I have no idea how your video landed in my feed, and I almost never comment on videos. As a local I want to say thank you. I love Niagara, and seeing all the short clips of you driving around the area, you really captured it! Thank you for not trashing on the tourist aspect of our city, which I also appreciate. Parking sucks, but yeah, it is what it is. Lastly, I have passed that shoe tree a number of times on Warner Rd, I had no idea it was a thing. I hope you took the time to see the Screaming Tunnel. It was 500ft further up the Warner Rd. Thanks again.

I lived in downtown Albany (NY) over the Summer. It had been a while since I’d lived in an urban area. It was NOISY and I was 4 flights up! I got used to the street chatter after a month or so but it’s amazing the amount of street life at late and very early morning hours. The pizza festival, now that’s my thing 🍕At my first job which was in a mall with a pizza place, I ate there so much my co-workers called me Pete-Za 😆 Thanks for taking me along on this NY adventure 🤗

By the way, about 10 minutes from Québec City we have the Chute Montmorency, a waterfall not as wide, but 3 times higher than Niagara Falls. It is impressive even in winter. You should visit!

Epic scenic location for a stop over! I have been to Niagara Falls NY several times and have met some of the most amazing people there. It's so iconic and stunning but you are right, at the same time it has areas and people that do not live up to the standards it should have. On the NY side the drive and walk on Goat Island is really cool. There is a really nice Aquarium in town too. The best free thing to do other than the Falls walkway is the Niagara Gorge path and the historic Devils Hole. Incredible views! It gets enough people on the paved walkway to be safe (public) but not so many to be crowded. Oh and you going there in the off season is a good choice, it gets ridiculously crowded in summer. Great video, thanks for sharing!

I've just discovered your channel yesterday and now I've been binging a bunch of your videos! I think it's really cool that you're kind of building out the van while also travelling because I can relate lol. Maybe your reasoning is different but for me I was just too impatient and wanted to start travelling so I would go travel for months and then come back home and work on the van some more. Anyways, very cool channel you have and I'm interested in seeing your van build completed! Safe travels! :)

thanks for the fun tour. as you mentioned the volume of the Niagra river is reduced by the power plant which slows the erosion of the falls. only about 1/3 of the volume of Niagra goes over the falls. every once in awhile they divert all of niagra river so none, or very little goes over the falls. they can then clean and inspect the falls.

Live 30 miles from Niagara Falls on the shores of Lake Erie and you are seeing it correctly. The Canadian side really blows way the US side. And you are correct about the seasonal differences. When you come at peak season in the summer, it’s mobbed with people.

And the air! The air on the American side is horrendous because of all the buses that want their air conditioning to continue running so they just idle for hours and hours and it's non-stop literally from as soon as the sun comes up until about 10:00 p.m. at night It's constant and all of that just it's awful.. It's such an absolute shame because NIAGARA FALLS IS THE TOP FRESHWATER ECOSYSTEM ON EARTH! It's absolutely infuriating we as in Western New York and the Americans and just everyone treats it it's an infuriates me it feels like I'm going to explode my bones I'm so pissed about it from the deaths of my core

