I'm really enjoying the podcasts from this channel with Alastair and Rory (unlikely pairing but what an amazing rapport these two men have regardless of their political backgrounds)! Please keep them coming. Thank you very much.

Its a sad day in politics when the fate of 69 million people will be controlled by a PM selected by 150,000.
@hkpr-ro6ui2 жыл бұрын
It's not sad, it's normal. 17/28 PMs over the past 122 years have assumed office outside of a GE. The party elects its leader not the people. We don't have a Presidential system.

Endorcers for Liz - Dorries & Mr Mogg. Says it all; Liz being more of the same in Boris's mold - she's obviously promised them both jobs, god help us! "Vote Liz, for more of the same"...

The endorsements that no candidate want has to be from Nadine Dorries and Jacob Rees-Mogg. It means that you are the candidate for weirdoes. Both these MPs are unbalanced.

It’s interesting to see one of the top US political podcasts is Breaking Points and the top Uk political podcast Is this one. What they both have in common is that they’re hosted by two professionals from either side of the political spectrum and present a fair, objective, civilised and intelligent take on current affairs. The two programmes feature experienced operatives that have seen behind the veil, know all the tricks and have a unique insight into the mechanics of government. We are literally crying out for sensible journalism articulated beyond tribalism, the culture wars and corporate interference. This is what our media SHOULD look like. How have we been gaslit to accept anything else?

hosted by two professionals from either side of the political spectrum and present a fair, objective, civilized and intelligent. lol lol there is no difference between these two men. and as for the media these two have worked as journalists for the mainstream media. and as for the leftist party call the conservatives there leadership is irrelevant. the business of government is done through international groups.

A major part of the problem as I see it, is that those who have a big say in who will become the next prime minister were disappointed in Johnson because he was not extreme enough.

Yes,so it seems, Boris was regarded as too 'liberal' and levelling up etc. Party in Parliament lurching to right again, austerity, cut NHS and police by 20% of funding. Quite scary for most of us!

The Tory leadership selection process is incredibly revealing in terms of the 'Real' policies of the party because they are only apealing to a select group of electors.

The video cover picture is missing, or is this intended? Looking at the video on the list of all other KZbin videos is as if it were a not found video. Normally KZbin created the thumbnails automatically and the first image will be the cover.

If they had chosen Rory Stewart, I really believe that by Putin would have walked out of the kremlin and allowed himself to be escorted to the Hague. It would have ended by now. Alas that it was not so.

Why is it that nobody can call the man Abe Shinzo? FFS
@onemanfran2 жыл бұрын
After reviewing my response it seems that until 2019 it was standard protocol to translate Japanese names into English so that the personal name (Shinzo) is first and the family name (Abe) is last. This is still very much the practice for personal names but for officials it has been requested for the practice of last name first name to be used. I can imagine after so many decades it will take time for the press and other individuals to change this practice.

^Yeah the videos were embarrassing. Felt even more embarrased to be English (still just about ok with being British whilst its a thing before we're called the Kingdom of England and Wales haha) than usual. Can keep cheesy American style political campaigning out of British politics please. Keep it to hustings and debates.
