Here are my 2 cents on how turbocharge engines work Everything is exactly the same till exhaust but instead of throwing these gases out Turbocharge utilizes it Working Step 1: After the combustion these gases go to a cooler it can be a liquid cooled or air cooled whatever it may be. The purpose is to lower the temperature of gases that were emitted after these tiny explosion. Step 2 : These cooled gases go to the turbocharger which is nothing but in laymen terms a turbine. To make it more simple you can imagine it as a windmill. These windmill shaft is connected with the inset of engine. Step 3: Because of the extra power[wind energy which was converted to mechanical energy] coming from turbocharger. Inlet turbine moves faster. Which results in more oxygen. And guess what this more o2 supply leads to more room to add fuel Thus resulting in bigger explosion. Giving more power to turbocharger.

@@sabeelahmed1157 yes to some extent. Instead of using the emissions from the combustion like turbo charger Super charger uses a mechanisam to rotate the turbine using chains/belts. Maybe I am wrong here not very sure.

There is a small correction in step:1 Hot exhaust gases coming out from combustion chamber don't send in intercooler but directly diverted into turbines. Reason is very simple, high temperature and high velocity exhaust gases holds very high kinetic energy which is what turbine exactly want. So It make no sense to cooled down exhaust gases. Intercooler is placed next to impeller to cooled down compressed air before send it to engine. Cooler air is lot more dense which can carries more oxygen with it.
