This game has epic potential. Want. It. Now. But seriously, take the time needed so it fulfills its potential.

You still need to force the aircraft to stay on target one second after weapons release, in order to avoid hitting their own ordnance after dropping. This simple delay will be far more realistic than aircraft instantly pulling away regardless of their dropped ordnance.

I LOVE the General Quarters Alarms! It is a very unique touch to this game, and is a big reason to why this game caught my full attention. Many games do not offer the General Alarms in the game, and it played a key role in many battles in the naval theaters and all of WW2. Been always looking for one that had that feature, and Im glad to say I’m looking at one. And the Bozeman on the M1C is just the cherry on top! ❤ 💯 Been watching the build and production of this thing since it was published on steam, and I am definitely going to be one of the first to preorder/order. Something that finally looks like a game changer for the naval warfare community! Fair Winds and Following Seas! o7!

I love the USS New Orleans Class so this video was right up my alley! Nice flak bursts and other particles. I really hope there are different types of ship damage! Like maybe blowing off the bow or stern without sinking a ship - which happened to New Orleans and a few other lucky ships in WWII. Maybe a certain % chance of capsizing, fires getting worse, magazine hits that blow ships into small chunks, and so on. Damage control men, lifeboats, and swimmers would be a nice touch too. During the attack I liked the slow turn speed of the ships; in too many other games ships can turn on a dime, stop fast, and avoid torpedoes etc too easily....so far, ship maneuvers seem accurate. Looking forward to more!!

I've been following development for a while, with mounting excitement. Everything looks really good. Sorry if this has been asked before, but is the plan to eventually add visible crews to all the naval guns during general quarters?

Thank you for following us ^^ Might be a kickstarter goal. For now it is not a priority nor a feature considered to be a core matter I am afraid. Cheers :)

I mean it looks cool and all but after that dramatic buildup and music at least one torpedo hit would have been nice. :) Still i'm really looking forward to the release.

I am sure the pilots that risked their life for that attack woulda wished they hit as well.

Will this feature both sides, and give us realistic torpedo bomber vs CV as we saw many times (Coral Sea/Midway, etc?)

This is just volume 1 of the game so only American's as far as I know. The Japanese will come later.

Volume 1 will feature only the US Navy. It is planned for Volume 2 to have playable IJN and RN.

Excellent. Were they "long lances" ?
@SheepInACart Жыл бұрын
Nah, the "Long Lance" was a name given post war to the Japanese 61 cm (24") Type 93 oxygen torpedo, its immense size and relatively delicate nature meant it was only launched from surface ships. Japanese submarines used the smaller 53.3 cm (21") Torpedoes (Types 92, 95, 96) while aircraft used the 45 cm (17.7") Torpedoes (Type 91, 94, 4). For reference the 61cm is 9m (29.5feet) long and at 2,700kg (5,950lbs) reaches almost three times the weight of the 45cm, which let it travel 32.0km (35,000yards) at 40knots (74kph, 46mph),,vs the air dropped 45cm which by wars end could travel only 1.5km (1,640yards) at those speeds. When comparing the air dropped 45cm Mark4 vs 61cm Type93, the warhead does increase 56.5% from 313kg (690lbs) to 490kg (1080lbs), but notice how this is vastly less proportional to the weight/volume.Range was prioritized over boom as most other nations torpedo where shorter in effective range than their cruisers or destroyers guns, requiring either a rush or an ambush, while the long-lance allowed torpedoes to be dropped from far outside range, and deployment made neither noise nor gun-flashes to give away your presence/position.

Not to sure here, but shouldn't the attack be a crossing pattern, one from the aft or in front and the other from side? The game has been on my wish list for years!
@StickMenMaster Жыл бұрын
In the best of the worlds, you had TBs attacking from both sides. In reality, this often couldn't be achieved, but what as achieved more often was that the dive bombers were attacking from one side while TBs from the other - Hammer and Anvil.

Not a great attack, stern-chase is tough. Definitely not Akagi's squadron, Murata would be appalled. But like the three-headed dragon meme, could've used a derpy, oblivious ship sailing along in a straight line behind the other two, lol.
@DrydockDreamsGames Жыл бұрын
The stern chase is due to the cruiser maneuvering away early on from the approaching aircraft (pretty much at the moment the torpedo action alarm rings in this video). That's the whole point of the pincer. A pincer works this way specifically to help the second element capitalize on an early turn of the target - they do not approach originally at a 90° angle, that would defeat the purpose of having the target react to one of the elements. I don't see how Murata would object - they're dropping closer than the doctrine range, and they're approaching exactly at the right original angle. Blame doctrine, not them, or us ;)

Maneuver is the best way keep your ship to alive and avoid getting hit.

If the ships were AI controlled than you truely got very far into this branch of the development. Very well done Sound effects thoe dont need commenting
@DrydockDreamsGames Жыл бұрын
They are indeed! Gotta tweak that a bit by probably decreasing reaction range for long lances compared to steam torpedoes to account for the lessened visibility. But right now it looks good enough I'd say. Based on the original randomness of the drop the ship can really be in dire straits (gets hit once out of three I'd say). More planes and the resulting torpedo soup would probably really hurt the cruiser badly every time.
