Actually works and dyno tested! and it will get better, Audi is currently using a bi turbo system which one turbo is electric to minimize lag! This being said, i find it to be too expansive for 20 hp, there are turbo and supercharge kits out there with mapping /car specific that offers more hp and clean bolt on parts for the same price. What would make this better to purchase for this price? Make this affordable and people will buy them like crazy!

All fluff and flair. Being an experienced turbo guy I notice one important thing, the inlet side of the compressor is so small that it will choke anything except small, low power 4 cylinders. He needs to do this on a 78mm housing instead. The upper end HP May increase if that motor is strong enough. So ask him when he’s going to move up to larger housings.

dont support their horrible product. Its impossible for this improve the efficiency with any noticeable amount. Just to make my point look at the graphs they provided. They're a perfect example of misleading graphs. The one for the subaru actually shows it makes a very negligible difference for a short time just off idle, but yet still doesn't actually decrease spool time. I did engineering work for one of these companie as a college thesis. I promise you they are 100% bullshit. Also all their pressure readings arent actually done from am actual boost gauge they are done from the map sensor, which is easily affected by numerous outside factors. After midway through the rpm range the "torqamp" becomes a giant restriction in the intake,and when the battery dies it becomes a giant restriction.

Audi and Porche and F1 had been using this concept since 2016. It's just that it's becoming more mainstream amongst automakers. The fact that you can have an electric turbo is interesting because it's the fact that you can isolate the entire ICE system to stay mechanical as an ICE without having to input an electric motor into the drive shaft or transmission in anyway. It's seemless and efficient.

Atmospheric pressure is 1 bar which is 14.7psi, so the rest is above atmosphere which is a positive pressure (boost) but boost pressure really depends on how much cfm it can pump into an engine and how much the motor consumes. This is why the turbine needs to spin faster when the motor spins faster... probably makes 6psi on a motor idling, but at high rpm can't keep up and just causes a restriction

I really like the idea of this but anyone using electric motors in serious performance applications is coupling them directly to the driveline, not driving air pumps. This is a cute little torque filler and it is very badly presented. 6psi sounds like a lot. It was offensive, with lab coats and “the Prop”, (Gorgeous Aston Martin Engine) took it to a level of “clown” worthiness. I am not trying to knock the product. I was doing the research to see if it was the next Toy to add to an engine. Unfortunately it is more likely to harm a engine , rather than to boost horsepower. There is already an awesome system on the market, only another $1500.00, to $2000.00 bucks more , the procharger… only one man that I saw videos he built his own electric blow dryer. Good luck guys.
@papapetad
@papapetad 2 жыл бұрын
@@patrickdufresne8485 Nothing against the tech. It just needs some proper apples to apples here and again, performance applications optimize electric motor torque by coupling them directly to drivelines instead of turbos although F1's apparently use hybrid turbos, integrating a motor within the turbo structure to help with spool until exhaust gasses push them enough. It's a different take on it and it has to take into account the absolute limits of vehicle mass with regards to battery banks and such. For more classic applications, it seems much more logical to have a "normal" turbo making use of exhaust gasses with motors coupled to drivelines. That way, they can achieve torque filling while allowing for big power addition with mass being less of an issue. It helps with weight distribution too since the big electric motors are mounted ideally.

You need to use the same fuel throughout your test.Plus you cannot accurately get ideal numbers as the time to change the fuel change you ambient temperatures and humidity. I am not saying there was no increase in HP AND TORQUE as there was but your numbers are not accurate.Also you did the test without a air filter which also compromised your test as IT IS NOT REAL WORLD NUMBERS.Secondly you demonstrated it is a restriction on the engine when not in use.

Look into maxiell 3000 farad supercapacitor Bank. This system will comprise of 6 2.7 or 2.8 volt 3000 farad capacitors they need to be in conjunction with one or two car batteries it will help with the instant shock and or initial drawl of voltage from the electric motor. What this also does is it helps keep your alternator from getting such a jolt from trying to initialize and put power out instantly this lessens the wear and tear on your alternator. This will also keep the voltage inside your vehicle consistent you will not have any voltage drops.

idk man, but i did see the cleetus video on these and it seems to be a bit of both on the introduction of pressure to the motor, my assumption is that they just went with a switch as on their website they advertise it differently, they advertise it as an ecu tune that introduces it slowly to max. but im unsure as i can't find these on many cars. but i do see a reason for electric turbos as they are much easier to install than normal turbos, plus you don't need as much plumbis as at the end of the day it's eletrically ran. remember that normal turbos are ran off exhaust gases, so they need a blow off valve, whilst many eletric turbos work on both, torqamp basically removes the working on both and is fully electric so it does seem reasonable, but i doubt it will be as good as other eletric turbos you can buy.

