Has anyone experience the unit constantly displaying the P1 code?
@nathangelaonline2391
@nathangelaonline2391 Жыл бұрын
I have not had issues with the P1 Code, sorry. a quick search online shows that code is for the reservoir being full for the dehumidifier. If I were to guess, I imagine there is either a float or sensor inside the machine that is stuck or broken. Anyone else had issues with this code showing up even with an empty reservoir? Let me know in this thread!
@4RM57R0N6
@4RM57R0N6 Жыл бұрын
Yes, mine does this and thanks to this breakdown video I figured out why. The P1 code is displayed (accompanied by 8 beeps) when the lower water reservoir is full. You need to unscrew the lower reservoir cap at the bottom next to the power cord and unplug the spout. It holds ~250 mL (1 cup) of water so be ready with a towel or take it outside. I’m planning to build a stand for my unit so I can allow both drains to stay open and collect in a larger container. Add a pump and a float switch (like a toilet) and it’ll empty itself out the window with the hot air. EDIT: Forgot to add why mine kept displaying the P1 code. I found some dirt and hair had clogged the lower drain so when I would unplug it barely anything came out. Once I cleared the clog the code stoped showing up so much.

Its bc you have water in your two drain outs, I had to be constantly turning it off and emptying out the top and bottom water holder area, I went to Lowe's and bought two .5 inch tubing and connected them to the drainage holes with a clip and ran it into a 5 gallon bucket from Lowe's and I no longer get the P1 CODE and it blows out cold air constantly.

It is very common that in a year the lower motor that pulls the water towards the condenser to cool it and evaporate it breaks due to rust. When it stops due to rust, the tank fills and marks P1.
@r23456
@r23456 7 ай бұрын
Then you have 2 options 1) change the motor 2) put another hose (using it cold) at the bottom so that the water goes there. Performance drops 1° on very hot days

Now we have a new problem-water. It is cooling well and it’s been hot and humid. Some days the water comes out of the upper outlet and into my bucket. But some days there is a lot of water coming out at the bottom which I can’t capture. Any ideas?? Thanks.
@nathangelaonline2391
@nathangelaonline2391 Жыл бұрын
Based on what I could tell, there is an open catch basin towards the bottom of the unit that collects water for the lower outlet. its literally an open black tray system that fits around the innards. When I opened mine this year there was a bunch of nasty green crap in it I had to clean out. If gunk got in there and plugged it somewhere, I imagine it would fill up and overflow randomly out the bottom. I would open it up again and clean out what you can. Best of Luck!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOUUUUUU for this tutorial! I have the same unit you do. Worked perfectly for over 2 years. Then out of nowhere, after 3 minutes of the compressor running it would immediately shutdown the entire unit, beep 3 times while the LED screen flashed 88, restart and repeat the process! I was meticulous about cleaning the removable vents and maintaining enough space around the unit so this scenario had me dumbfounded. The warranty had expired and after an exhaustive/fruitless Google search to try and figure out what the fuck was going on I planned to just buy a new unit, different brand but I felt bad on giving up on the thing since it served me so well. I stumbled upon your video and it turns out I also had the same situation of dust and hair buildup in the area not easily accessible! Basically, you saved me 600 bucks and I am forever grateful to you! Thanks again!

Thank You for this video! I used your video to take my Toshiba 12k BTU unit apart. I then took front cover off (easy to do) and I foil taped the entire front of unit to make it air tight. Then put covers back on. I sealed up all the intake holes on outside with foil tape. Made a cut out out of styrofoam board. Added a second hose dedicated for intake. I have two 8000 BTU units, new this year. Both dripped water out the bottom. Thank you for the video explaining how to get the back cover off. I found that there is a wrap around piece of insulation on the suction line leaving the cooling coil, which had come un-wrapped a bit and was allowing condensation to form, and drip directly to the bottom. I wrapped the insulation back on and secured with a couple zip ties. Something to look for if yours drips out the bottom.
@skidzy11
@skidzy11 3 ай бұрын
I just followed the instruction to this a couple of days ago. I took the back off and the bottom coil is placed in such a way that it's almost impossible to get your hands in there to clean it, but I managed to wiggle my hand in between the copper tubing for the refrigerant or Freon or whatever and got the bulk of it off. I think it did a pretty good job, but now it's making some weird ticking noises and still periodically. The air will only come out of the right side. I bought a can of compressed air and I'll blow that in there every once in awhile. Then it'll start working properly but in my experience right now it's not a 100% fix. Even though I did clear out all of the dust and cat hair and crap off of there, but remember to clip those extra plastic pieces off, they are completely useless. They serve no purpose. They should have been clipped off at the factory when they came out of the extruder. They serve no purpose other than to impede your ability to clean the coils.

Um, there are also two screws along the bottom of the *FRONT* panel...if you take those out before starting to pop the clips you will find it slightly easier to pop the clips. Also, I'm not sure prying the two panels apart with a chisel is the right approach--instead, using a small, thin putty knife or something similar and pushing inward rather than prying apart will make it easier to pop the clips.

In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment.I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

My unit will be on and set to temp ... blows cold then 5 or 25 mins later it stops blowing but is still on.... then 5 minutes later it starts blowing...I don't think it's a got to temp feature... it's should be blowing steady until I cut off. Any help or advice

What's with all that algae / bacteria looking water the bottom of the unit? Did Toshiba not put a drain pan in for this unit? That tends to make the AC "smelly." Good vid, btw, liked and subscribed!

That is the drain pan for the Dehumidifier. not sure why they didn't put a sealed or removable pan in. if it gets too full or the unit is tipped, it just spills out on the floor. The design is not the best for sure.

Ours keeps throwing p1 code. Drain pan is empty. It will throw code and beep , compressor turns off for 20 minutes then it kicks back on. 20 mins later it does it all over again.

I have the same unit I just got it today. Why is it blowing hot air out of the back circle vent?
@nathangelaonline2391
@nathangelaonline2391 Жыл бұрын
That is the exhaust vent which needs to be connected to the outside through a window or opening via the included tubing.

If it smells like ammonia, you need to take it back! That means a leak of the coolant.

Mine blows pretty hard. If your blower is dirty that could be the prob. Or if the fan is set on low for some reason.

One of the first things I did was remove that stupid useless plastic barrier on both of my units which impede your ability to get in and properly wipe down the condenser coils. They serve zero purpose. I don't know why they leave them on there. I used to run a very large plastic extruder and these should be snapped off after they come out of the extruder. I have no idea why they're there and it doesn't hurt for them to be gone. They serve zero purpose other than to hold its shape during the cooling process after coming out of the extruder. I hope this helps because they're completely useless

this is our 3rd unit in 3 years. we buy refurbisbed which obviously doesnt pay off, we've never had this problem before...we are in florida...the past 3 nights, its beeping (that beeping has given me ptsd from our past units 😑) and the p1 error message shows in the window. 3 nights in a row we have drained an ungodly amount of water out of it. why is it filling up so much?!?! nothing about our environment has changed and our other units never did this, we barely had to drain them ever!!!

I hate this AC unit with a passion. Have TOSHIBA RAC-PD0812CRRC and gone through 3 of em in 15 years. My 3rd one right now won't stop having to be drained from the upper valve or it will spit up water from the top. I have no clue what to do. If anyone can recommend a better brand/model, PLEASE do!

Make sure you are draining BOTH of the drains. I didn't know about the second, (top) one. I decided to put hoses on both and drain them out through a hole in my floor. I can watch water trickling down almost all the time, and I live in the southern CA desert, where the humidity is pretty low!
