New information about Russian atrocities against Ukrainian prisoners of war appeared thanks to an interview with an officer who escaped from the Russian army. Konstantin Yefremov spoke in detail about torture, threats of execution, and rape, about how Ukrainian prisoners of war are starved and deprived of medical care. The Russian side is silent about the crimes and still does not allow the Red Cross Mission and other monitoring groups to see Ukrainian prisoners of war, Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets said. More details - learn in our story.

Russia is a sick society. Imagine doing such unspeakable things to other human beings. Meanwhile, Russian POWs are housed, fed, and receive medical attention. The world needs to know what Russia is doing, and it should appear on the front page of every newspaper and on ever TV channel.

Make no mistake... their crimes have been noticed and are being investigated.... but it will be a hollow victory for the victims. Russians will be going through the Hague for the next 50-100 years, which means I will not be alive for most of them. Sorry for the bluntless, but you are making out the world does not care, when there are tens of thousands of cases being processed right now... and they will be heard.

You are absolutely right. The West is supplying Ukraine with weapons and ammunition as if they had put on the handbrake. Russia would feel strengthened by a victory over Ukraine in the intoxication of invincibility. Out of the feeling of false strength, NATO countries are then attacked from Russia and so begins the third world war caused by Russia. The West wants a negotiated solution, and they should have learned from history that appeasement of fascist dictators will not help. As with Hitler, it will only have the opposite effect. Consequently, there is only the solution that you suggested, that Ukraine obtains the weapons systems that guarantee a military victory for Ukraine. Russia must be severely defeated militarily. The sanctions against Russia will have to become much tougher to ensure that the Russian economy collapses for good and the ruble's exchange rate plummets.

At the start of WW II by father was caught crossing into Russian occupied Poland, from German occupied Poland, and sent to a Russian labour camp. There he saw a lot of fellow prisoners die. My mother told me that many years later he still used to wake up screaming from nightmares about this. We should also never forget the cold-blooded murder of 22,000 Polish offices at Katyn: and there were other such incidents. More than 70 years on the Russians are still the same rabid animals.

Another consequence of torture is trauma. Trauma can sometimes be genetically inherited by future generations. I think ruZZians know this. They have experienced it themselves for over a thousand years of the ruZZian state traumatizing its citizens. Yet, ruZZians appear to embrace this collective trauma, almost taking pride in it. The Ukrainian people are entirely different. They seek healing from trauma, not a perpetuation of it. 💙Slava Ukraini!💛

Dear friends, We in the Netherlands will reintroduce social service. This isn’t about joining the military, a person can also service the hospital, learning traits to use when a pandemic hits the fan. The goal is to create unity and more important: to battle the propaganda of Brokers. Not everybody can be rich, and it works extremely destabilizing on the long term. A person aged 17 will perform social service for 1 year, to contribute to society. Experiments have shown, that young adults will make better choices after this service. I encourage Ukraine, to do the same, especially with foster children, in order to boost unity and the Ukrainian identity. This is not child labor or slavery, this is the lesson called: life experience.

My father was a political prisoner in Belgrade at the beginning of the Cold War. Just before a scheduled inspection from the Red Cross, the guards would remove prisoners from their cells, stand them up, and beat them. The prisoner, taken by surprise, would fall to the floor and cry out in pain. The guards would stand him up again and ask him why he screamed. The prisoner would answer "because you hit me". The guard would shout "liar" and hit him again. The prisoner would fall and yell and the guard would ask "did I hit you?". The prisoner would say yes and he would be hit again. The guard would ask again "did I hit you?". The prisoner said no and was put back in his cell. One time though a prisoner was dragged up the stone steps by his feet. You knew this because on the stones there was a trail of human brains that came out of the prisoner's cracked skull. My father was 20 years old when he saw this.

This man will make an excellent witness for the prosecution of the sub-human inhumanity if there are any left to prosecute when the Kremlin has finished sending them for extermination on the front lines. Their surrender for trial MUST be part of the terms of surrender by whoever is left in change after the collapse of the Russian empire. For their own sake, it might be better if hey do not survive the war. For humanity's sake, too - they could not be held with ordinary, decent criminals, who they may contaminate or risk lengthening the sentence of when those ordinary decent criminals conduct a much-needed cleaning of the gene pool. I would suggest a token amount for doing the world that favour and saving the cost of keeping them in jail for what would have to be a whole-life sentence. Besides, it would be hard to argue against a defence that the crime of murder requires a human victim, rather than a pest control operation. And then they have the cheek to complain of russophobia in the civilised world? I've scraped higher life forms off my shoe after not looking where I was treading.

The Russian people need to learn the truth about this war and about the crimes against both foreigners and Russians, whom they poison and wrongfully imprison. That will cause suffering because they will be ashamed of their country, but the important thing is that they realize they have a history of imperialism and it needs to stop. It is shameful of Russia and makes it a pariah. It leaves Russia isolated from countries based on the rule of international and internal law and also disconnects Russia's economy from those countries. Russians have a history of subservience to a central power, first the Czars, then the Soviets, and now Putin. "I am not political" is their motto, and this war and others such as against Georgia are the result. The passivity of the Russian citizens and willingness to hate without reason, that is, to become fascists, enables Russia's atrocities. They can't avoid responsibility by being passive. Sins of omission are sins as much as are sins of commission. Ukrainians have a history of independence, starting with the Cossacks. They show it with the Orange Revolution and the Euromaidan, and they are showing it now. Slava Ukraini!

