Chris doesn't look at anyone else the way he looks at Jayne. Whether it's on the ice or sitting on a couch on a chat show, he never takes his eyes off her. And he will always sit as close to her as he possibly can - it's always so funny to watch him inching closer (like he's hoping no one will notice!)

I could guess there was an enchanted evening here and there when they took the edge off curiosity. Sometimes there is only one way to get past that point and move along. Having been there with all questions answered one can remain forever satisfied. Don't discount how much they love the ice and how rare and precious it is to find a perfect partner. Odds are they would never find another of the caliber they need.

True professionals know they can love one another but not in the romantic way because it will spoil what they have. There are many different versions of love. I feel they care for one another & match each other well. But living together & working together would have been impossible. They look like a romantic couple but are not & just as well because otherwise their partnership would never have lasted 50 years. xoxo

Yes!!! I thought the same thing. when I first discovered torvill and dean there was some footage of Chris, Jill, and their two children but at forst viewing, I thought it was Jayne. I also think theirs is more than just a platonic relationship. though they have chosen not to take action (except to express it through their ice skating) it is obvious that Chris has and will continue to spend his life looking for another Jayne.

If chris and jayne don't feel more than just platonic friendship for each other, I'd eat my - socks! Just because they choose not to take action to explore their feelings further for each other doesn't mean that they don't feel more for each other. I think Chris has been looking for another Jayne in his life. has anyone noticed that Jill Trenary looked rather like Jayne - colouring, height and even at one stage, hairstyle!

Not to mention had the same initials. I noticed that they had a lot of similarities back when he had first started dating Jill, I wonder if Jayne ever said anything to him regards the fact he pretty much found a substitute Jayne. I find their whole relationship fascinating. I kind of want to believe a guy and girl can have that type of close friendship without any other feelings getting in the way but Chris himself has admitted to at the very least a snog on occasion.

Fascinating...I find their relationship fascinating but sometimes very frustrating to watch because as much as they protest and say they are just really good friends there has to be more underneath all that chemistry. I believe them when they say they haven't acted on it (except for the dabble) because they always wanted to put the skating first. Jayne even said she fell in love with Chris but had always heard that mixing love with your skating would ruin your partnership so when they started skating seriously that ended it. Chris has said he and Jayne were very "intensely" involved and did not date other people in order to focus completely on their skating. They contradict themselves all the time with the "just friends" thing. I think they did fall in love, forced it away for the sake of their skating and then always feared if they gave into their feelings it would ruin what they had. (All my conjecture of course) but if thats true...which is sure seems like...its actually really tragic.

@@Awall79 Thank you for expressing what we noticed and observed between the two but as you said, they tried to forget that feeling for the love of skating. They have seen others who did marry and then separated. That would be devastating for their skating.

@@Awall79 I agree a 100% with you. It is tragic to love someone and not be able to fulfill it. My wish for them is to one day when they are old and no more able to skate, to live their lives in great love together. They do deserve it, because none of their marriages where so intense. It's great to be world's best, but there is only one life to live. Wow, I do hope that still happens in my lifetime, because time is running out. I'm amazed by them since 1984.

@@laudigerber9729 I agree! It would be amazing if once they are finally forced to retire they end up doing it together. I notice that she does go to his home in the U.S. on vacation from time to time and to train. I know he has his girlfriend and she is still married but you never really know.

I believe that Karen had had her sights on Chris for a very long time, waiting for when the time was right to pounce. In this video, as well as one when they were all very young, she hovers very close into their space, with an intent expression on her face. Well, she got her prize, didn't she, as Chris really needed someone to lean on.