They should be able to run 15KW motor on these things. Standard 48V lithium batteries come it at 30,000 mah. And at only 10c, that would be 300 amps of draw continuous from them. 300 amps times 48 volts is 14,400 watts, or 14.4KW I just rounded up because in the world of RC cars and stuff, 10c is incredibly low. Especially if we're talking about race drone batteries, which can hit 50c to 100c ratings on the batteries and withstand assloads of current draw. For reference, that would mean 144kw on the 48 volt 30,000 mah battery if it was built to the same c rating as the craziest race drone batteries. 144kw is equal to 193HP. Whereas even the basic 15KW is 20HP.

Not this one but in 5 years plus mechanical ones will be useless. Technology moves faster than mechanical engineering. I say that with a heavy heart as I'm useless with computers and electronics but great with engines but it's true. I also don't have a problem with it. I just know in the future what I do will be classed as old school and will come nowhere near that. But I'm fine with it too. Good luck to the people building these and proving people wrong.

I completely agree with you. The next several years will prove incredibly interesting as far as electric motor driven forced induction. Hopefully we start seeing twin electric superchargers, capable of running 20+ psi into a 5.0L like the coyote motor. Complete with a quality intercooler and superconductors to power the turbine wheels. Instantaneous boost, increased drivability and power across the board. And hopefully they only get cheaper with time! I'm very excited to see the effect this has on all facets of the ICE industry. Imagine the potential for diesel motors. EGT monitoring will be a thing of the past and engines will be capable of much leaner running parameters, 50, 60, even 70:1 air/fuel ratios! Massive power capabilities coupled with extremely fuel efficient, low rpm cruising. As a power stoke and mustang owner I am very excited for the future.

The gains are all in the lower end to normal peaks. 95% of people want to see peak gains, so if they see a low end performance increase they dont really see it because it didnt take the engine from 200hp to 250hp or whatever the numbers are. These guys are saying I can help you increase the shitty low end performance of your lazy engine and give your motor a restriction at the top end. This is why it wont make it big in america. Super capacitors weighs 10 times more per unit of energy stored, lithium polymers deliver enough power and can be charged at 4-10 C (meaning in 6-15min to full charge) What would ve interesting is a Super capacitors bank in addition to dump a lot of regenerative energy into, but that would weigh a lot and cost thousands of dollars.

I can't see this working on anything bigger than 3L. Cletus Mcfarland was only able to get 5psi out of it on a 4 cylinder cobalt and it decreases as rpm increased because of vacuum, so I honestly can't see this working on a bigger engine. Maybe it would help at low rpms but at higher rpms i feel like it will do nothing. It might even restrict airflow.

This electric supercharger needs a bypass flap arrangement similar to a DDEC Detroit Diesel Silver series 2 stroke. In that system turbo boost pressure overcomes the spring in the flap inside the blower when the turbo spools up. The problem as I see it in this system is when the supercharger is switched off. Any motor has to suck through the small supercharger intake and in so doing it has to rotate the compressor causing unnecessary rotation (and therefore wear) of the compressor wheel bearing, as well as naturally aspirated restriction. To more fully evolve this system, a bypass flap arrangement could be incorporated into the actual supercharger. A good idea but needs work.

Boost is a measurement of restriction to some point. With how small that electric compressor is any positive pressure is impressive and surprising. For your Subaru, also being a small turbine, it has no problem creating high boost pressures. On the other end, that same turbo would have troubles holding even 10lbs on my small v8 because all boost tells is how much a volume of air is being restricted. If the blower overcomes vaccum, even if it only makes 1psi, pumping losses are being improved and power is being made. Now is it worth the money? I can buy a Gen V m90 for 65$ and kill this thing for the money but that's apples to oranges.

@@whocares5188 Consider the fact that my v8 will make 450-500rwhp at or below 10psi. If two of those compressors could move the volume to hold 10psi to redline, it would make a ton of power. You can't focus just on the boost number. A gt25 at 10psi vs a s480 at 10psi is a difference in airflow to support over 250 more hp with the s480 at the same boost level.
