TOS w100a HBM and a new bigger boring bar

TOS w100a Horizontal boring mill / machine
Boring a lockgate which needed a bigger boring bar. So I made 2 new ones and a holder.
One boring bar is 600mm long and the other is 800mm long.
A 25mm Turing tool/shaft is able to be mounted in the end.
Works superb.

OME, This may be a dumb question but on an operation like this with the facing head mounted on the machine, is there a reason you are infeeding the table as opposed to extending the quill? Will the weight of the facing head make the quill sag and cause a taper in the bore? or is it that you CANT extend the quill due to how to facing head mounts? Another question, you said the bore taper measured within 20 micron, do you think this is due to slop in the box ways of your machine or do you believe it has to do with deflection of the part you're boring / the tooling you are using to cut it. I don't have any formal experience machining but i love learning about it thank you!!

Hi 😊 There is no dumb question 😊💪 Always feel free to ask When using the face chuck as here, the boring spindle is not used. It can be used, but then it need to have a boring head, or similar fixed. When using the face chuck, you can adjust and make the bore bigger. Like a boring head. The boring spindle only moves one direction. This is also way more stable and rigid than the spindle. Despite it being a 100mm spindle, it has its limitations. Especially when going far into something, - with a large radial cut. The taper in the part is because the HBM/tos w100a isn't 100% leveled yet. We have made some custom anchors to it, and waiting for a specialist to come level it perfectly. So it has some limitations, accuracy vise. 😊 Hope it makes sense, and answers your questions Best regards

looks like a housing for a feeder... too bad u don't have the boring bar support....thats how we used to do them

There's no need for support 👍 normally we do them in the lathe. But this works better
