@@regazzz Or set aside different locations for different sized screws. Thanks for this video. It helped me take mine apart. My speakers were not working, and my computer kept shutting down. Now I know why - the "radiator" fins between the fan and the CPU were almost completely clogged with dust! I hope blowing it out solves that problem. Now I have to find a way to test the speakers to see why they quit working before I put it all back together.

There's a few moments in the video that could be trouble for someone new to this. The HDD is bolted down, but that screw is already removed in the video. So it won't just slide out with a small push until that screw is removed. Also, the keyboard connector is already unlocked in the video. Forgetting to unlock that before tugging on the keyboard connector could result in serious damage.

I have one similar to that one and fairly sure it is overheating and needs the fan cleaned out. It is plenty of work to get to that fan on the Toshiba. So far the Sony seems to be the easiest to get to the fan assembly. I just cleaned my HP Mini 110 laptop fan assembly and changed the hard drive in it. It wasn't that difficult to get to the fan in it either.

Open up the case, take off the keyboard and CD drive, then use a fine tool of some sort to nudge the DVD towards the right hand side of the laptop. Once you get it closer to the drive slot it's a simple task of pushing it through. I've had this issue before and caused some horrible over heating. Hopefully this helps.

Unless you don't need a microphone or webcam (you can check what was it because in this video I am taking apart a whole screen too) If you don't need a microphone and/or microphone - no need to take it apart)

My Toshiba Satellite A505-S6033 laptop used to OVERHEAT so bad, I bought it brand new and within a year or two it was overheating and shutting down. I never got it fixed and it has sat in a box for years. Now I Need a laptop, but I'm wondering if it will cost more than its worth to get it fixed.. I read somewhere this model has thermal paste issues that caused overheating, I think it was either that or some other fan issue, Idk 😢
@markb19113 ай бұрын
just look into the round vented fan opening on the bottom and at the cooling fins on the side where the fan exhausts. If it is full of dust and debris, buy a can of keyboard duster and blast through the bottom vent opening and in from the side vent. You’ll be surprised at the dust cloud that shoots out. This needs to be done about once a year or the laptop will start running hot. That side vent and bottom intake is the entire cooling system for the processor.
@MotorCityMob3 ай бұрын
@@markb1911 I will try that! Thank you!
@markb19113 ай бұрын
@@MotorCityMob This laptop has a heat-sink made up of two aluminum-finned heat-sinks connected together by a thick copper pipe. (heat-pipe) One side of the sink is mounted to the processor, and the other side is the metal fins that you’ll see within the fan exhaust port on the side of the laptop. The fan pushes air over the side sink’s fins out the side of the laptop. Because the two are connected with a copper pipe, (heat moves through copper very well as does electricity) and heat always moves towards the coolest part of a conductor, the heat is “pulled” through the pipe from where it’s mounted to the processor heatsink through the pipe towards the connected side heatsink being cooled by the fan. If the fan becomes obstructed either by dust, or the laptop being placed a soft surface like a blanket that blocks the intake on the laptop’s underside, both sides of the heat-sink become hot from lack of airflow through the bottom and out the side, and heat is no longer removed from the processor, making it overheat and go into thermal protection. (shutdown) This will also occur if the fan is not spinning because it has failed, (not common) or because there is a software driver issue that needs to be resolved. It’s ironic that using a “laptop” on the lap like the word suggests is actually one of the ways that causes the laptop to overheat and shut off lol.
