What REAL Bad Anime Looks Like

There's bad anime, & then there's whatever this is. My reaction to this was both warranted, & understated. Even the worst movie would be crushed like a tin can for attempting to approach something of this level. If you're gonna do a roast, it better be legendarily poorly animated, make the characters look different every single scene, & have music that's so cheap it's pulled from a public domain sound library...& this has all that & more. This whole kenny lauderdale bad anime thing is surprisingly hard to do. You don't generally run into something on this level. I scrapped this review something like 30 times, came back to it, scrapped it again, rinse repeat & here we are. If there was ever a VHS tape that had a real life cursed anime on it, this would be it. Sometimes it doesn't move, sometimes there's live action for no reason, sometimes it'll look like it was drawn by different people, in different towns, who had all never seen anime before. This doesn't scrape the bottom of the barrel. This anime isn't the bottom of the barrel. This anime isn't below the bottom of the barrel. This anime doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same SENTENCE with barrels. Worst anime ever? ehhh, probably not but it's a special kind of bad that's difficult to describe. In a way I'd be less harsh on it if it were worse. At least then it would be more funny to make fun of it. At least then I would have some kind of reaction to it. If they ever make fake anime to lure anime fans into a field with some plastic ducks this is what it'd look like. This isn't something people should watch, it's more akin to what they'd test crash test dummies on to see what people's tolerance for garbage is. I know the kenny lauderdale channel has a few reaction videos to bad anime, but this is kind of the last one I can do. If there's something worse than this I don't want to know about it. Charge man ken was funny bad, this is just....bad bad. The person who wrote it used a PEN NAME, they didn't even attach their real identity to this. You wanted another bad anime? Well this is it, I hope you're ready for it.

You make a fair few assumptions of quality which are within reason, but a few are slightly misinformed. When it hit this time stamp I felt the need to stop and start correcting assumptions. 13:21 - It's unlikely that they purchased music from a media library, but what IS significantly more likely is that at some point the creator or whoever owned the music went bankrupt and that it got bought and added to a media library after the fact. It happens a lot with old lost media and even with popular media like "The Sims 3" for example, it's main theme music is licenced out to dozens of documentaries and series for background music. You need to not make so many assumptions or provocative statements because of an absence of information or understanding of common practices in industries. Old media, especially generic components like audio, get recycled and resold.

How did I know just by looking at his face that the protagonist was going to be named Ken? Serious question. Why was everybody named Ken back then? Edit: OK, so I just googled it and this was the first result 'One of the most common origins of the name Ken is from Japanese culture, where it can be written using several different kanji characters. One variation of the name Ken in Japanese is 拳, which means “fist” or “power.” Another popular kanji combination for the name is 健, which translates to “healthy” or “strong.”' So people probably just liked the sound of it because it correlated with a word that meant something cool in their minds. Like how so many American characters seemed to be named "Max" in the 80's and 90's. "Max" can be short for "Maximilian" but it's also a synonym for "maximum." Homer Simpson basically ruined the name forever with "Max Power" and you really only see it for over-the-top characters like Max Payne nowadays. Speaking of which, "Payne" is another name you only see used when the writer is feeling particularly cute and punny, as with "Major Payne" and "House of Payne." This is a truly a rabbit hole with no bottom

"It doesn't matter how fast I make it... _it doesn't move!"_ A lot of anime is bad, but you know that - on some level - it's kind of *amazing* when it doesn't give a single f**k about the laws of time & space! 😆🤣😆

At least Charge Man Ken was indescribable because of how crazy it was but being so *boring* you can't describe an anime? I firmly believe this was made by a man, that man realized how mind numbing it was, found out how to access the backrooms, clipped it into the backrooms, where it was then *rejected* by the backrooms, and has been sitting in the auction house ever since.

It's weird to feel nostalgia for the days of internet reviewers overreacting to bad media. Especially in this age of Real Life problems just piling on top of one another to the point where it looks like society is going to collapse and the planet be reduced to an unlivable wasteland. But sometimes, you just need to listen to a guy say, "Man, I had to suffer through this, so you have to as well".

I think the feeling you are describing Kenny is one that I've also felt. It's kind of like 'media loneliness'. It's a sort of melancholy that arrives when you realise that you watching something that no one else has (to your knowledge). It's kind of spooky and sad; that feeling that you can't talk to someone about something. Can't moan, can't gush. It's like if you watched Twin Peaks and you wanted to talk to someone about how amazing it is and there was literally no one else who had seen it. Not even online. Not being able to share an experience with someone can feel very uncanny and it's the reason that MST3K works so well. You feel like you are watching these lost movies with a bunch of friends. Could you imagine what it must have felt like being someone who had seen Manos the Hands of Fate on their own, before MST3K covered it? Pretty fucking lonely I imagine.

In American cartoons, the earliest exercises an animator does is a bouncing ball, a leaf falling, and a flour sack walking. Not sure how anime schools do it. But, now I am thinking this is a student film from some very ambitious and dumb kids.