The Russians are far more capable of manufacturing military equipment, and have been manufacturing on an ongoing basis. That was discerned from a broadcast of some discussion among Russian officials where very expedited deliveries were being demanded by the Putin regime. Of course they can still get everything they need, or can make it if they cannot get it. Russia is not quite as backward a nation, nor is it as isolated and cut off from foreign supply as some in the media suggest. They are simply wrong in their mislead. Not sure if Russian propaganda has been successful in that regard, or whether it is simply prejudice and ignorance in relation to the facts. While Russia has continually lacked the ability to manufacture some civilian sector products its military industrial complex was typically more self sufficient than the West tends to give it credit for. Russia, similar to its prior incarnation as the USSR, does not like to have the facts about its military industrial complex come out into public. Russian media are not permitted to expose those sorts of details. We can assume that Russia has everything it needs in terms of its vast wealth of raw materials, and as to its capability of manufacturing specialized military items, across the full spectrum of componentry and parts. Even though there are things that Russia is not good at, or not considered able, to produce in large commercial quantities, we should not assume that they cannot produce what they need for military production in specialized workshops. That does not in anyway go against Russia's preference to obtain some dual purpose, civilian and military use, components from China and India where it can do so. That offloads the work that specialized workshops would have to do. Look on that as a bonus. There is reason to believe that Russia can continue military production of anything it produces even if it were totally isolated and did not have allies such as India and China to draw from. Not knowing the capacity of the specialized workshops, and not knowing how much of the Soviet military infrastructure was preserved and in fact upgraded since the political collapse of the USSR, is a concern. Even the CIA does not seem to have much of a solid grip on that nowadays. We know they exist, but we cannot quantify the qualitative assessment that is involved. Keeping in mind that the Russians learned the hard way, during the Soviet era, about constrained supply and ongoing "sanctions". Putin and Patrushev are both old KGB men who know that side of the problem quite well, coming from the previous era and it is entirely unthinkable that the Russian regime, under their direction, failed to maintain and upgrade the specialized workshops under their control. So you do not have large factories, as you do in China, cranking out toys for civvies in massive quantities, while pushing military hardware out the back door hush hush. That is a very Chinese thing, and Russia is very different. In Russia you have a secret, well hidden, state owned and state run, military workshop producing what the military production line needs and nothing for the civvies who are told there is nothing for them and nothing to see there. They have to buy their toys from China or wherever else, same as North Americans tend to have to do. We have to assume, unless very solid and significant evidence comes forward from Western intel agency sources, that Russia is entirely capable of manufacturing anything military that it knows how to make and will continue to be able to do so, within its unique and very secretive military industrial model. A model definitely derived from the Cold War era and capable of thwarting Cold War constraints in respect to its specific capabilities. Though keep in mind that Russia has advanced technically, by a huge leap. That does not imply that Russia would choose to build its newer designs rather than reverting to older designs, for production. Older designs can be produced much faster, and are less strain on the specialized workshops which are certain to be capable of the new designs as well. Even Russians do not design and prototype something that they have no ability to build. That is another bit o media bullshit that is playing into the Russian game and it is mostly likely exactly that, merely bullshit that makes the Russians look much weaker than they are. Something the Russians prefer to appear to be for obvious reasons. If that belief as to Russian military complex incapacity and weakness is perpetuated and believed then Ukraine allies will prove much more reluctant to act and will not act quickly enough as to providence, and that definitely serves the Russian purpose. Remember that the Russians are masters at media manipulation and a lot of what we see that appears in the media is a product of that manipulation, devised to serve Russian purpose. The Russians as inept, incapable, near to being destroyed, is far from the most probable truth, but it does serve Russian interests to make Russia appear to be something far less than it is. Make a Siberian tiger look like a mouse, and then the tiger takes the prey is a very real part of the game.

Spoken like a true Russian propagandist. The fact remains that Russia has invaded a sovereign, peaceful country that does NOT belong to Russia, and is engaged in a brutal, illegal, and immoral war of aggression. This is nothing to be proud of. It is barbarous and shameful.

@@irenec2863 Because the "production" they commit to paper takes the same form as the demands - paper. Then the maker blames the shipper and the shipper blames the receiver for not getting them all to where they are needed. They are very good at that game - what do you think paid for all those superyachts and foreign villas? On paper, they were supposed to be the second-strongest army in the world. Right now, a declaration of war by Andorra or San Marino would tip them over the edge. Sark, Guernsey or the Isle of Man joining in would create mass hysteria. The old Russian saying comes to mind "As long as they pretend to pay me, I will pretend to work". The Russians lead the world in one thing - telling the boss what he wants to hear, irrespective of the true facts. They even have more than one word for it - "враньё (Latinised to vranyo)" and "туфты́ (no Latin equivalent, but meaning to cheat on a quota of bureaucratic requirements)". That and barbarity, of course.
