I live 5 mins away, I worked there in the 80s when it was coral island, it was always packed full of tourists, loads of people saw the ghost of the little boy that was sucked through the filter of the swimming pool staff used to see him in the basement, staff areas and kitchen, there was a small room had dishwasher so-on, in one corner there was a hidden alcove lead to a fine exit and we often saw him run through towards the door and disappear, I lost count of how many people saw a mist floating around the lights at the full height of the ceiling above the stairs, I have very fond memories of coral island.

The double nets were to stop their birds getting out mainly. They had free flying fairy terns. They also had terns flying and nesting in the boxes you found with the auk enclosure. They had a mini marshland opposite the Otter enclosure also with free roaming/flying birds. The penguins were on the lower deck, then the seals. The area you entered was the gift shop. A real pirates cave for goodies. Was a fabulous day out with the kids. Some great memories and sad to see it's gone 😥 Have a squished penny as a souvenir from the machine, but sadly never brought a guide book. Thanks for the video and bringing back the memories 😊
Did you upload this again or did I enter a worm hole again 🤔 you did see security last time. 🤷♂️🤪

Think the ramp at the start was designed for Queuing people if really busy, it keep them all in the one entrance area while the go past the entrance at top when or if top door staff on collecting or punching your tickets!

That was actually living coasts and it was massive. I think I’m the end it dropped you in the cafe. That long ramp avoids a lift which could cause serious problems. Not sure if I’m right it closed suddenly but all animals found other homes. I think it built up a large amount of debts. One interesting fact, that area at the top of the ramp painted black. That area I think it was used in the old CBBC series Sarah Jane Adventures

I miss that place, it was somewhere I used to go with my family when in the area. You could get a joint ticket with Paignton Zoo as well so you could visit both attractions without spending to much. Its not obvious due to weathering but you walked over a zebra crossing in the penguin enclosure that was for them to cross the path.

First of all I love your videos. I have been to the UK back in 1976. You have a beautiful country. Myself, I live in Jacksonville, FL. There are no old places to get in and look around. Yes, for years I used my very expensive metal detector on the beaches of Florida. And yes, with in a year I paid my detector off with all my finds. From a Rolex watch to a wedding set of his and her rings. But now being a amputee, I sold my detector. Now I watch your videos and give them all a thumbs up. That's how you get paid. But keep up the great work. It's like going on a vacation, but not spending any money. I'm now on social security, plus with the high gas prices, I don't take trips like I used to. Thank you again from Jacksonville FL. And feel free to contact me on Facebook. I go by my name, Michael Liese. P. S. If you know anybody in Germany that does what you do, all my relatives live over there. Plus back in 1977,I went to cooking school in Bad Reichenhall.

Funfact: at 1:05:05 when you look into this keepers store there was a pole with a black plastik tip. This is a target stick, which the keepers used to feed some animals. The animal has to tip the target and the keeper give them the food. Also could it used as a training stick for the animals. Nice Video.

The otters were in the paddock/swim area behind the window he looked through and couldn't hear his mate. They had a gorgeous waterfall and treetrunk on land. Happy pair when I saw them. Opposite mini marshland and free birds. Sad it went 😢
