triple velvet may be unnecessarily expensive, the cheaper felt should be fine.

Hey Toronto, I'm still in the planning stages, our rooms look very similar in size What are your theater room dimensions and how far are the two rows placed. I think you have the first row 9' from the screen..What is the height of the riser for the second row to have an unobstructed view.....Thanks again, George.
@gameroomtheater
@gameroomtheater 4 жыл бұрын
room is 13x20. riser is 1'. Back of front row to edge of front seat is 2.5' which is kind of tight, 3' would be better. I have a step in the back of the riser as 1' is pretty high, with these seats 8" would have been enough, but for my old seats this height was needed, so depends on the seats you get.

Thanks mate! 😁WAF is always hard to achieve, especially for these 'extra' shenanigans lol. I had spares and hence put them to use. Honestly though, the sensation they create being on has been amazing for me. I sit working in my theater room with these running and slowing changing, I love it. They are big ugly digital posters that you can't use as TVs anyway since they are bulky, but the black felt wall hides their ugliness. Thankfully they are bezel-less. Key is just use what you may have already
