After meeting the singer in person I can say that I honestly expected views numbering in the millions (unfortunately for all of the wrong reasons). The singer is a haughty and pretentious, condescending trifle of an artist stereotype who touts herself as a gift for all senses. She had the gall to tell the crowd to shut the fuck up during her performance. She was behaving as if understanding her art was above everyone's head. She kept railing on and on about how she as an artist did this and that. It was as if she felt she was the only artist in the world, insular enough to assume that she knew more than the next person no matter who they might be. I can only hope that such atrocious conduct on her part is not routine. Dividing or creating conflict within an audience is the mark of a person with little respect for the opportunity they've been given and arrogance well demonstrated. There was no personal attack or deliberate offense warranting such behavior, and thusly it is one of the most embarrassing things a person can experience in public (that being unnecessarily attacked by an act at a venue). It jeopardizes the safety of the subject of the "shut the fuck up". Of course, the crowd was deservedly rather small, and there was little concern on my part for my well-being. Dressing like another innumerable tumblr girl and believing you are right about causing conflict is far from any remote justification for such behaviour. :)

+Jeff Anger That's unfortunate. I currently live right near where she was raised, it really is a different and weird place. I just found out about her clicking on a random youtube vid, and this turned out to be the song I was looking for after hearing a sample. I saw Chris Cornell in Atlanta in October, and it was amazing. There was a young lady that goes by Hemming who opened up for him, nobody knew who she was and after her first song she owned the venue and you could only hear her guitar and hear voice while she was playing. Amazing young woman, imo she is a better guitarist and much better singer than Torres. She was also quite funny and very humble and friendly. But, I mean... As fixated as everybody is with their phones, while she played all eyes were on her. She had everybody captivated, simply amazing. I'm pretty turned off of Torres after reading your comment, sorry you had to go through that.

Jeff Anger I'm not completely surprised to hear that. The way that she presents herself in these early videos and songs demonstrates a strong talent and simple style, and that is what drew me to her in the first place. Her recent efforts to be complex, edgy, and sexualized seem forced, unappealing, and premature. Based on your comment, it seems that this uncomfortable shift in style is present in her showmanship as well. That is a shame, because I think she has great potential, but a bad attitude could ruin that permanently.
