This brought back a lot of memories of my first formal lessons in Aikido. The techniques were taught in exactly the same way, with explanations of the mechanics required to make them work. My Teacher was Jack Baden and, as far as I can remember, took his training in Germany. I think that his origins were in the Philippians. Thank you for the Video.

You’re most welcome, thanks for watching. I actually have the edited version one with clearer explanation, but with all the keyboard warriors in presence, I don’t think I need to clear the water. This video was actually meant to showcase how good the production team in directing the video, not necessarily to showcase Aikido. But if you enjoy it that’s great.

@@tosheee, Thank you for your response. When I started formally studying Aikido, I had already been involve in Martial Arts studies for over 13 years, (now 57 years). I was familiar with Aikido having seen some movie clips at a local Dojo, (no Internet in those days), and jumped at the chance when I met Baden Sensei. Aikido changed my basic views on the efficacy of the Internal methods, particularly with regard to concepts such as "Initiative and Superior Initiative: and was able, through my Sensei's skills, to not only see, but experienced them first hand. The Aikido experience opened my eyes to such arts as Tai Chi, Baqua and many others and I haven't looked back since. As far as these "keyboard warriors" are concerned, I used to have all kinds of "experts" come to my classes when I taught and found them to be of little consequence . . . that would include a surprising number of legitimate instructors at some of the schools that were opening in the city so further clarification would probably be wasted. You and your team did succeed in your goals toward showcasing your production skills and your decision to show Aikido was, for me, a great choice because of the memories it awoke for me . . . and I hope to see more from you folks . . . whatever the topic. Subscribed! Thank you again Be Well

You're welcome :-) It's "hiji-kime", or at least that's the name I know for that technique, haha. It's just a simple body mechanics principle.
@johnnyb60494 жыл бұрын
This appears to be the same "style/version" of the Aikido that I studied so many years ago judging by the basic warm-up sequence and basic techniques shown here. One of the reasons that most Long-Contact methods fail is that most students, (and many that become Instructors), is that they have not effected their opponent's balance and are trying to manipulate the body through their arm(s) which is like trying to PUSH a wagon with a rope. This isn't as necessary with Short-Contact Methods, but, above all, if you do not effect the opponent's body in some way quickly enough, they will retain control and neutralize your Attack/Counter-attack. There is a lot of unseen potential in many of the Martial Arts, but, if you don't know what to look for, you'll never see it. Of the two Great Powers, Speed and Strength, Speed is the Greatest by Far! If you do things that slow you down, you lose a considerable amount of advantage. With respect to Aikido, you should be able to do a fully controlled take-down slowly. This is a good test that you are applying the correct mechanics, (leverage, etc). Be Well and Stay Safe

How poetical. Suisen is the Komuso technique of playing "tuneless tunes" on the shaku-hachi in order to quickly and continually attain/promulgate the ideal meditational state. Mystical allusion. I considered using it as the name of my next CD of original songs, but, in the end, decided on "Bраньё " (Vranyuh), a Russian word meaning "Creative" or "Deceptive" exaggeration.

For the women, I believed that their mastery is in releasing away from hand hold and any restraining move to the body of a would be abductor or bully.

From experience Aikido can work in similar situations where imminent death is not the threat. I cannot stress the importance of pressure testing your Aikido. Ive trained a few arts including Aikido.. if I said Aikido didn't impove my foot work 10 folds I would be lying. At one point in my life a situation came up where I ended using an Aikido Technique that ultimately saved my life.. But if I had never pressure tested the series of techniques I had used it wouldn't of worked.. pressure testing implies an unwilling participant to the move when you grab he pulls or vice-versa when you change they change.. hard to explain without showing.. But if they break the flow you need to be able to redirect to a new flow. Be like water.

I think learning a martial arts is wonder for self-defense but I would encourage a more realistic technique to be applied. Aikido can be a great art with philosophy and some moves may be applicable but the scenario with the two girls vs two guys seemed too slow and cumbersome to be used at the end. So my suggestion is to practice the move over and over until it speeds up to a real life scenario.
@tosheee8 жыл бұрын
I should explain that these people are not professional actors/actresses, or stuntman/woman, they're all simply my juniors. As for the techniques, I have offered some more realistic examples, but the director rejected it for it will show no correlation to the movements in basic technique, and we don't have the time to collaborate something nicer, as we only have 2 days at that time for shooting and production, for this video is a final assignment for a broadcast student friend. So, yeah, I must admit, this was a very limited effort. But thanks for comment, I get what u meant :-)

I don't understand why there a lot of practitioners thinks they are practicing the best stuffs out there. Me, I always put myself in the bottom of the list. Do u realize that no matter what we are practicing, we can never compare ourselves with soldiers in war/conflict zone that faces death on a daily basis? To think that one is the best and others are lame is stupid.
@falghrawi8 жыл бұрын
see the thing is you sound like you have a huge vision and ib the same time you claim humbleness. and more fun is you give examples left and right. what compare soldiers to martial art have to do with comparing and discussing Aikido technique? you cracked the hell out of me laughing. more fun is you wonder why people stick and thick their martial art is the best when you think the same thing of Aikido. so stop defending it then wait for other to stop defending theirs too. see I don't want to expect but definitely you should be below 25 years old based on the way you describe things and sound like. see, personally I do respect all martial arts expect Aikido as its definitely useless and with all demo (never been tested on a real bout or clash) you really need a very good partner who can fly properly otherwises your demo is screwed. Aikido will lose in any bout, in cage or out of cage, if any theft have good experience in what he do and have absolutely no idea in any martial art and strong a bit will definitely wipe any Aikido student and probably master as well. so what am saying if a normal human can defeat Aikido then definitely any other martial art practicer (Karate, Judo, Western boxing, Muaythai, Bjj) will erase any Aikido practicer as well. Stop defending your technique and consider looking into other martial arts, that must be your lesson one. the master of all masters Bruce Lee said "You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can drip and it can crash. Become like water my friend." so what u ask others to do, apply it on your self first, and be water my friend.

@tosheee5 жыл бұрын

Ok..... very good techniques of suisen kan Aikido. Simple, fast, and not over power be used. This self defense can be used by all peoples, very fast to paralyze and not for injuring. Ok.

Loved the video, brother! Greetings from a fellow Aikidoka from Argentina. (By the way, someone needs to tell the muggers that it's not smart to wait for your victims right ouside a martial arts school haha)

I understand how effective Aikido is in disarming someone with a knife. How effective is it boxing and kickboxing.

This is the aikido of O-Sensei, the aikido of peace. Fine techniques !!! I have learned something about controlling the dojo, not dominating the dojo. In my own following lesson someday, it is a point I will share with our dojo members. Thanks !!! In which country you live ??? I can't figure it out.