I just stumbled across your channel this morning. I’ve watched a couple videos so far and you do a great job! As for all the people in the comments section ripping NF, NY apart, it makes me sad. While there is obvious truth to the Canadian side being much better for tourists and the views of the actual Falls being more abundant, the American side has MANY redeeming qualities. I was born in Niagara Falls, lived my childhood and adolescence in Lewiston/Youngstown (even though I did all my extracurricular activities in NF) and as soon as I was able, I moved back to “the Falls”. Here’s why: your “neighbor”, is going to become essentially a member of your family. No matter your political views, world views, sports fandom, etc. your neighbors are there for you at ANY time and for ANY reason. They will leave their doors unlocked just so you can walk right in the house without having to ask because they want to make sure you’re ok and also know that you’ve always got a safe space to talk and a meal to keep you nourished. You get to know everybody from the time you’re born til the time you die and you help raise their children and they help raise yours. You might’ve heard that Buffalo, NY is known as the “City of Good neighbors” and that Bills Mafia is regarded as the most generous and caring fan base in North American professional sports but that stuff doesn’t just apply to Buffalo. It’s all of western NY which is the region in which Niagara Falls resides. Some of the best food you’ll ever eat is in Niagara Falls because of the amazing diversity of culture. There’s Polish, German, Italian, Jamaican, African, Mexican, Puerto Rican, Irish, Chinese (and a bunch more) residents which all have incredible food, art and life in neighborhoods in which they thrive. While altogether being a support to each other. And all this (you would normally only associate with “big cities” I’m sure) in a city that only inhabits roughly 50,000 people. Now downtown NF, just like any other city’s downtown area, there’s less than desirable situations, people and physical area but that can’t be what NF or any other place is known for. It’s just not fair to generalize a person or place like that. The city (downtown or otherwise) has a lot of beauty and history. You can find some of the oldest homes in the country, some of the nicest nature to take in while also enjoying wonderful night life, family activities, INCREDIBLE food and so much more. There’s something for every personality in my tiny city and for all the things I’ve mentioned, and so much more, it’s the reason I still call Niagara Falls HOME…even though I’ve lived in northeastern Nevada for almost 15 years now.

The Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds, etc.. generally stop running late October/ early November. They use gigantic cranes to drop the boats in to the falls and take them out at the beginning and end of each season. Cave of the Winds: They build that by hand each season- You actually walked by the wood that they were taking from the lower decks as you mentioned that you could feel the spray. There's Niagara Falls on the US side (which is where you were for this video), and then there's the city of Niagara Falls which is everywhere outside of that little bubble. You picked a great spot to sleep that night! Close to the park - they were still businesses around I get that there were people threatening each other and whatnot however you were still within the bubble of Niagara Falls tourist area - that does not mean that it's good though.. The city though outside of that bubble is quite a bit different! It's run down, polluted, everyone's tired pretty much You got that right here in the video - violence definitely is a bit higher in my opinion.. I was scouting a film A few years back that was looking to shoot in Niagara Falls. I would check in with the park rangers on my way into scout and obviously on my way out as well because It's not Disney world. The one park ranger told me, "This is one of the safest places on the planet". By the end of the season I had met an interacted with a serial rapist who was taking advantage of tourists that didn't speak English. He talked about some really horrendous shit that he did to women as well like putting them in trunks of cars, tying them up in basements and all sorts of absolutely horrendous stuff! I don't think that he was ever charged with anything other than the one rape where she came forward and they flew her back and forth but he was convicted of that. When I saw his face on the news I had actually interacted with him semi-regularly throughout that entire season. It was disgusting and the fact that the border patrol is right there is infuriating so the parks department is right there and they are supposed to monitor the parks but also, border patrol and all of the different officers that should be around there with all the cameras and whatnot just didn't they were not paying attention and gnarly shit can happen! I'm not saying it's not wonderful it's just not it's absolutely not how it's advertised! Even during the summer and when it's on season, it is not what it's as advertised to be granted yes you can see the falls, yes everything is open, all of that however you still have to be on the lookout and the air is different because of all of the buses running non-stop so that their air conditioning can stay on which is horrendous! Pickpockets yada yada not the pickpockets are that big of a deal but they're always a big deal in touristy areas - the prices also get a lot higher - the tourist can be pushy I've found! And everything is at one level like obviously you can go up to the observation deck and there's a little bit of variation when you're walking along the trails and whatnot but everyone is lining up for photos to the falls so people can get really really pushy and a bit mean. I'm glad that you made it out safely. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR MONOLOGUE. Thank you for bringing real information! A lot of vloggers and influencers currently I've found have not been actually doing any research. They just want the clickbait and the views and to monetize. I really appreciate you giving Niagara Falls an honest shot. Please tell me that you visited Buffalo though! I'm about to go to your page right now It's right there! There's also a phenomenal Indian restaurant that was right around the corner from you! Totally affordable absolutely phenomenal!

