I'm a tango dancer,so i also love those sounds, so like dancing shoes on a perfect parquet...but these two make me wish that i could dance on ice, it adds a dimension that a floor dancer can only dream of (and does, frequently !)

They fill my heart with joy every time I look them on ice and enrich my life. Forever grateful.

Mesmerising !!!!! I can't believe I've never seen this performance before, absolutely breathtaking, as good as, if not better than Bolero......there will never be another couple like them .

It's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen ~ sheer poetry in motion ~ it has such emotion

Incredible! These two always were a pleasure to watch, but this is them at their very best - stunning.

I love Torvill and Dean for their work as they make this piece scream of emotion and make it show a story, I can't help but cry every time I see this video (at least 4/5 times a week). Never will their be any two other skaters, so in tune with each other which give the impression of there only being one skater, so flawless and together :) :') true beauty

That's awesome! How they feel each other...that's incredible! And all the lifts seem to be soooo easy (only seem). Great professionals!

@tongapuss I've been a HUGE fan of T&D since 1980 - this, Song of India, Mack & Mable, Barnum, Bolero, Encounter, Missing, are all masterpieces. @k9henrydog, the start is tango almost crossed with perfect school figures! They've "invented" so much haven't they! The multi-position lift + rotational, the role-reversal lift, they even do pairs death spirals (still, at 51 & 52 years old). They now host/run the most fun show "Dancing on Ice" in UK, like Dancing with the Stars but on ice!

I love all of their work and they've done so many famous, brilliant routines, but for me personally, something makes this, along with Encounter, my absolute favourite - it really touches me. Not sure why...seems bittersweet and like there's a sadness but it's so beautiful. And the sound of the blades on the ice at the start is amazing.

So tender and elegant! And such synchrony! They must have been so much more than rink partners to have such a connection...

Everything they skate is awesome,but just watched 1985 pros that's awesome too they make everything look so easy when it isn't.
@Vooshe16 жыл бұрын
figure skating tends to require more jumps and 'stunts' ice dancing (which torvill and dean are famous for) is exactly what it describes, dancing on ice, so not so many stunts to begin with, more lifts and kicks

Kind of looks like they were inventing the new straight line sequence steps, about 25 years before the concept was thunk up!! best wishes

I like this video better than the real competition because people kept clapping during that one and ruining the mood!
@Jayjen3513 жыл бұрын
@gabcarol8 Very true. I remember when they first started doing this people actually clapped when the music started! I do think that sometimes it'd be nice if figure-skating had the same amount of respect that dance does, so many beautiful performance are spoiled by clapping and (ugh) screaming.

I think they used this for the technical program at the 1990 World Professionals but i'm not sure. However this performance does look like a show.
