I remember going to a nice hotel on the Texas coast late 90's and we decided to hang out at the nice pool that day and just hit the beach in the evening, and brought our boombox and a shitload of beer down to the pool. There were at least a couple dozen strangers at the pool. We put this CD on first, fully expecting that within a few minutes people would object. But nobody did. We shared some beers, had a mini-party with strangers with this as the soundtrack, was a glorious moment for me and post-rock in general lol.

My favorite part was listening to this on vinyl, it just seemed like it came out of the 70's , like some lost artifact or memory, just a perfect 10 side, like a pink floyd side, you can't really ask for better than this from an experimental music group, around two minute mark I originally thought that something was wrong with my turntable! It was playing psychoacoustic effects on me!

It's another complete story from Slint, indeed! This was so more progressive than Slint itself, more like a project. @classicrockteen17848 жыл бұрын
I had heard about this group and looked up "Tortoise best song" and wound up here. Now I wonder why I even bothered. Very lame and I think a lot more progressive music is better than this. I could not finish this track after getting halfway, bc I was listening to the same droning, sure-as-hell-not-melodic keyboards and repetitive, uncatchy bass and guitar Overall, don't know how this band and genre is so liked in the first place... 👎🏻

+Bryce Hecox "droning, sure-as-hell-not-melodic" Dude you do realise this is post-rock right? This is not prog-rock (the common use of the adjective 'progressive' to such genres can be misleading). If you like ambient and krautrock (e.g. bands like Can, Neu!, Faust..) you should like at least some parts of this tune. I guess you just came here with the wrong expectations. I don't know what you had read about Tortoise
@slugcereal86476 жыл бұрын