Live there, Do that. Wife and I like to go to the "Savor" Restaurant Niagara Falls Culinary Institute from SUNY (State University New York) where you were located. Yes, the students are the working staff and I have enjoyed every meal I had over the years. Old Falls Street is the Walk we take on a warm dry morning from The Falls Park to the Culinary Institute for lunch then to the Casino for the evening if there is a show we like to see or just have some fun and dinner. We go there for a fresh snow and Christmas Lights too. Sorry the local 'Wildlife" left a bad impression but like many cities run poorly this is a common thing to see. Western New York has such great things to see and a potential for better but the people running things don't have a vision of what could be instead of what they can get. Canada's side is the Tourist attraction where more of the money spent is reinvested. The US side is where good Ideas are like hanging flower baskets, they are nice for a few weeks then they die unmaintained.

Being from Jersey I have to say I'm a little biased when it comes to pizza. But that being said, all that pizza looked really good minus the one. Best pizza I ever had was right outside of Acadia national park. It was lobster bacon with a balsamic glaze. As for Niagra falls, I've heard the U.S. side isn't anything really special. I've stayed on the Canada side and that's almost like an amusement park.

The town of Niagara Falls is unfortunately a bit downtrodden and rough as you witnessed. The cheapest and best food, in my experience, can be found in the Seneca Casino. They purposely underprice the food to either draw people in or keep them spending imo, but if you just go on past the machines and tables and go straight to the massive buffet and then straight out, it's a pretty good deal. I think it was like $12 for all you can eat the last time I was there. And they had like 10 different themed places in the buffet to choose from too. Nothing hits like that first slice 🤣

Hey Tony - got your vid on now - your gut observations about NF are correct - and would also be for most of the region - sadly... I've been prepping to begin my own vanlife for a few years from just up the road from NF and my friend's funeral home in Tonawanda ( very close to NF ) from my current spot in Erie, PA - with locked up $2 items as well - and I hate to have to be the one BUT... As a native NYer from the NYC metro area and having lived in 5 states, 11 cities - both coasts, Colorado and other spots in between... I have PULLED THE PLUG ON VANLIFE IN THE US - and am instead going to try it in Europe. THE CRIME - esp that which vanlifers are extra vulnerable to - is simply too everywhere these days. Add in the way american cops treat most motorists and def vanlifers... And I just CAN'T JUSTIFY the leap in the US. Too many and too widely categorized problems in the US anymore - at age 54. BE CAREFUL EVERYWHERE - but especially in this region you're posting from now - "the "rust belt" ( from mid upper NY all the way across to Wisconsin and down into appalachia... It is DESPERADO ZOMBIE LAND NOW. And they will break your window for the nickels in your ashtray and assault you for your sneakers. It's a shame - but being anti reality is NOT a thing people can afford to be when they're alone out on the road. If I were you I'd blaze right through the upper midwest and start making stops again once you're into the Dakotas... good luck.

@@ski6712 Yeah - comes with the age... eyes - keyboard - and likely too many cats around at the time. But the info remains the same - stay away from the "rust belt" unless you want all your shit broken into every night - these drunken fucktards don't give a fuck and the cops - as I think she noted in Buffalo - do not bother coming for any call that isn't "black male with a gun" - everything else needs 45 minutes minimum. And it's that much worse when you're one of the very few actual NET taxpayers.

Yeah, Niagara Falls, NY, is sketchy. Over in Canada, I remember it being better

I love pizza, it's weird that they sold you that cold thin slice, I've bought pizza like that as well.

Greetings from South Texas, how did the insulation in van hold up? Did it make difference in cold weather?

Hi! :) It’s doing really well, it makes a huge difference, I can tell significantly on the back door where I didn’t insulate the bottom portions yet!
