Toshiba TDDP5012ES2 Dehumidifier Failure - Ice Buildup in Summer

Dehumidifier stopped working within a year, but it took me a month to notice it. Customer service said that it should be defrosted for 24 hours, but it just frosted up again. The only condensate that it produces is the melted ice, which leaks out the back when there's a lot of it. Multiple reviews on the Home Depot website complain of the same early failure.
