Here is the Indian perspective - Yes we had farmers protest in India, but you know what happened during those protests? Farmers came together irrespective of their religion(sikhs, hindus & muslims). But JT made it all about sikhs vs India when it was not. The government even withdrew the laws after recognizing humongous opposition. The same BJP lost all seats in punjab and a new party started by a hindu leader won a thumping majority over "sikh akali dal" & "bjp" in punjab. it was never about sikhs, it was always about the disagreement between the farmers & the government. BJP is in full majority, yet they withdrew the laws. The BJP literally discussed the laws with leaders of the protest for weeks to figure out middle grounds yet INDIA was labelled as if we are against democracy. What did JT did during truckers protest? Hold your referrendums, demand whatever you want, India does not care about it. But defending those who openly threatened to kill the sitting PM(Modi) of my country while celebrating the murder of Indira gandhi (PM of India in 1980s) meanwhile regularly attacking Indian consulate and disrespect the Indian flag is crossing the line. JT clearly crossed the red line. You are weak and pathetic. Don't lecture us about freedom of expression, Don't talk about diversity. 1 Indian city is more diverse than whole of CANADA. You do NOT represent diversity. You have no idea what real diversity looks , feels & works like.

I think you are wrong about Khalistan. It would and should not be allowed by other nation states to pass referendums on other countries. That is literally the definition of not respecting the sovereignity and integrity of another country. It would be justified if there were calls for it within India but there is no such movement in India. It is largely mobilisation done for vote bank politics. You can have protests if you feel there is some injustice that needs to be addressed, but to call for balkanisation of a diverse country like India is uncalled for. Calling for assassination of leaders and diplomats and killing of people of other religion is the definition of terrorism. Not to forget this is all in the same thing that happens in Pakistan, only its in the name of Islam. Weirdly enough that is how the failure of the Pakistani state started so Canada should be very cautious.
